Hanover approves water-meter purchase | News, Sports, Jobs

HANOVER The Town Board last week awarded the contract for the purchase of 300 to 950 water meters for the purposes of going to a driveby meter system.
The Board received five bids for the project and weighed each accordingly, both based on dollar amount and what each individual bid had to offer. In the end, the lowest two bids were compared against each other and sent around the board for evaluation. The lowest bids were selected in the best interest of the town. The difference between the two lowest bids was $2,500, but there were a few catches.
“The lowest bid, from FW Webb, has a yearly software management fee yearly of $2,100,” said Wastewater Superintendent Rob Weiskerger. “On top of a $250 per hour tech support fee. There will be lots of hours in the first year for tech support, and that cost would be something we would want to stay away from.” ....

IRVING What’s the future for a former health care facility in northern Chautauqua County? No one is quite sure, but the Brooks-TLC Hospital System has put the campus up for sale.
On Monday, the board of directors of Brooks-TLC announced it has engaged Pyramid Brokerage Co. of Buffalo, Inc. to act as broker for the sale of the former TLC campus and Lakeshore Hospital at 845 Main Road. Last December, the same board announced plans to close the facility, which eliminated some 200 jobs. The facility’s final day of operation was Feb. 2. ....

City of Dunkirk Rec Center to reopen | News, Sports, Jobs

The city of Dunkirk’s Recreation Center at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds will open Monday. The Rec Center will be open for four months again this season. Toddlers up to adults can enjoy everything from open gym, to soccer clinics, to birthday parties to a walking program; the Rec Center has something for everyone.
For adults, a.m. walk will continue Monday through Friday from 7:30-10 a.m. Walking is $1 per day or a punch card with 14 walks is $10. Announcements will be made for future programming.
Residents can book a team’s practice, or a birthday party by contacting the Recreation Office at 366-9885 or 366-9886, or by stopping into the office located at 45 Cliffstar Court Dunkirk. ....
