DAVID JOHN ARIGAN, 67, of Huntington, husband of Cora Hamlin Arigan, died May 5 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was employed with Marshall University as a manager in the shipping/receiving department. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. April 8 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Getaway Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour before service. DEREK SHANE DINGESS


DEREK SHANE DINGESS, 38, of Julian, W.Va., passed away April 14, 2021, after a long illness. He was born March 17, 1983, and spent most of his life in Chapmanville. Preceding him in death are his father, Larry Dingess, and his grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; his son, Jordan; his mother, Shirley Dingess; sister, Whitney Stollings; and brother, Andy Dingess. Shane graduated from Chapmanville High School then went on to work in the coal industry. He enjoyed taking trips with his family, fishing, concerts and horror movies, but most of all just being with his family. Shane accepted the Lord as his Savior while in the hospital on Easter Sunday of 2019. Service at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, at ....

MERRY JANET FLANNERY WALLEN SMITH The world got a little dimmer, lost a little bit of its laughter and wept in sorrow on February 9, 2021, as we said goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Merry Janet “Jan” Flannery Wallen Smith. She was our bright star, and we will forever miss the warmth that she comforted us with every day. We are so blessed to be able to carry the many memories we were fortunate enough to make with her throughout her lifetime. To know her was to love her, and love her we sure did. Merry was born at Sharples, W.Va., to Ernest “Ox” and Edith Flannery. Merry grew up and lived her whole life on Coal Valley Road in Clothier, W.Va. She often and lovingly referred to herself as “one of the alley kids.” She was a proud graduate of Sharples High School. She was retired from the Logan County Board of Education, where she spent the majority of her time as a Teacher’s Aide at East Chapmanville grade school. Merry was preceded in death ....
