WACO, TX — Two bike shop owners, Wilbur and Orville Wright, met success building the first working aircraft.
Now, Shane Howard, a Waco aircraft mechanic, aims to make a success with Waco s newest bicycle shop.
Bike shops are really kind of a destination spot. Most people look up, Hey, where are the bike shops at? and they go there, he explained.
So, Shane and his wife, Alexandra, worked to make OTB Cyclery different and welcoming to all.
”So we want to make it where families come in and there s something for everyone,” said Alexandra Howard. ....

David and Kim Willard stand among a stairwell filled with family photographs in their home, which is the first brick residence ever built by and for a Black family in Beaumont. The two-story home on Gladys Avenue was built by David s great-grandfather Elmo Riley Willard, I, who was born in August of 1867 on the Calder Plantation, where his parents, Riley Elmo Willard and Margaret Willard, were slaves. Over 1000 participants will form a sea of purple and converge on the Darwin CBD on Saturday to join the 2021 International Women’s Day Walk and Celebrations.
It is the 12th year that City of Darwin has supported an International Women’s Day event celebrating the outstanding achievements of local women and creating a more collaborative, inclusive and connected community.
The event runs from 8.30 – 11am in Civic Park. Following a Welcome to country smoking ceremony, the walk commences at 9am through the CBD and Smith St Mall led by the Darwin City Brass Band. It is a short 10-15 minute walk. ....

Father charged in death of 15-year-old boy


Eddie Martin Valencia is charged with involuntary manslaughter. 
The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 20, around 9 p.m. A press release from Fayette Police said the incident happened in the boy s home and involved a member of his family. 
According to court documents, Valencia called police to report the incident, and officers arrived to find the son dead. Police said Valencia told them he was checking his weapon and dry fired the gun when it went off. Dry firing is when someone pulls the trigger on a gun with no ammunition in the chamber.
When the gun went off, Valencia saw his son had been hit and called 911. ....
