how do we pay for extending unemployment benefits, that issue has not gone away, even though senator bunning 's blockage has gone away, because we're about to start debating in the senate a long-term extension of unemployment benefits and reimbursement to doctors for treating medicare patients. it's a long term deal. that's what's being debated. the cost is $145 billion over a ten-year period, and the question remains, who pays. is this simply going to be borrowed, and added to the decifit, or are we going to take the money from existing appropriations or raise taxes. senator bunning raised the issue who pays, and that has not been answered, even as the debate goes on. martha: you know, there are the issues of jobs stimulus here and the issue of medicare that's supposed to get cut by $500 billion in order to pay for this plan. we're going to talk about that in great detail, but i think the larger issue you raised, stuart, is resonating so clearly, who pays.
