Naidu failed to oppose move to privatise VSP in 2014: MLA

Anakapalle MLA Gudivada Amarnath has alleged that the TDP, which has no interest in saving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), is trying to gain political mileage by making baseless allegations against Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing a media conference here on Sunday, Mr. Amarnath said TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh was either feigning ignorance or was unaware that his father and former Chief Minster N. FLSmidth to deliver unique dry stacking tailings solution to cut environmental footprint and improve water recovery at Rajasthan mine

FLSmidth will deliver an integrated dry stack tailings solution and a paste fill plant to a Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) lead-zinc mine in Rajpura Dariba, Rajasthan. The solution will ensure environmental sustainability and significant process water recovery, as well as reduce the footprint of the tailings storage facility.
The new order, which was booked in Q4 2020, includes design, engineering, procurement, supply of equipment and the commissioning for integrated dry tailings and stacking along with tailings paste fill plant. FLSmidth will also supply two Automatic Filter Presses (AFP-IV
TM), two E-Disc filters and one 26m-Dia High-Density Thickener as the main pieces of equipment. The project is expected to be completed by February 2022. This new order follows a previous tailings-related order for Hindustan Zinc Limited at their Zawar mine site in 2018. ....

In the summer of 1987, the naturalist Raza H Tehsin was collecting biodiversity data at Matoon Mines near Udaipur city just east of the Thar desert in Rajasthan. Hindustan Zinc Limited was excavating rock phosphate here and had hired Tehsin – my father – to survey the fauna of this region.
Tehsin’s fascination with caves led him to ask the staff about unexplored caverns in that area. The chief engineer took him to a 50-foot shaft, which was said to have been formed because of copper being mined here several centuries before. ....
