easy to break. he had a long history of drug abuse. that affected many of the things that he did in life. it kept him in prison for many, many years of his adult life. so i think that the witness that mentioned that word "fragile" was trying to say he's on the edge. he could crumble. he wasn't leading a good life but perhaps it's still a life worth saving. >> michael, what was the most effective thank you think from the defense's witnesses today? >> we heard from one woman who's known him since he was a late teenager in his early 20s and she said he was always a gentleman. he said he was always apologizing. was remorseful for his failings. but she said that as a criminal, he was pathetic. the word she used he was a klutz. he was a klutz of a criminal. and that he was always a follower and never a leader. that's important because the defense is going to say that the real leader in this case, in this horrible, horrible crime was the co-defendant, joshua, who will be tried next year.
