SOME restaurants in the North-East have received a prestigious Michelin star while many others have noted in the Michelin Guide, an accolade in itself.
Bagging a Michelin star is the ultimate hallmark of culinary excellence, with 22 restaurants given new Michelin star ratings in during a virtual event.
There were just three two-star Michelin awards and two-three stars, but 17 restaurants were awarded one star while 16 were given Bib Gourmand recognition.
With its Bib Gourmand status, Michelin is championing value-for-money restaurants, offering good food at competitive prices.
This year also saw The Michelin Green Star for Sustainability making its debut, with 23 restaurants receiving the award. ....

Nursing homes account for 90% of COVID deaths

GALESBURG Outbreaks in Knox County long-term care facilities account for more than 90 percent of all the county’s COVID-19 deaths as cases in nursing homes and assisted living facilities continue to rise.
There were nine additional deaths and 55 new cases in Knox County long-term care facilities in the last week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
That data shows 78 of the county’s 85 COVID-19 deaths have been in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
One person has died at Heartland Healthcare, three at Courtyard Estates of Monmouth, two at Hawthorne Inn, one at Hawthorne Terrace, 18 at the Knox County Nursing Home, 25 at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, 21 at Seminary Manor, one at Serenity of Galesburg, and six at Serenity of Lake Storey. ....

GALESBURG The Knox County Health Department announced 175 new cases of COVID-19 found from Tuesday through Thursday in county residents. The new cases bring the county total to 3,591.
These cases included four girls and five boys under the age of 10, six girls and four boys in their teens, 15 women and 12 men in their 20s, 12 women and four men in their 30s, 11 women and 10 men in their 40s, 21 women and 14 men in their 50s, 16 women and eight men in their 60s, nine women and 11 men in their 70s, four women and six men in their 80s, and two women and one man in their 90s. ....
