Astronomers find a cataclysmic pair of stars with the shortest orbit yet | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Astronomers have discovered a stellar binary with what appears to be an extremely short orbit of 51 minutes. The system seems to be a “cataclysmic variable,” in which a star like our sun tightly orbits a white dwarf.
