A Haifa Municipality employee was sentenced Sunday to four years in prison for distributing tens of thousands of sex photos and videos of 187 young women on Telegram without their knowledge.
The court also ordered 30-year-old Ronen Sheikh to pay a fine of NIS 3,000 to each of the victims.

He admitted to the charges attributed to him as part of a plea deal, with the prosecution calling it the most severe punishment handed down since the passage of the 2014 prohibition on posting sexual imagery on the internet without consent. ....

Actor Moshe Ivgy convicted of further sexual offenses on appeal


Actor Moshe Ivgy has been convicted of further sexual offenses on appeal of his original trial.
The Haifa District Court has accepted the appeal of state prosecutors, convicting Ivgy of three counts of indecent acts and one count of sexual assault. Ivgy was originally convicted by the Haifa Magistrate’s Court last year of one indecent act and one count of sexual assault.

Six women have accused Ivgy of harassing and assaulting them while they were working together on various films, TV shows and plays. ....

Health Ministry chief says hopes to start vaccinating kids over 12 in 'May-June'


Health Ministry Director-General Chezy Levy tells reporters he estimates Israel will begin vaccinating children 12 and up against the coronavirus “around May-June.”
He says the decision will depend on clinical trials being conducted by vaccine-makers, which he hopes “will be over around the end of spring, beginning of summer.”

He adds that there is no plan to cancel the mask requirement in public, as “even vaccinated individuals can be a source of coronavirus that will pass to those around him if they are maskless or unvaccinated, and certainly our children up to 16 who are not vaccinated.” ....

Environment Ministry defends response to oil spill: 'We had no early warning'

The Environmental Protection Ministry on Thursday pushed back against accusations of a tardy response to the oil spill disaster that has seen almost all of Israel’s Mediterranean beaches closed down because of tar pollution.
Reports of the pollution emerged last Thursday when a dead 17-meter baby fin whale washed up on Israel’s southern coast, along with other wildlife.
Asked why it took so long for Israeli authorities to get a grip on what had happened, the Environmental Protection Ministry’s director of the National Unit for the Protection of the Marine Environment, Rani Amir, said, “We had no early warning and no one in the Mediterranean knew about it.” ....
