Diane Lefevre Wright


Canandaigua- Diane Lefevre Wright was born April 3, 1929 in Beaver Falls, NY. Her parents were DeWitt Chauncey LeFevre and Virginia Adams LeFevre. Her father died in 1987 at age 87 of a massive heart attack. Her mother died in 1998 at age 93 after several strokes. She lived in Hallmark Nursing Home in Carthage from 1995 to 1998 and was able to spend many weekends at her home in Beaver Falls during that time.
Diane attended grade school and high school in Beaver Falls, and was valedictorian of her high school class in 1947. She was active in school activities during her four years. They included: student council representative, member of chorus and bands, editor of school paper, junior and senior plays, first prize in Lewneida League Speaking Contest in 1946 (portraying Dolly Madison) and editor of 1947 school yearbook. ....

The shelves of the Syracuse University food pantries are stocked with soup, tomatoes, pasta, lettuce, microwaves, pots, pans and feminine hygiene products.
The two pantries, located at Hendricks Chapel and the Carriage House in South Campus, have a rotating inventory based on donations - mostly non-perishables, but produce is also available in the warmer months, thanks to Pete’s Giving Garden on South Campus.
Nationwide, one in three undergraduate students faces food insecurity. At SU, where the campus population is 22,850 students (including graduate and law students), about half live off-campus and are not required to pay for a campus meal plan. ....

Daphne Budin had never eaten non-kosher meat before coming to Syracuse University. 
But because of the limited options in SU’s dining halls, Budin, a sophomore human development and family science major, has since started eating meat that isn’t kosher. Most dining halls don’t serve kosher foods, and Budin’s allergies can make finding suitable options even harder.
“When I would go into the dining hall, there were just not so many options,” Budin said. “It kind of just became a routine that I started to eat ‘unkosher’ meat.”  ....
