Citizens. [applause] me innch please join thanking our firefighters and our Police Officers, who keep us safe. [applause] and join me in thanking our veterans and our women and men of the military, the work so hard to protect us who work so hard to protect us. [applause] mr. Lynch now we are in the midst of an important president ial campaign and election, maybe the most important of our lives. The current occupant of the white house, he who shall not be continues to want to divide us. He attacks our heritage, our ethnicity, race, whether we have disabilities, and also he attacks our Sexual Orientation. I am here to say to the president ial candidates, we are here to say to the president ial candidates, and i know we speak for people all over america, we dont care what is in your dna. We care what is in your heart, your head, and whether you have the passion, commitment, and capability to make a positive difference in the lives of the people of this country and the world. [applause] mr. Lynch i believed as ,overnor, and i still believe that we live in the greatest state in the greatest country of the world, our state of New Hampshire. [applause] speaking of greatness , one of the individuals who helped to keep us the great state that we are is our congressman chris pappas. Job . He doing a wonderful [applause] chris made the commitment that he would go to washington as an independent voice, and he would do what is best for the people of New Hampshire. He has cap that commitment. Join me in welcoming our great congressman from the first district, congressman chris pappas. [cheers and applause] good morning, New Hampshire democrats. Good morning, everyone. It is great to be here with you on this fantastic day. I am humbled to stand before you as one of your representatives in congress. I want to thank my friend governor lynch for that introduction. Isnt governor lynch amazing . He is the antitrump. He is humble. He is compassionate. He is a people person. He is also a successful businessman. Him. Uld use more like we are all excited to have the next president of the United States in the house today. Ever have a Critical Role to play. Not just in winnowing this field down, but in shaping the terms of the National Debate well beyond february. We are going to show the rest of the country what unity looks like once the dust settles from this contest. An honor to share the stage and share the delegation with my wonderful colleagues, Jeanne Shaheen, Maggie Hassan, and annie kuster. I thank them for the service to the great state. Thank you as well to chairman buckley and the staff for putting together this unprecedented event to bring us all together today and set us up for great victories in 2020. To all of you delegates and guests, welcome to the great city of manchester. We are proud of our city, and we are proud of our great mayor joyce craig, the we are going to reelect in november. [applause] mr. Pappas i can tell you this, after eight months on the job, my time in congress has at times been frustrating and at times exhilarating. I entered congress during the longest Government Shutdown in American History when 800,000 federal workers were being used as political pawns by this president because he cannot get congress to fund his wall, or mexico for that matter. That was frustrating. I also entered congress with an incredible Dynamic Group of majority makers, the youngest and most diverse freshman class in u. S. History. That is exhilarating. [applause] mr. Pappas at this unprecedented moment, when we have a president who is estranged from the truth, who is risking our credibility on the world stage, who is dividing americans, who is undermining our fundamental ability to get things done, our House Majority is determined to find a way forward. We are commanding priorities on issues that have long languished in washington, d. C. We passed an increase in the minimum wage because working people deserve a raise. [applause] mr. Pappas we passed the dream act because dreamers among us deserve to have a pathway to citizenship. They are part of our family. Legislation to put the u. S. Back in the paris climate agreement, where we belong, not leaving our chair empty on the world stage. We passed legislation to protect the aca and protections for individuals with preexisting conditions against relentless efforts to gut them. We passed the equality act because it is long past due to guarantee equal rights for the lgbt people of this nation. Gets big hr one that money out of our political system and it rains in the big corporations and special interests that have too much power in washington, d. C. [applause] mr. Pappas six months ago, we passed universal background checks because it is long past the time for action on the american tragedy of gun violence. By the way, we are returning to Congress Next week, and we have got to get the assault weapons ban passed as well. [cheers and applause] of course, on so many of these issues, they wait on Mitch Mcconnells desk. Thinks it is all about politics, all about preserving the power of the special interests regardless of the sentiments of the American People. That may play well in moscow, but not here in manchester. [cheers and applause] mr. Pappas if he can hear us today [crowd cahanting moscow mitch] you know, he doesnt like that. [laughter] mr. Pappas if he could not hear that today, he is going to hear us when we elect Jeanne Shaheen in a Democratic Senate next fall. [applause] mr. Pappas folks, democracy is not a one and done affair. One election can only change it so much. They cannot change everything. Ands our sustained effort engagement that determines our longterm success. I grew up in a Family Restaurant business just up the road. I learned that every day is an all hands on deck kind of day. I learned no job should be too big or too small for any member of the team. That is why so many folks stepped up to run for office in 2018 who might not otherwise have thought about it. That is why all of you are here today, because our democracy requires us to be of use. We have got to keep working. We have got to keep our eye on the ball. A, the chaos of the trump er we cannot lose sight of what is at stake. This nation is much more kind, decent, generous, bighearted, and forward thinking than what donald trump represents. We do not live in Donald Trumps america. This nation belongs to all of us. It is up to us to stand up and reclaim it. Lets work hard. Lets stand up. Lets stand strong. Lets stand together, shoulder to shoulder in 2020 and make sure we elect democrats up and down the ticket. Lets get to it. Thank you so much. [cheers and applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage secretary julian castro. [applause] mr. Castro good morning. Hello, New Hampshire. I heard that i was coming to visit with the rowdiness, loudest, proudest democrats in all of the United States of america. [cheers and applause] mr. Castro i have to say that yall are living up to your reputation. I want to give a shout out to your senators, shaheen and the representative annie kuster and representative pappas, Maggie Hassan, chairman buckley, all of our financial democrats who are going to make sure that we beat Mitch Mcconnell and that we have a Democratic Senate. [applause] like many of you, my immigrants American Dream story. I grew up along with my twin brother and my mother and grandmother. Here with her sister because they lost their parents, and her closest relative lived in texas. She worked as a maid, a cook, and a babysitter. She raised my mother as a single parent, and my mother raised my brother and me as a single parent. My brother and i are proud products of the Public Schools taxes. [applause] i had the opportunity to go back home to san antonio and to become the first in my family to be a professional as an attorney and then enter Public Service and serve on the city council, represent my hometown as mayor, and serve president barack obama as secretary of housing and urban development. [applause] that time, iuring had the chance to visit and work with 100 different communities in 39 states. I am running for president because i know that we already live in the greatest nation in the world, and we can Work Together as one nation toward one destiny to make it even greater in the years to come. I am running because i know there is going to be life after donald trump. [cheers and applause] and the important part of all of this is what is that going to look like . That the destiny for this great nation in the years to come is to be the smartest, the healthiest, the fairest, and the most prosperous nation on earth. If we are going to be the smartest nation on earth, we need to start early with universal prek for three and fouryearolds. We need to improve k12 education by paying teachers what they deserve. Reducing class sizes, making sure that outofstate universities, community colleges, and jobs Training Programs are tuition free so folks can afford them. We know that jobs require more knowledge and skill than ever before. This newo equip generation with the skills they need to prosper. If we are going to be the healthiest nation on earth, we need a Different Health care system. The grandmother i grew up with had diabetes, and as my brother and i got older and older, we watched as her condition got worse and worse until right before she passed away, she had to have one of her feet amputated, which is very common for severe diabetics. She hadle time medicare. I want to strengthen medicare for the people who have it and make sure it is available to every Single Person that wants it so everybody can get great health care. I want to make sure we do things we should have done a long time distinctiond the between physical health care and Mental Health care and invest in Mental Health care for everybody who needs it. Making sure that we are the healthiest nation also means protecting a womans right to choose, investing in Reproductive Health care at a time when it is under assault. If we are going to be a fairer nation, we need to reimagine our criminal Justice System, investing in public defenders legalizing marijuana, and a diversion programs so that instead of ending up in jail, more young people are able to reach their dreams. Starting right where the criminal Justice System does. I am proud i was the first candidate to propose Police Reform in the United States so that we dont see more cases like eric garner or michael orwn or laquan mcdonald. Andra bland or Pamela Turner no matter who you are in this country, no matter the color of your skin or what neighborhood you are growing up in, you are treated the same, you have the same values, you feel every bit as part of this country as anyone else. If we are going to be the fairest nation, it means passing the equality act so that no matter your Sexual Orientation or gender identity, you cannot be discriminated against when you go look for a job, house, or an apartment. [applause] mr. Castro if we are going to be the most prosperous nation on earth, we have to take seriously the most existential threat to our nation and our world. I will leave on climate lead on Climate Change, invest in a green new deal, get us to net 0 by 2045 and grow Clean Energy Jobs in New Hampshire and iowa and texas. I will ensure that prosperity in the years ahead means prosperity for everyone by raising the minimum wage to at least 15 an hour and then indexing it so we dont have to fight for it year after year, investing in Affordable Housing because in New Hampshire like a lot of other states the rent is going through the roof. Housing is a human right. Everyone should have a safe and decent and affordable place to live. We can make that happen in our country. We also have to ensure that we reform our immigration system. I have a totally different system on immigration from this president. I believe we can maintain a secure border but treat people with compassion and common sense. No more children in cages. No families separated. Were going to keep families together. We are going to harness the potential of immigrants. We are going to treat people with respect and humanity. We are going to show the best of what america is, not the worst. State is of this great live free or die. I want you to help us live free from donald trump starting on january 20. That, we going to do cannot do the same old thing. If we are going to do that, we are not going to win by trying to be safe. We are going to win by being bold, by being fearless, by standing up for our values. That is what i have tried to do in this campaign. The mobile little, we have been getting stronger and stronger. I came here today to ask you for your support. I hope you all will be ambassadors to this campaign. I am looking forward to the debate on thursday. [applause] believe that we are picking up momentum, and we can win when you will vote on february 10. Win in texasn to and california and defeat donald in november 2020. 2021,n january 20, someone asked me what is the first thing you would do as president . I said i would sign our reentry into the paris climate accord. My favorite moment would come earlier in the day when it is traditional for the incoming president to usher out the outgoing president. I can just imagine being there, getting ready to usher out donald trump and melania trump. The helicopter will be off in the distance with the door open, ready to go, and then ready to go back to maralago in new york or somewhere. Leaves,t before he right before he goes, we are adios. Tell him, thank you very much. Thank you, New Hampshire. Thank you. [cheers and applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage democratic executive counselors. [applause] good morning, everyone. It is a pleasure to be here at this 2019 Democratic Convention with my colleagues on the governors executive counselor. We all know that we need to replace donald trump. Hear we have a chance to from 18 qualified and intelligent and passionate and compassionate individuals running for president. Any one of them would be better than who we have in the white house now. I would be better. [applause] when you think about it, the republicans in washington and in wrong on almost all the important issues and challenges we face today. Gun violence prevention, climate , education andy education funding, gerrymandering, health care, Voting Rights, and judges. All alphabet of wrong. One of our most important duties as counselors is to vote on the governors nominees to sit on our court. Nominatedor recently a man to serve on our five member New HampshireSupreme Court. Not just one of the justices, but the chief justice. This individual has never worn a judicial robe and has never tried a case. Of right wingry republican activism and was selected by the governor and his very partisan judicial nominating committee. Gordons chief of staff washington for many years. Of the josiahr bartlett center, a rightwing organization here in New Hampshire, not just a member, but in officer in that organization. This nomination came after the governor placed to very conservative Supreme Court justices just this last year, one of whom was a very partisan activist republican. After a public hearing, we democrats on the council determined that he was not a good choice for our powerful Supreme Court. When we voted to reject this confirmation, the governor had the nerve to accuse us of playing politics. It is she who is playing politics, trying to change the balance on the court. He is playing politics by vetoing gun Safety Measures and antigerrymandering and other bills that our legislature has sent to his desk. Yes, donald trump needs to go, supporteror, a strong of trump needs to go with him. Thank you. [applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage New Hampshire state representative steve would dress to introduce congressman john delaney. Good morning, democrats. I am representative steve woodcock. Today, i had the distinct pleasure of welcome to the state the 2020 candidate who has inspired me and so many others in the Granite State with his campaign for real solutions. Earlier this week, i endorse john delaney because he is a truth teller. He believes in bipartisanship. He is bright. He is energetic. He has a history of getting done. Both as an entrepreneur and a congressman. John delaney is a moderate, and i dont think that is a dirty word. John has won three terms in the u. S. House of representatives, unseating and incumbent republican in a purple district. Legislationd major on bipartisan issues like Climate Change and infrastructure, uniting lawmakers across the political spectrum. During johns career as an entrepreneur, he did more than just talk about creating jobs. Himselflly created jobs through his company in health care and finance. He even won an award from the Obama Administration for work investing in low income communities. Today, our country is in urgent need of action on issues of health care, economic opportunity, and Climate Change and more. Delivera leader who can laserlike focus on real solutions. That is why i believe in john delaney, and it is my honor and pleasure to welcome him to the podium at todays New Hampshire state Democratic Convention. Congressman delaney. Mr. Delaney thank you, steve. Thank you for that nice introduction. Good morning, New Hampshire. It is such a great honor to be with you this morning and to stand with so many great candidates and to have the opportunity to share the stage with your extraordinary congressional delegation. I want to thank your chairman ray buckley for organizing this nice meet and greet this morning for us all. You for theank wonderful welcome you have given me and my family as we have traveled around your state over the last several years. Thank you very much. Important thaty the next president of the United States understand how connected everything is. Several weeks ago, we watched in , ther as the amazon burned lungs of the world. Why did this happen . It happened because farmers in brazil burned trees to clearfield to grow soybeans. Why did they want to grow soybeans . The largest buyer of soybeans in the world, china, is no longer buying soybeans from the largest seller of soybeans in the world, the United States of america. Stupid trade war, which is destroying farmers all around affectedtry has also our ability to deal with global warming. It is interconnected. This week, we watched as the deal with brexit, something that has grown out of protectionism and that will certainly destabilize the european union. You know who is happy about that . Trump and putin. That is right. Hou at home, we watched our president engages in a war against immigrant children, children separated from their families, children he is trying to deport who are here getting critical medical services. We are better than that. All of us are better than that. We watched as we are. We watched as our congress will not do any to deal with common sense gun safety. Gotten so bad that when i was in manchester last year, a young Police Officer told me the most popular item parents were buying for their kids in Elementary School was not some new parents sneakers or some toy, but it was bulletproof kevlar backpacks. That is how bad this has gotten. We watch how this president does nothing to help the economic struggles of hardworking americans who are suffering from costsy and high housing and expensive drugs and a lack of opportunities. All of these things are connected. These are some of the defining issues of our time. We need new leadership to deal with them. We need a modern Democratic Party to confront these issues. We need leaders who understand that the world is interconnected and interdependent. And the United States should not be retreating, but we should be leaving. We should be leaving on climate. Be leading. We should be leading on climate. We should be leading on human rights and security. Isolationism is the wrong answer to every question and the Democratic Party has to have a totally different vision. We need leaders who want to invest in our future. I believe we are standing at the threshold of extraordinary breakthroughs in Life Sciences and energy. We can cure cancer. We can cure alzheimers. We can. We can do it. We can develop the technology and battery in transmission and direct air capture that can save our country and save the planet. We need a president who has a vision for the future and wants to invest in the basic research and harness the u. S. Innovation economy. We need a leader who wants to solve the problems that are facing hardworking americans with real solutions, not with ideology. The American People need solutions. As president , i promise the right or a 2 trillion for structured program, create jobs and improve the lives of our citizens. As president , i promise to double the earned income tax credit. 14 million more people will be on it, and they will get double the payment that is the single most effective thing we can do to lift up working families. Promise tot, i create a form of universal health care that allows the American People to have choice. I promise to fight for universal prek, expanded Early Childhood education, and ensure we dont have the student loan crisis we have now. These are real solutions. We need leadership. My style of leadership is different because i have a different background. I am the grandson of immigrants who had to fight hard to get to this country. I am the son of a construction worker, who was fortunately in a union. That union changed our lives. I became an entrepreneur and created thousands of jobs, and i had the privilege of serving in the congress of the United States. Im the only person running for president with real experience in the private sector and real experience in the government. That experience comes with solving problems. The biggest problem we need to solve is defeating donald trump by any measure. Nothing comes close. Trump iso beat donald to make sure we can capture the Fastest Growing party in this country, independents. In 2018, there was a roadmap. We put forth amazing democrats who built a big tent and credit party where progressives and moderates and independents and disaffected republicans got on board. That is our path forward to win the white house. There is more. Trump is the symptom of a disease, and we have to cure the disease. The disease is divisiveness. ,his is our Mission Together not just as democrats, but as citizens in this country, to find the america that has been corruption, hrough lost through inaction, lost through a sentiment that your enemy is your fellow american. We have to return to the roots that this great country and the in the liberty grew from sunlight of a cause worth fighting for, this notion that we are all in it together, and that united we stand. That is the calling of the Democratic Party at this moment in time. That is the leadership we need for this country and to defeat donald trump, and that is why i am running for president , to be the leader that can defeat donald trump and also to be the betterthat can build a future, invest in our future, solve problems and remind the American People that the united has to lead here and around the world. God bless you. Thank you, New Hampshire. Thank you for having me. Thank you. [applause] dont you know that there aint no Mountain High enough aint no valley low enough aint no river wide enough to keep me from getting to you bab e New Hampshire democrats, these welcome to the states donna snooki and members of the Senate Majority. Senator kevin cramer thomas senatorshannon shanley, don low, senator martha fuller hennessy, ator martha senator jay carney, senator malley levay, senator john morgan, and senator tom sherman. [applause] good morning, New Hampshire democrats and guests from all over. We are so excited to be here today. You know, during the 2018 , these newcle hampshire democrats campaigned on our Granite State opportunity plan. As the majority party, all of us have been working day in and day out with our colleagues to build an economy that works for everyone. We know greatest hitters do better when they have the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. [applause] ms. Soucy because of your democratic majority in the senate, New Hampshire is finally moving forward with passenger rail. Democraticyour majority in the senate, new to protect ourk most honorable citizens, our children, has been her new. We are fully funding the department of children and youth and families and keeping our kids safe by establishing the First Comprehensive childrens system of care. [applause] soucy because of your democratic majority in the senate, New Hampshire has enshrined Health Care Coverage preexistingth conditions. While we are celebrating these victories, we also lament the additional progress democrats in the senate and house would have made this year were is not for one common obstacle, governor chris sununu. [crowd booing] ms. Soucy unfortunately for the people of New Hampshire, instead of engaging in the democratic process, the governor has made a game out of reaching a record level of vetoes. This session, governor sununu has detailed 55 bills, three times as many as any in our history. [crowd booing] ms. Soucy that is why we need to veto sununu. He is working against New Hampshire families. Democrats house passed legislation to reestablish and raised New Hampshires minimum wage, the lowest in new england. What did governor sununu do . He vetoed it. We need to, say it with me, vito sununu. He cares more about his corporate special interests donors than our clean air and water. Climateht to address change in New Hampshire, but governor sununu the code five separate bills to expand energy opportunities, all while his fossil fuel donors opposed them. We need to crowd veto sununu. Ms. Soucy lobby over new hampse mothers and fathers concerned about their childrens safety. Democrats sent three reasonable common sense bills to the governors desk to enhance Public Safety and prevent gun violence. But governor sununu vetoed them all, just days after the Mass Shootings in texas and ohio. So we need to require veto sununu. Ms. Soucy we need to veto governor sununu got you think that taking care of a newborn child or a loved one is a vacation. We finally passed a medical nove bill to make sure Granite State or is forced to choose between caring for a loved one and financial security. Not only did governor sununu leave, not only did he mocked constituents who cared about this issue, but he actually auctioned off a copy of his veto signature in a political fundraiser. So we need to veto sununu ms. Soucy when we passed an independent Redistricting Commission with huge bipartisan majorities in both the house and senate what did governor sununu do, he vetoed it. Well, it is time for us to veto sununu ms. Soucy it is clear that his veto sharpies are holding New Hampshire back from making progress on issues critical to granite stators. That is why we need to veto sununu. Ms. Soucy the Senate Majority has made great progress this year. All my colleagues standing here working with our house colleagues shoulder to shoulder but we have more work to do, and we are going to need your help. That means. Move,g the Corner Office increasing the size of our majority, so that in 2020 there will be more progress ahead. So lets get together and get to work for 2020 and a progressive New Hampshire for all of us. Thank you. [applause] we would like you to join in with us as we celebrate madam president s birthday. Ok . Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you madam president happy birthday to you [applause] [indistinct conversations] [indistinct voice over speaker] [chatter] [applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage u. S. Senator kamala harris. [applause] sen. Harris whatsup New Hampshire democrats [laughter] hi it is great to be here with a bunch of incredible democrats. Hi, everybody [laughter] thank you. You. You, thank ok, come on. We have work to do. We have work to do. [laughter] [cheers and applause] sen. Harris hi, everyone. It is great to be with you. It is great to be with all of these incredible american leaders. And i want to thank the New HampshireDemocratic Party for all you do over so many years, that you have done to inspire all of us around the country. I am honored to be with you today, and i thank you for the work that you do. [applause] harris i want to thank you in particular for sending Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan to the United States senate. [applause] New Hampshire knows how to elect some really strong women [applause] listen. Ris so, i think we all know that this is a very particular moment in time, not to mention the fact that while we are all here working to talk about what we are going to do to fight for the america we believe in, the current president of the United States is golfing. So. [laughter] he has got to go. Talk for a moment about where we are. Ishink we all know that this a moment in time where the Democratic Party is leading not only on behalf of democrats, but on behalf of all americans. [applause] harris this is a moment in time i think we all know that it is an inflection moment in the history of our country. This is a moment in time that is requiring us each as individuals and collectively to look in the mirror and ask a question. That question being, who are we . And i think we all know part of the answer to that question is we are better than this. [applause] sen. Harris so this is a moment in time that is requiring us to fight for the best of who we are and fight, democrats, well we will and this is not a new fight for us. I know over the course of the last two and a half years, we have been respond and come overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, but let us remember, every great achievement, progress have made as a nation, came out of a good fight. You are up for a good fight. [laughter] [applause] sen. Harris ill tell you, i come from a family of fighters. My parents met the directive in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. My sister and i joke that we grab surrounded by adults who spent their time marching and shouting for this thing called shouting. Just fighting for the ideals of our country. Further principles of our country. That is what that was about, and that is what this is about. I was raised by a mother who was all of five feet tall, but if you never met her, he wouldve thought she was 10 feet tall. She was tough. She would say kamala, based on the life of service to others. She would say, dont you ever let anyone tell you who you are, you tell them who you are. [applause] say, you may be the first to do many things, make sure you are not the last. [applause] but she was tough. She was tough. If you ever came home complaining about something, complaining, our mother would look at you with a straight face, may be one hand on her well, whated say, are you going to do about it . Citeso i decided to run for president of the United States. [laughter] [applause] there you go. So, lets talk about the current occupant of the white house for a second. Because that is context. Weve got a guy in the white a slogan campaigned on about make America Great again, which for many of us requires a question again exactly from whom and for all of us, made it clear that they were talking about going back to something. Back to what exactly, we asked. Back for the Civil Rights Act . Before the Voting Rights act . Before roe v. Wade . Back before the americans with disabilities act . Back before title ix . Because we are not going back [applause] we are not going back. [applause] harris he came into office promising people are whole lot of stuff. He promised working people that he was going to help them. He said manufacturing industry, i am going to help you out, but now it is in a recession. We are looking at a recession. The only thing he has manufactured is chaos. [applause] sen. Harris when you look at the Record Number of global crises that this guy has got us into, that is about the only thing he can claim to be made in the usa. [applause] sen. Harris he promised people he would give them health care, fulltimepent trying to get rid of the effort will care act, and now has a bunch of attorneys general in states around the country trying to the protections we created against preexisting conditions. Protections we created is our 26yearolds could be on health coverage. Promises. L kinds of he said he was going to keep folks safe. Let me tell you, i serve on the Senate Intelligence committee, the Senate Homeland security committee, i meet with a regular basis with members of the american intelligence community. This guy got us one week away from war. [applause] sen. Harris a socalled commanderinchief who embraces dictators around the world because he does not understand that the true sign of strength is not based on who you beat down, it is based on who you lift up. [applause] sen. Harris lets talk about the issue of safety. Lets talk about gun safety. He says he will protect the American People, then he cowers n. R. A. ,ace of the and we can thank governor sununu for taking some heat apparently and thinking that is the way some leaders should lead. No, that is not the way leaders should lead. The way leaders lead is to protect our babies, be them elementary, middle school or High School Students then say to them, you do not have to and you ndure those drills, we will protect you. We will stand strong against the n. R. A. And pass gun safety laws including background checks and the assault weapons ban. [applause] we will protect our babies. That is what leaders do. So, heres the thing. Endure someto powerful forces fanning the flames of hate. A president who is trying to us. Hate among by say, democrats, in our march toward 2020m lets remember a couple of thing,. One, lets know what our hearts and with our souls and let a few will us, that in the face of us, that in the face of those who are trying to divide, we as democrats know the vast majority of us have so much in common than what separates us. [applause] live, no where you matter your age, your gender, no matter the god you love or pray to, the vast majority of us have so much more in common than what separates us. And i will tell you how i know it. I call it the 3 00 in the morning song. You know when you wake up in the middle of the night was not stuff that has been waiting on you. When we wake up thinking that thought, it is never through the lens of the party with which we are registered to vote. For the vast majority of us when we wake up thinking that thought, it is never through the lens of some simplistic demographics the polls put us in. And for the vast majority of us, it has to do with one of just a very few things, our health, our childrens safety, their ability to get an education and drive, our ability to pay bills by the end of the month. The vast majority of us have so much in common than what separates us. Fuel usif you wil let a in our march toward 2020. And let us remember that one of our greatest strengths about who we are as a nation is that we buy our nature are aspirational. We are a nation that was founded on noble ideals, present when we wrote the constitution of the United States and all of its amendments, and the bill of rights, and the declaration of independence, and those words we spoke in 1776, that we are all equal and should be treated that way. We are aspirational. We are also clear eyed. We have not yet reached those ideals, but the strength of who we are is fight to get fair. Fightis, then, is a forged out of optimism, of fight born out of knowing and believing and having faith in what can be, dumbarton i was has been unburdened by what has been. This is a fight not only for the soul of our country, this is a fight born out of love of country, and this is a fight New Hampshire democrats, that we will win. [applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage state representative from the core domain tribes. Hello. Hello New Hampshire [applause] my relatives. Thank you all for inviting me to be here. Thank you, chairman, for this invitation. And thank you to you all who have been successfully a part of every campaign, and the legislators represent our great country. It is an honor to come here because i represent idaho in the great northwest. I want to tell you how excited we are to be here. [applause] i would like to do the time to acknowledge first of all the individuals who are here. Many who have been long forgotten. These nations of original peoples who have been on the side. The years, our relatives. I come from a nation of people who believe in rising with the sun. I have stood in prayer with our elements of nature, and in that prayer, i asked for guidance. I asked for wisdom. Because when i walked into this room, i did not want into this room being about a party, i walked into this room being about love. [applause] because i come from a very rural countryside in north idaho. There, our people get i by being good neighbors, not because they are good democrats or independents or republicans, but because they are there for each other. We raise each others children. We love our land. And we want to be better people for our future. I bring a message of love because that is what i believe the Democratic Party is and should be about. When i ran as a legislature in idaho and as governor for the state of idaho, that is the message iran on. Because our countries divided by two much hate far too much greed, our country is very divided by far too much hate, far too much read. It is wholly unfortunate that that is the same future receive our children right now. It seems bleak, with the administration that we face today. It seems bleak when the corporations have all the control. It seems bleak. When we see the Republican Party right now full of lies and greed and hate. It is frustrating as a citizen of this country, as someone who a legacy of cheese of this land for thousands of years, that is my ancestry. My legacy is this land. And to have leaders who do not tell the truth to the people of hurtful, try, that is and that destroys the very fabric of the basis of this land, which is built on the iroquois confederacy. So when i look back this morning, i look back at what this country is made of, and what we are founded upon. Which is freedom, liberty and justice, but for all. [applause] ms. Jordan and not just their privileged few the privileged few. Unfortunately, that is the way things are going. So i speak to you as my relatives because in todays day generations future are relying upon our commitment to truth, integrity, to bring that isis way of life the true fabric of this nation. And when i remind our people that the true fabric of our nation is the culture of the Indigenous People of this land who have been here for many generations, it belongs to all of us. Whether you came here escaping whatever society you came from another countries, and you came here for safety and security a better future, to seek prosperity, this land is for everyone. [applause] ms. Jordan but i ask of you one thing, [applause] ms. Jordan my grandfather was a great chief of the northwest. They reminded me that the legacy ever i inherited was to make sure that we are all great stewards of the land. Notegardless of whether or you were indigenous, you are still absolutely responsible for taking care of nature. For taking care of our planet. For making sure that we are responsible in our daytoday lives of being accountable for our environment. All of that matters. So i am thankful to each and everyone of you, all of our ambassadors, everyone who is standing up for nature, standing up for the rights of water, the rights of our air quality, making sure our lands are protected and accessible for our future generations. Thank you all. Because that is what this is about. Individualbout one who sits at the top. It is about we the people, and what we can do together. Because that is absolutely what matters, is what we as a people can do when we believe. My grandmothers work from apple people, came from a culture where my grandmothers were formidable People Energy from a culture where we the women led. That is my culture. And i want that to be the culture of america. Women have ae sure rightful place at the forefront along with men. To have on a deleterious society where we are all equal. And we are getting their feet get i promise you, we are getting there we are getting there. I promise you, we are getting there. [applause] at a time when we are at a crossroads, i want to tell you that there is a great vision, and i would ask that you all believe, because it does come down to us. Our traditional ceremonies of the Indigenous Peoples here, the Indigenous Peoples are praying for everyone to make up to this great awakening wake up to this great awakening, because we all need to vote. When i go back to my original countryside, on the reservation where i was born and raised, those very Humble Beginnings reminded me that it is about party. It is about the party of love. Love will get us through and bring us to those brighter days. [applause] ms. Jordan thank you, sir. Thank you for serving. All being said, i wish you so much power and authority in your own rights to do what is right every day when it comes environment. To take action when it comes down to our private life. The United Nations just released a report of over 450 scientists who have stated that we have 12 years to take action. To reverse the climate impacts that are happening before we start seeing more droughts, devastation and more property that would be normalized in our daytoday lives. That is not what we want for our children and their future. So we have to take action now. But we take action for all of our people back home in our communities, beyond the hampshire. We have to take action by voting. Do not let anyone else speak for you. Do not let the greed of the corporations or the Republican Party speak for you. [applause] ms. Jordan and by all means, whatever your purpose is, take that with full authority. Because the true leaders will act with that moral imperative. Able to lead ourselves. We are no longer a sheep of the nation, were leaders amongst ourselves each one of us. Allk you all for supporting the good people i come across on a daily basis. Thank you for our congressmen and women who serve. Thank you to all of our veterans who are here have allowed me to speak before you in this very warm and welcoming invitation to be here in New Hampshire. I love you all. Thank you to senators shaheen and hassan for inviting me. Thank you for being such great hosts. And to all my relatives here in New Hampshire, god bless each and everyone of you. You are all in my prayers. Thank you. [applause] New Hampshire democrats, is welcome to the stage u. S. Senator Amy Klobuchar to read [applause] sen. Klobuchar hello, New Hampshire democrats. It is so great to be back with all of you in a state that i love with the Democratic Party that knows how to win. In 2018 when you turned the New Hampshire legislature blue and won bag with annie and chris, and helped us turn the United States house of representatives, back into the peoples house. [applause] sen. Klobuchar my state of minnesota and New Hampshire have a few things in common, we both love sweaters, we both love our lakes and our forests, we both have voters will have been ahead of their time when it comes to electing not one but two women to the United States senate. [applause] us, my twoor giving good friends, jeannie and maggie, and i know that was the strength of Jeanne Shaheen, Corey Lewandowski will neverks u and the strength of Jeanne Shaheen, Corey Lewandowski will never sit behind the desk at the United States senate. The similarities do not stop there. We both have states with interesting and particular geographic names. Winnipesaukee, concord, and berlin. Longestshire has the candy counter in the world. Middle soda minnesota has the largest ball of twine. You have the wonderful Seacoast Science Center that i visited last week. We have the only museum devoted entirely to spam, or as we call it, the guggenham. We start with a strong culture of independent voters. It is strong. If you dont believe me about minnesota, i have three words for you, governor jesse ventura. Just as you did in electing jeanne and maggie, we need to bring these voters with us in 2020 because as democrats in this president ial race, we dont just want to win, we want to win big. Presidency,in the yes. Do the big things we need to do when it comes to climate and health care and gun safety, we also need to win the u. S. Senate and send Mitch Mcconnell packing. [cheers and applause] sen. Klobuchar at a time when donald trump wakes up every morning trying to divide us, using immigrants as political people whottling dont agree with him, destroying our democracy with dark money and voter suppression, and allowing a foreign country to make mincemeat of our democracy, we need a candidate for president who understands that what unites us as a country is greater than what divides us. That has a track record of winning democrats and independents and moderate republicans in every place, every race, every time. New hampshire democrats, i dont want to be the president for half of america. I want to be the president for all of america. [applause] sen. Klobuchar we cant ignite our democrats to vote like never before and bring back those independent voters, and even some moderate republicans across this nation with an optimistic economic and justice agenda for this country, one that says, no, mr. President , there are not two sides after charlottesville when one side is the ku klux klan. There is only one side, and that is the american side. That is it. One that says we are not going to tolerate a government where tax cuts go to the wealthy, and the middle class is left picking up the crumbs. We believe that if millionaires chts, efinance their ya students should be able to refinance your Student Loans and afford college. We believe that big pharma and take oil dont own washington. The citizens of this country own washington. Science and in facing the existential threat of our time, the climate crisis. That is why on day one has president , i will sign us back into the International Climate twoge agreement, and on day , i will bring back the clean power rules. On day three, i will bring back the gas mileage standards. And six, i will introduce sweeping legislation to bring down Greenhouse Gases and solve this climate crisis. On day seven, you are supposed to rest, but i dont think i will. You know what else we believe in . We believe in a country where the extraordinary courage of ordinary people like that mom that shielded her baby in el those Police Officers that showed up in one minute in dayton, that the courage of ordinary people must be matched in a place of extraordinary power, and that is washington, d. C. When i am president , we will pass the assault weapons ban, we will, and the magazine. Imitation next week when we get back to washington, we will call on Mitch Mcconnell to get those myes on background checks in bill to close the boyfriend loophole. Believemerica, we instead of engaging in vanity trade wars and giving tax breaks to big oil and alienating our allies and coddling dictators, we should be a country that makes things and exports to the world, a country that promotes and unleashes ideas that lead to shared Economic Prosperity and ideals as the worlds beacon of democracy that other countries can look up to. Because great leaders make decisions not only for this generation but for seven generations for now. Democrats, we have a president who cannot even keep his decisions for seven minutes from now. Someone who gloats about the economy and then when things go wrong tries to blame everyone from the head of the Federal Reserve to the city of baltimore and the entire country of denmark. That is hard to do. In thered of a whiner white house. [cheers and applause] Donald Trumps idea of diplomacy is waking up before the sun comes up and sending out a tweet in his bathrobe extolling the virtues of kim jongun and then before the sun goes down going after denmark and greenland. Whats the difference between donald trump and greenland . Greenland is not for sale. As your president , i will pledge that i will never have my Vice President stay in a resort i own. Thats right, i dont own a resort. New hampshire is a place that h as led. You are the home of brighton woods. You lead with Great Colleges and teachers. In america there are many paths success. You believe that democracy matters. A state of beautiful covered bridges that believes in bridging the river of our divide. That is why i announced my candidacy in the middle of that blizzard in the middle of the mississippi river. Lets bridges the river of our divide when it comes to rural and urban by acknowledging that both rural and urban areas need better housing and health care, need opioid treatment. Lets do this together. Lets bridge lets bridge our digital divide. As president , i will connect every household. Highspeed internet by 2022. Highspeedusehold to internet by 2020. Lets close the transportation divide by investing in infrastructure and bring commuter rails to manchester and beyond. Lets close the democracy divide by taking on the discrimination, restoring the Voting Rights act, and passing a constitutional amendment to overturn citizens united. The opportunity and economic divides by getting rid of betsy devos and enacting my proposal to End Child Poverty in a generation. I stand before you today as the granddaughter of an iron or inor, theore m granddaughter of a teacher and forpaperman, as a candidate president of the United States. That is what this country is about, no matter where you come or who you you know love, you can make it in the United States of america. Together thatrch started the day after the inauguration. The day after that, 6000 women signed up to run for office. Up against the repeal of the Affordable Care act, and now we head into 2020. You are the welders that have made that march. You have risen up to take up the mantle of our democracy. This is how we win. I ask for your support. We will leave this ticket to victory. Thank you. [cheers and applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage president of the New Hampshire bradford. En [applause] welcome brothers and sisters. Before i start my prepared remarks, i want you all to look around at this venue at the signs, the rigging, the displays, the electronics. This venue was prepared and build by the working men and women of the International Alliance of municipal and state employees of new england. Lets give them a round of applause for a job well done. [applause] mr. Brackett as the campaign moves out of New Hampshire at some point and goes around the country, it is the expectation of the Labor Movement that the Democratic Party is going to support those who support them. [applause] by which i mean when theexpect Democratic Party has an event, we are going to have ibew cameramen, teamsters delivering products, and we want to work with you and stand with you. Labor is behind the Democratic Party. We expect the same in return. [applause] i want to talk briefly about our last election, 2018. Aflcioat election, the of New Hampshire put together our agenda for the upcoming speakerive session with and president. They put together their Leadership Teams. They built a product that we can support. Their Leadership Teams had jurisdiction of all the issues that were important to us. President of New Hampshire serving as a majority leader. My longtime friend and colleague from the ibew, senator kevin the senatechaired committee. We spent spring testifying th fr hour long time friends and before ourv longtime friends and allies. One would have restored prevailing wage requirements to state projects that were stripped away in 1985. We back a variety of strategies to substantially increase school funding, and we advocated on behalf of of increasing the minimum wage, giving workers paid family and medical leave. We moved to protect jobseekers fromst unfair demands employers about nongermane employment history. Thanks to the democratic majorities in the house and the senate, all of these bills passed the house with significant i partisan support. Thank you to our legislators. [applause] mr. Brackett we did not get everything we wanted. In some bills, we passionately opposed past despite of our efforts. As spring turned into summer, people in labor and our social justice allies had reason to be optimistic. Chris sununu had expressed support for paid family leave. He campaigned on paid family leave. He had also suggested he was open to other items on our agenda. The annual chris sununu the amiable chris sununu was no donald trump. He was willing to listen to people other than the rightwing base of the Republican Party. We rapidly learned that chris sununu offered no reason for optimism. Instead of talking about legislation, chris sununu over and over again resorted to cheap political attacks. Instead of offering actual solutions, the complaint about lainedne he comp about the tone in the legislature. Sununu looked around for people to blame. Chris sununu had the opportunity to prove that New Hampshire could get things done while d. C. , was, d c, paralyzed. To veto. E decided springtime saw the house and senate diligently work through a long list of legislation while putting together a budget that would pay our bills and offer to actually start pounds and communities. Relief to our towns and families. Chris sununu has found someone to blame for every one of his failures. The courts were to blame for his failure to adequately fund education. The executive council was to blame for his failure to nominate someone qualified to serve as chief justice. His predecessors were to blame for the opioid crisis. He even managed to blame the Vermont Legislature and incredibly he blamed the poetry forety of New Hampshire embarrassing failure. By the way, i am not too embarrassed to say that i did not know that New Hampshire had a poetry society, much less that the governor would have a fight with one. As i prepared for our annual labor day breakfast, we saw veto after veto coming out of the governors office. Im sure the governor and his corporate owners thought that these vetoes demonstrated strength. As somebody who has spent my life negotiating contracts, i know that every one of these , aoes represents a failure failure to listen, a failure to reach a compromise, and a failure to truly govern this state. [applause] mr. Brackett competent governors like senator shaheen, n, they knowa that the veto is an item of last resort. Vetoes were made for reflection, not the cheap partisan attacks and to cover up for a lack of policy imagination. [applause] mr. Brackett we in New Hampshires Labor Movement recognize the hard work done by the house and the senate and the quality of legislation that was passed. That our house and senate was prepared to listen to build a better New Hampshire, and just as importantly, we know who stood in our way. Labor in New Hampshire looks forward to working together with the Democratic Party to return the current house and senate majorities. We look forward to removing the obstacle in our way. Thank you, senator donna s lay, kevin cavanaugh, and all the activists. Later in New Hampshire has labor in New Hampshire has your back. We will work with you to get a governor who works for us. Thank you. [applause] New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage congressman beto orourke. [applause] mr. Orourke good to see you all. Hey, up in the cheap seats. Thank you all so much. Thank you. Let me just begin by telling you how much i love you all for the kindness with which you have received us, not just those that work on our campaign, not just supporters, but literally every person i met in the hall today, regardless of the candidate use of work, you have the kindness to say to me and amy with a smile on your face a word of encouragement. I am grateful to everyone and every community of this state. Every town hall we have had, you have made us feel at home. You have made us feel welcome. You have made us feel like we are doing the right thing in the right place. You take your responsibility as the first primary state so seriously. I have met those of you who have met me five ore six times and by the 10th time, you will have made up your mind. I am grateful for that. For our campaign, our supporters, our volunteers who are organizing, for those crazy 2 30rs who were here at a. M. In the wind and rain setting up signs, we have the best team we could have ever hoped for. I am grateful. I am proud of you. We will make the most of this moment we have together. [cheers and applause] mr. Orourke thank you. Listen, so many of you have been sending your encouragement and your strength and your love and your thoughts and your prayers and your commitment to the people of el paso, the people of odessa and midland, to those of west texas who have endured one massacre after another, to a state that has seen four Mass Shootings in under two years. Everything you have sent our way has been gratefully received. I was born and raised in el. Aso, texas it is a magical place. It forms the largest binational community in the western hemisphere. 3 million of us connected, not separated by the border. Forming something far greater and more powerful than the sum of our parts or the number of people involved. El paso, texas, is one of if not the safest cities in the United States, not despite that because it is a community of immigrants and refugees and their sons and daughters who make us great by their very presence. [cheers and applause] mr. Orourke on august 3 of this year, we learned that no matter wha how safe or special e are, we are connected to the rest of this country. Martin luther king remind us we are all caught, tied in a single garment of destiny. This is a violent country that loses more than 3000 of our fellow americans every year to gun violence. This is a country that has been defined by foundational, systemic racism. Since the very founding of this 1619, theugust 20, first time a kidnapped african was brought here against his will and forced to serve as a slave to build the greatness and success of this country, which is descendents would never be able to fully participate in. This is the reality of america. Sooner or later, this was going to find us. On august 3, it did when a purchased angally ak47, a weapon designed for killing people as effectively and in great a number as possible on the battlefield drove 600 miles fueled i racism, hate, and fear. It has always been part of this country that has been given new life by the president , donald trump, was called mexican immigrants rapists and criminals, who has sought to ban all muslims traveling to the United States, who called nazis very fine people. This person drove 600 miles with that hatred and opened fire with that ak47 on innocent people in a walmart, killing 22 of them and grievously wounded many dozens more. Although we are connected to the violence in this country, its racism, and though there is no shield against this president who has no honor, no morals, we are also connected to a country that at its best is defined by its ambitions and its aspirations and the hard work and resolve and dedication of the people of america who want to see them realized. This is a country that has man, march forr our lives, this is a country that has produced the leadership that will ensure that we have universal background checks and red flag laws and will end the sale of those weapons of war, but we go the necessary political steps forward. Licensing for every american who and every single one of those ar15s and ak47s will be bought back so they are not in our streets, not in our homes. [cheers and applause] mr. Orourke we are going to do that together. Produced country that boardrth carolina a p who on february 1, 1960, walked into a will is worth and tried to order coffee and was denied based on the color of their skin. They did not give up. They returned they after day until on july 25 of that year, that lunch counter was integrated. Later on, they shocked the conscience of this country and defied jim crow and segregation in this country. Those children in alabama who were arrested by the hundreds in 1963. It is that leadership in civil rights that granted us the Voting Rights act and the Civil Rights Act. Life matter that will make sure we effectively confront racism in this country, signed into law a reparations bill, and repair the damage done and stop visiting this injustice on future generations. [cheers and applause] mr. Orourke and it is this producedhat has annunciation house, a catholic that seeks topaso take care of the most vulnerable, the most defenseless, the most desperate who arrived here after a 2000 mile journey, leaving their country of origin because they have no other choice. Persecution, the the drought. Face oftion in the Climate Change, they take care of those Asylum Seekers and immigrants. At our besterica and inspire us to do the right ourg, to rewrite immigration laws in our own image, to show that we are a country of Asylum Seekers and refugees. Problem, iton is a is the best possible problem this country could have. 10are going to legalize million, including the dreamers who will never again feared deportation back to countries they do not know because we will in this, u. S. Citizens theyre true, their own country. We will never change another child and separate them from their family. And then, working together, we will make sure that this economy works for everyone, no one has to work a second or third job to pay ends meet because we them a living wage at the one job that matters to them. Health care is not a function of , but a circumstance basic human right. And every womans ability to make decisions about her own body and have access to care. [speaking spanish] thise going to work on together. Democrats, independents, republicans. Before any of those things, we are americans and we are human beings first. We will start treating each other that way. One forne else take no granted. Take everyone in. That is how we defeat donald trump and that is how we bring this great, divided country back together again. Thank you, New Hampshire. [speaking spanish] thank you all. Applause]and New Hampshire democrats, please welcome to the stage, chair of the National Democratic mittee Labor Council good afternoon, everybody. Tom is the president of the retail, ion the labor, and Department Store union. This is a very special week me as i have the photograph for me, as i have a photograph to show you why. [cheering and applause] mr. Applebaum this past sunday, facing the statue of liberty, a new york city, my boyfriend and. Were married decided that we wanted to spend our honeymoon in manchester New Hampshire with all of you. Thousands of democrats, who are committed to taking back our nation and reviving our journey toward. Ustice and equality for all my life, i never imagined marriage could be a possibility for me. , theear i was born American Psychiatric association declared that homosexuality was a mental disorder. I grew up being told that being. Ay meant you were sick homosexuality was stigmatized. Nd criminalized that did not begin to change until i was in college. When the apa declared that longer ality was no mental disorder, but was simply a Sexual Orientation disturbance. [laughter] i am hereaum and now today, doing what would have been unthinkable me most of my life, sharing with all of you how, just six days ago, i was married to my boyfriend, the love of my life. [cheering and applause] mr. Appelbaum i am still amazed. But for me, there are several lessons from this. In comprehensible, inconceivable, unimaginable, extraordinary, enormous, and rapid change is possible. This is not just true for the lgbtq community, but it is true for everybody. The lgbtqly, it happendid not make by ourselves. We had allies and supporters who believed in our cause, and just as others supported us in our struggle, we need to support them in our struggle as well. Is indivisible. Forcan not be for justice some and not for justice for all. Includes justice for poor people, for women, for communities of color, for immigrants, for the trans community, for every marginalized community. And it includes justice for working people. Union, head of the labor i know that too many working people are struggling in this , eveny just to survive when the economy is supposedly doing well. It is not doing well for them. They need to or more jobs just to try to make in smedes make et, and your parttime job may come with unpredictable hours i know health care. College for your children, for your self, may seem on attainable worry about what you are going to do may seem unattainable and you worry about what youre going to do when you need a job or retire. Things are only getting worse for your congress has not raised the minimum wage for a decade, the longest stretch without such an increase since the federal minimum wage was first enacted in 1938. Afterate legislature another has passed right to work laws, reducing working peoples bargaining power. Chop told working people he heard there trump told working people he heard their concerns. But look of the record. He has rolled back the obama era regulations extending overtime pay to millions more workers. He killed the rule that required wall street firms to act in the best interests of workers when overseeing their 401 k plan. Has nominated a labor secretary a labor secretary who has spent decades fighting on behalf of corporations to weaken worker protections. [crowd booing] mr. Appelbaum as we say in the Labor Movement
