Looks like it will still continue on as a category four as it approaches the florida coast as we head toward late saturday into sunday and over the next several days, moving up the Atlantic Coast of florida. Weve been tracking a few of those spotty showers moving through, looking live right now in San Francisco with some breezy winds as well. And looking at san jose. Where we are seeing some mostly cloudy skies all because of a quickmoving disturbance moving through. As we look now at emeryville, it is quite busy out there, and we are still seeing the low clouds and at times light rain falling. Its just enough rain to make things yet turn on the windshield wipers. Makes your car dirty and moves on. Our temperatures are in the upper 60s to lower 70s with high temperatures today. So a lot of those showers moving to the north and were still seeing some of those moving into marin county, approaching Sonoma County. One little shower there that will continue to track off towards the north and east. For the rest of us, rain so light its barely being detected on the radar. The models still show we will have a chance as we go through at least the first part of the day. There will be label the of clearing inland, expect a mostly cloudy day and thats what will help keep those temperatures down as we bring in a little bit of subtropical moisture out ahead of a cold front. We are still going to have that chance of some rain later tonight, especially for the north bay and in San Francisco. So just watch out for that. Not expecting a whole lot out of this, maybe a few 100ths of an inch. Measurements along the coast. Halfmoon bay up to. 600 as we go into this evening. And after todays chance of showers, all of this clears out, dry things out and well have temperatures in San Francisco in the upper 60s for the start of the weekend. Then up to 76 degrees on sunday. Little bit of warm to start out next week with another chance of rain on tuesday. For the inland areas, we will have that chance of showers highs around 80, 85 tomorrow, and then look at how warm it will be this weekend. Im not going to call it hot because last week, really set the standard there, but were still going to have those comfortable temperatures up to 96 degrees, and then another chance of showers inland as well on tuesday. Look at all the details and all of the facts, weve had president s for 25 years now, theyve been talking, talking, talking, and the day after an agreement is reached, new work begins in north korea. Continuation on nuclear. So i would prefer not going the route of the military, but its something certainly that could happen. Our military has never been stronger. And each day new equipment is delivered. New and beautiful equipment. The best in the world. The best anywhere in the world, by far. Hopefully were not going to have to use it on north korea. Carrie hall is still tracking irma and a little rain here. Yeah, couple of light sprinkles around the bay area this morning. And were still seeing the clouds overhead as we take a live look outside in san jose. As we go through the neighborhood of campbell, we will be reaching up to 80 degrees today and still more clouds throughout the evening. We will talk about what you can expect heading into the weekend and an update on irma coming up next. Last week the historic heat wave. This morning the sobering reality. Three elderly people died in San Francisco and as we ve this morning, the sobering reality, three elderly people died in San Francisco as weve uncovered. Nbc bay areas gene elliott reports where many are under fire for how they handle the heat. San franciscos supervisor aaron reacting to a report from the medical Examiners Office. Three elderly people from 80 and 97 died alone in their homes from heatrelated illness. The deaths happened during the recordsetting Labor Day Holiday heat wave, and they add to a growing list of questions about how well city agencies were prepared. He is already planning to hold a hearing to find out where more ambulances werent scheduled. Emergency calls spiked with the temperatures as our Investigative Unit first reported San Francisco fire was forced to call for mutual aid asking ambulances from other counties to help respond. He says the city has a heat wave plan, but he isnt sure it was implemented well and lives were lost. The fact that we were not able to put protocols in place to prevent that from happening whether it was city officials and employees looking after elderly folks or whether it was the city issuing warnings so that neighbors would check on neighbors, i sadly feel that San Francisco is caught flatfooted. Reporter he says he received more warnings from city officials about the patriots prayer rally than he did about the now deadly heat wave. Nbc bay area news. That was jean ellie reporting. Information about the victims are and where the city and where the city they where in the city they died is being released that the point. Its possible the number of deaths connected to that heat may increase. We indeed saw three more casualties in another county san mateo county. The medical Examiners Office is waiting for test results in the other death cases and hearing on the heat wave response is set for september 20th at 21 hall. Well be there. Our Investigative Unit first uncovered San Franciscos decision to call for extra ambulances to help with all of those heatrelated calls and to see our exclusive story, go to nbc bay area. Com, click on the investigations tab. Well not that kind of heat right now, but weve had the muggy heat which is, you know, almost as difficult for folks who have compromised immune systems. Yeah, weve had the nearby wild fires burning so that also creates unhealthy breathing conditions. It is going to be heating up here, but weve also been tracking irma, and here is a current look at what the hurricane is doing now as it moves very close to the turks and caicos. Right now we have wind speeds sustained at 175 miles an hour. So it will remain a very powerful category five as it moves just to the north of cuba and then into the islands of the bahamas as we go into the next 24 hours. And then as we see it approaching the south florida coast, it will be happening on friday evening with some of the outer rain bands, not expected to make land fall until about saturday night into early sunday morning, it could still be a category four hurricane as it moves into south florida. Some of the tracks have been taking a little bit further off towards the east which would be definitely an improvement over some of the previous forecasts weve seen and then as it moves up the atlantic side of florida, still expected to remain a category three as it makes land fall once again around South Carolina and georgia. To many folks watching this and we all have some friends and family in this area that might need too check in with and make sure theyre going to be okay or have a plan during that hurricane. And then right behind that, we have hurricane jose, which has definitely intensified in the past few hours, and now has wind speeds105 miles an hour. This may become also a major hurricane and moving very close to some of those islands that have already been hit by irma as a category two at least and then curving off towards the north. So this one not a threat to the mainland of the u. S. And then we have hurricane katia, which is not even moving right now. We are seeing Stationary Movement with this, and wind speeds within that hurricane at 80 miles an hour. This could strengthen to a category two and still expected to move into the same area of eastern mexico near vera cruz as we go into saturday. A lot of things watching in the tropics as we will continue on here with some fairly quiet weather. And the seven day forecast is now coming up at the bottom of the screen as we take a live look outside, mostly cloudy skies and a temperature now of 70 degrees. In beckly, its 68, and our high temperatures today will be reaching into the upper 70s to lower 80s. This is a little bit cooler than where we could be for this time in september, but, i think well take it. Well be up to 82 in danville and hayward looking at a high of 78 degrees. 75 in palo alto and daly city, expecting a high of 69. Also some upper 60s in San Francisco, and the north bay into the mid to upper 70s for today as weve seen a little bit of spotty rain moving through. Were still tracking that as we get a look at the radar. We havent seen a whole lot of activity here, mainly some very light showers, you probably saw them this morning as you are getting out the door. And then as we look at the radar now, a lot of the rain weve been seeing hasnt been detected on radar, so as you look at the app on your phone, youre not seeing the whole lot of activity there, but there still will be that possibility of just enough of a light shower moving through and then the possibility of a few more of those showers picking up in the north bay later this evening. In if youre making plans for the weekend, the weather improves. We dry out and saturday for the art and wine festival, were going to see the highs there in the low 70s, a lot of events going on around the bay area this weekend. Looks like well have some nice weather, but it does heat up on sunday and well continue to keep you updated on that. Ill have another quick look coming up a little bit later. East bay neighborhood not sleeping easy after being run off by rats. One woman even forced to move out of her home because of the pests. No, i cant. This makes my skin crawl.
