Live to sfo, a major blow to Airline Workers as two of the nations Largest Airlines announce plans to furlough workers amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. That impact will be felt right here in the bay area. Lets check in with today in the bay kris sanchez live at sfo with what we know so far. Good morning, kris. Well, good morning to you, laura. I was just on a plane yesterday and its obvious even to a regular joe like me that Airline Travel is still down and the airlines say that with fewer people flying, they cannot keep workers on the job without some federal assistance and that federal assistance has expired. So, heres what we know about those possible furloughs of employees. The planned furloughs of today. More than half of which are flight attendants. 19,000 american Airline Workers will get furlough, as well. Still a pending request for 25 billion in psp aid and that federal Assistance Program and the negotiations in washington continue and the last round of federal aid expired yesterday. Now, Airline Travel is down 70 and despite cost cutting, the airlines say they cannot keep people on the payroll without that federal help. In letters to employees, the United Airlines ceo called it a sad day that comes after months of cost cutting. The American Airlines ceo echoed the same sentiment that adding that they contact their elected official. Enormous bipartisan support for an extension of the Payroll Support Program which will keep those people employed and the only problem we have is we dont have a vehicle for getting it done. We dont have a backup plan, ill be in the unemployment line like so many other people. The airlines say they will recall those workers back to the job, if they get that federal assistance and there are negotiations that continue today. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin will negotiate today as they did yesterday. If something comes of that, well let you know as soon as possible because with a huge united hub here in the bay area, we know a lot of families are going to feel the hit if it doesnt come through. At sfo, kris sanchez, today in the bay. Thank you. San francisco restaurants are back open for Indoor Dining for the First Time Since march. China live on broadway has set its tables and welcoming diners last night. One of the challenges for them is that they have so much space right now. So, so many of them for nearly 200 days they still had to pay rent and energy costs. Now, all restaurants in the city they have 25 capacity indoors up to 100 people. So that only means for 16,000 square feet, 450 diners, but its a start. This is my favorite place. So when i hear we can open up and theyre opening up indoors, this is the first place i thought to come and visit. The restaurants must have Health Screening for diners and you will have to wear those masks at all times unless, of course, youre eating or drinking. Well, speaking of reopening. Las vegas is on its way to resume conventions and concerts. Nevadas governor is now allowing gatherings of 250 people or 50 of a venues capacity. Event venues like the raiders new home they can now start applying to reopen. They have to show that safety protocols will be in place. Well, a lot of folks just staying close to home, though, these days. And you probably need to stay indoors a little bit more as that smoke continues to hover over the bay area. Red flag warning, kari. Yeah, weve been talking about that. The spare the air alert and the heat advisory. So, we are going to have some hot weather later today and right now its nice and cool with our temperatures in the upper 60s. And watching these temperatures move in the north bay around the area of the glass fire because the cooler it is, the better. And weve also had some higher humidity in these areas where right now were at 63 degrees in st. Helena. That heat advisory including much of the bay area except for the immediate coastline are heading into the triple digits today. And even some 70s and 80s near the bay as our highs reach as high as 102 degrees today in antioch. Ill be watching this. Well talk about the weekend forecast. Mike, whats happening out there right now for the commute . Well, aside from people getting warmer apparently, were looking over at the bay bridge toll plaza where the backup is getting a little more volume. Still the middle lanes on the approach and coming off 880 the overcrossing there. No metering lights on and the flow down the east shore freeway and approaching the bay bridge still lighter than you might expect and good news for the Speed Sensors and slowing on the approach towards San Francisco, as well. Around fremont street. And little build and a crash reported 580 and got my eyes on that and no surprises for the trivalley south bay or for the peninsula. Back to you. Lets hope it stays that way. 6 10 right now. Hollywood is sounding the alarm. Coming up next, the movie industry says its in big trouble unless it gets help fast. Who theyre asking for help, next. Plus the most important thing happening in washington right now is that talk over a stimulus plan. We could get a vote today. Wall street seems rather positive about that, in fact, as we go out to the futures and the dow industrials expected to trade high. Well, scott, are you ready. Oh, yeah, saturday night live returns this weekend. What host chris rock is saying about tuesdays president ial debate and who he watched it with. 6 10 for you this morning. Youre watching today in the bay. Right now at 6 13. Lets get a look at our air quality today. Unhealthy for the north bay and inland east bay. More of the same tomorrow. But then we go from unhealthy to moderate by the weekend. Well talk about the changes in our wind direction, as well as our temperatures. Thats coming up in a few minutes. Well take you out there, folks, awhere we have one crash over and the bay bridge toll plaza that looks smooth. We still have just the middle lanes with the backup and no metering lights. Well take you out to the map and show you where that crash is and it will slow you down a little bit because nails and debris in the area. This is camino de ablo. Well, good morning. Very happy thursday to you, as well. We just got the latest data on jobless claims. 837,000 fellow americans going to the Unemployment Office for the first time last week. It is fewer than expected. We get the big jobs number tomorrow along with the unemployment rate, as well. Were also keeping our eye on washington. Theres still no deal on the stimulus bill. Democrats had passed one last spring but the senate and the white house turned it down. Now, nancy pelosi is working with treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin to try to craft a new bill. So far, republicans dont like what they see. The current bill returns the extra 600 a week federal unemployment payment, cuts another stimulus check for families and increases funds to the post office and adds new Financial Support for airlines. But it sounds like that is going to come too late. Our own kris sanchez has been reporting and well lay off tens of thousands of workers today. Had that bill come yesterday. It might have been a different story. Perhaps well see if airlines will wait until the very last second before pulling the trigger today. Some good news on the financial front. The president this morning signed the bill that came from congress that will keep the government open through the election and california just set a real estate record. The median house price for the whole state is now above 700,000. That would be a good price in the bay area. But were talking about the whole state. Meanwhile, Mortgage Rates continue to fall. A 30year fixed conforming mortgage is now the lowest its ever been more than 3 . Adjustables are in the twos. That brought lots of buyers to the market. There still arent enough homes to satisfy demand. The increase just, weve never seen anything quite like it. There could be six to ten people in certain pockets, especially in the bay area, all competing for the same property. You know, laura and marcus, we talk about people moving out of the bay area because of the weather, the economy, covid or work from home, but the number of people who still want to be in homes is so high that it almost doesnt matter how many people move out. There will still not be enough homes for sale. Yeah, absolutely. Scott, thank you. Very competitive. All right. Thanks. Well, new this morning, hollywood is asking congress for help. That includes theater owners, directors, producers and writers. They sent a letter to capitol hill asking for financial help or they fear movie small to midsize theaters will not survive the pandemic. And the impact will be felt throughout the entire industry. According to the letter, 93 of theaters have lost more than 75 of their revenue. Trending for you this morning lakers star lebron james is helping get out the vote with just 33 days until the election. His new Voting Initiative has recruited 10,000 poll workers, according to a twitter post. And to thank them, former president barack obama made a surprise appearance in a virtual crowd during last nights game. This is nba finals between Los Angeles Lakers and miami heat. Now, a number of firsttime poll workers were also among the virtual fans. The lakers ran away with the game 116 to the heats 98. Okay. Whos ready for this . Saturday night live back this weekend with a brandnew season with a live studio audience. Check out the social distancing table reading. Chris rock is hosting and hes actually on ellen today talking about watching the first president ial debate with jim carrey who will be playing joe biden on snl. And to watch him watch joe biden and then do joe biden and then maybe do a little trump and then do a little clint eastwood. You all probably had more fun than any of us watching that debate. That seems like you all had fun. We were all terrified. You can bet the first debate will be showcased on snl saturday night. Chris rock says it should be interesting. By the way, you can catch that full ellen interview right here on nbc bay area. I have to admit while i was watching the debate, i was thinking, saturday night live is going to have a field day with this one. A lot of people were thinking that. You can just imagine how it will play out out on saturday night live. Im sure well have stomach aches from all the laughter this weekend. We welcome them back. Absolutely. 6 19. The forecast for us. Meteorologist kari hall tracking that for us and, kari, conditions are not the best out there. Not horrible. Yeah, were going to see some improvement as we go down the line. We just had to talk about what is going on today because we have not only the red flag warping, but a heat advisory for the bay area. We also have a spare the air alert because of the smoke drifting in. And were also being asked to conserve energy for those hot temperatures today to avoid those brown outs. So, as we look at whats going on today, red flag warning has been expanded from the north bay hills over towards the east bay hills and it also now includes the santa cruz mountains. Were going to see those winds picking up today and at times those wind gusts coming up to about 30 Miles Per Hour. As we go through this forecast, a northerly wind brings in that smoke and were going to see some higher wind gusts, especially starting this afternoon. The red flag warning goes into effect at 1 00, but i think some of the highest winds will actually be tomorrow afternoon. Look at what the forecast shows. Northwesterly wind at 25 to possibly 35 Miles Per Hour and may be higher in some of the upper elevations. That may spread those flames very quickly, especially around the area of the glass fire. So, were watching that. Today is just going to be really hot. We can see the reason why we have a heat advisory. Were looking at temperatures over 100 degrees. Up to 95 in the south bay and 102 in antioch. Ukiah reaching 101. Very dry weather pattern but the reason why the winds are picking up is because we had this large storm system up moving through canada. So, as it moves closer, those winds will really start to rush in. And, so, the good news is that today, october 1st, begins our rain season. And, so, we look forward to that because we are in a severe drought. And theres something a little bit more hopeful in the future well be watching going into the end of next week. Once this High Pressure moves out, we are going to see some cooler temperatures moving in for the weekend. And the models are even hinting at possibly by the end of next week, there may be some rain. So, i cannot wait for that. In the meantime, we do still have to deal with the hot weather and the weekend we are going to see some improved air quality just slightly, but, of course, those fires will still be burning and that is barring no new fires get going during the red flag warning for today. A lot to watch for and, of course, well keep you updated. Mike, what is the update on the morning commute . Well, kari, i like the word hopeful. We are always hopeful for those conditions. Youre talking about at the bay bridge and maybe inevitable for the metering lights because they were turned on even though traffic is lighter on the approach and the traffic fills in the middle lanes and filling in all the lanes except for hov and three or more, remember that. As we look at the map, we show the arrow shows you the top of the bay bridge toll plaza. If you dont, if youre not told to go there, of course, youre told to stay away. Contra costa county moves very smoothly and the bay, south bay and peninsula no big delays there. In fact, hardly any delay at all and also look at Castro Valley over on the left side of the screen. Traffic is lighter there. Mild flowing throughout the trivalley and Castro Valley for 238. Youre back at speed. Back to you. Thank you very much, mike. It is 6 22 right now. Heartbreak and sadness. Coming up next on today in the bay. What Chrissy Teigen is sharing about a miscarriage she suffered but the touching tribute that shes actually sharing this morning. Thats coming up next. In the bay area, we believe in science. Traffic and air pollution will be even worse after the pandemic. Thats why we support measure rr to keep caltrain running. Which is at risk of shutdown because of the crisis. To keep millions of cars off our roads, to reduce air pollution and fight climate change. And measure rr helps essential workers like me get to work and keep our communities healthy. Relieve traffic. Reduce pollution. Rescue caltrain. [all] yes on measure rr. Welcome back, 6 25 this morning. New developments in the Breonna Taylor case. Approving the attorney generals request on the extension of audio recordings. They will be released to the county tomorrow. Here in the north bay a muriel mural honoring. Making that mural a permanent piece of artwork in the city. Now to the fight against covid19. New york city is cracking down on people who refuse to wear masks. According to npr, mayor bill de blasio announced the city will impose fines of up to 1,000 for pairing not wearing face coverings. The big apple has seen a 3 Positivity Rate for the First Time Since june. Well, Chrissy Teigen suffering a miscarriage following a recent hospitalization. Thats right. She actually took to social media sharing the heartbreaking news. She was expecting baby number three with singer john legend. Teigen writing in part, we are in shock and in the deep pain you only hear about. The kind of pain we never felt before. And for any family that has gone through that our hearts go to them. Brings back all the painful memories for them, too. She shared a very personal photo there. Switching gears. 6 26 right now. High fire danger along with gusty winds continues to be such a big problem in the north bay. Coming up next, we will head back out to calistoga as fire crews and residents brace for another day of extreme weather. A live report is straight ahead. Plus and i told him to back off or i was going to hurt him. Look at that. So a 67yearold california woman jumped into action saving her friend from an intruder. Well, at 6 50 this morning well tell you how she did it. Youre watching today in the bay. Taking california for a ride. Companies like uber, lyft, doordash. Breaking state employment laws for years. Now these multibilliondollar companies wrote deceptive prop 22 to buy themselves a new law. To deny drivers the rights they deserve. No sick leave. No workers comp. No unemployment benefits. Vote no on the deceptive uber, lyft, doordash prop 22. One ride california doesnt want to take. Were back with a red flag warning for the area. North, northwest winds. Right now at 6 30, back in the thick of it all. Fire crews fighting the glass fire now bracing for windy conditions and rising temperatures. Were tracking the fire fight in the north bay in its fifth day. And the heat will be felt throughout the bay area today. A live report on what everyone is asked to do today to help ease the strain on our power grids. Plus, a touching moment when a north bay home owner meets the deputy who saved his home from burning down. Today in the bay continues right now. And a good thursday morning to you, we like to call it friday eve around here. Thanks for making a part of your morning. Im marcus washington. Im laura garcia. Especially when we thought yesterday was thursday. So, that helps a little bit, right . A little bit. All right. Guilty as charged. Well check in with mike in just a little bit, but lets get a look at that forecast. Tough conditions out there, kari. Yes, we do. Were still dealing with all of the fires burning in the north bay. Been keeping an eye on the weather conditions around those fires because that makes a huge difference in how fast theyre spreading and right now temperatures have cooled off and the winds have calmed down and humidity is just a little bit lower than it was yesterday but were still going to have some hot weather for this afternoon. Were also concerned about the winds picking up and thats going to bring in more smoke for the bay area, especially in the north bay. Unhealthy air quality for the north bay and especially the east bay. Well continue to watch this, as well as the temperatures. Mike, how is it looking right now for the commute . Well, kari, getting a little shifting. Lets show you first the bay bridge toll plaza where the metering lights have been on for a while. Ill show you the maps first, i guess, guys. Im sorry. In palo alto slowing. In fact it just cleared over the last few minutes but a period of time when things did slow down a little bit there. The rest of the bay where things were moving very nicely and bay bridge toll plaza there has been a shift. Backup forms more at the toll plaza because of another factor i can see as to why they made that change. The span itself moves a little bit more smoothly. Well send it back to you. Thank you very much. We continue to follow that breaking news right now where firefighters are working around the clock to try to stop the glass fire that is burning in napa ask Sonoma County and also concerned about that red flag warning we have been talking about this morning, marcus. Cierra johnson is live for us with the latest on the fi firefight. Cierra. As you mentioned at the beginning of this half hour, it is hard to believe it is day five of that firefight. Five days here of folks in calistoga not knowing what is going on with their homes or their businesses. That evacuation prompted because of those fires and one burning just over my shoulder and that eerie, all too familiar glow of the orange flames there through those trees and right now fire investigators are working to pinpoint the cause of the fire, the fire has already consumed thousands of acres here in napa valley. We had crews in this town both day and night since that fire began. And, yesterday, sources cloesto the Fire Investigation told nbc investigates they are focusing on electric fence at dancing bear ranch on howell mountain. Our crews capture what appear to be investigators focusing on an area near there yesterday. Now in terms of the actual fire fight, at last check this blaze has swelled to 51,000 acres. Several homes and wineries as we discussed have been damaged or destroyed by those overnight flames and this battle now is not only against the flames but also the strong winds. Take a listen to what happened and what cal fire have to say. Were back with a red flag warning for the area. They are expecting some possible north, northwest winds to surface at the Higher Elevations above the fire area. That is a big concern right now. So, back out here the flames continue to swell. It was just a couple minutes ago. You could see flames moving down if it was because of the wind or some of the smoke cleared but it was a very, very active scene here in calistoga and as the investigators look into what started it the owners of the vineyards near where they believe that fire could have potentially started. They say they are aware of cal fires investigation and they are working to cooperate with those individuals. So, a lot of moving parts here in napa valley, particularly calistoga as they work to pinpoint the fire as well as continue to fight the fire. Were live in calistoga, Cierra Johnson for today in the bay. Thank you very much. Well, a very grateful home owner called the napa county sheriff a hero for saving his home in st. Helena with a garden hose. Listen to this story. Pat mcmahon spotted a shed in flames in the evacuation zone monday afternoon. He was checking on staff patrolling the area. Then he saw a garden hose and he picked it up and went to work for two hours soaking the house and trying to put out spot fires. He ended up saving that home and a prize 1956 pickup. The homeowner and the lieutenant met last night. Youre welcome. My pleasure. Im glad i could be therep. Its a miracle. You were driving by and at the right time. It feels good to do something that hopefully made a difference. He made a big difference, no doubt to that family. The homeowner says its likely the deputy saved other homes on the street by just dousing those flames. Good stories we love to hear about. The sad part of the story here with the fires. Another person has died from injuries suffered in the zogg fire burning near reading and chesta county. Four people who have been killed by the fire. It has been burning out of control since last weekend. Nearly 150 structures have burned and thousands remain out of their home and that fire only 9 contained. A statewide flex alert is being issued today. A strain on the grid because of the high temperatures. Want to take a live look out there right now where there is a growing concern for the air quality. Today in the bay bob redell is live with the big issues being watched closely. Bob . Well, this is all because of this smoke from the glass fire in napa and sonoma where we just heard from cierra. You can see it here in the night sky when you look at the moon from our Vantage Point right now and definitely has the orange filter above and sometimes you can smell it in the air. That smoky smell. As a result of bay area air Quality Management has extended spare the air days for today and tomorrow. This is a warning for children, Senior Citizens and people with heart and lung problems to stay inside and for the rest of us who want to limit your time outdoors. Also the National Weather service has issued a heat advisory for our area starting later this morning at 11 00 a. M. Running until late tonight. Temperatures go up 15 to 20 degrees above normal. Near records or even record temps are possible. Now, back out here live. This 24 hour fitness in san ramon opened with limited capacity. Its a relief for members who had to skip their runs and upotr outdoor exercises because of the string of bad air we have been experiencing. I had to work my workouts around what is going on with the air quality. Had to skip a couple. It is nice to be able to go inside. Im assuming you missed this. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Im a runner so im outside most of the time but theres a part of my workout that has to do with weight lifting and strength training. So its good to get back at the heavier weights to really up my game. Its a killer not being at the gym for 6 1 2 months. Its totally messed up the cycle of my life. Right. Dont want to be too dramatic, but a big deal. Its affects your health and affects your mind. While youre being advised to stay inside to avoid the high temperatures and condition. Theyre saying hold on the iso has issued a statewide flex alert for today. That means Everyone Needs to conserve energy use specifically between the hours of 3 00 and 10 00 this afternoon and tonight. Cal iso is predicting a strain on the grid because of the high temperatures. Reporting live here in san ramon, bob redell, today in the bay. Small sacrifice for the good of us all. Thanks so much, bob. Thats what we really have to remember when it comes to hot temperature, smoky conditions and we really should stay in and its for good reason, too. Absolutely. Were watching, also, the fire conditions that well have. All of these areas shaded in red are where we have the red flag warning that will be going up at 1 00 this afternoon now. Now this was originally around the area of the glass fire and north bay mountains but now it has been expanded to include the east bay hills along the diablo range. Elevations above 1,000 feet as well as the santa cruz mountains. Were looking at more low humidity and high winds going along with those hot temperatures that today will reach into the triple digits for some of us in the interior valleys. For morgan hill over towards concord and extending up towards ukiah. While San Francisco will be in the upper 70s, we have upper 80s today in oakland. Well talk about a slightly cooler weekend and when we can see some improvements in our air quality. Right now mike has a look at the morning commute. Yeah, kari. I had a wellplanned explanation on what is going on at the bay bridge toll plaza. Things changed in the last few minutes, again. The toll plaza does have a backup. All the lanes are filled in there on the approach except for the hov lanes. You notice the lanes just off to the left with the backup they only go to the end of the parking lot. Not that bad. The map shows you also across the span. I was seeing everything clear after you get past Treasure Island and i thought they slowed the metering lights down. There is a little bit of a change. The backup is only at the toll plaza. And the rest of the bay shows a smoother drive and across the san mateo bridge and no new incidents there and will distract and possibly block one lane. Were watching that and a little build for san jose. Back to you. All right, thank you very much, mike. Its 6 41 right now. Hello, 2020. Guess whats coming up next. Well talk about the earthquake. The swarm of them rattling a certain part of california this morning even into this morning. They have actually gone into the morning today. Measuring 2. 4 to 2. 9 in magnitude. A major blow to Airline Workers as two of the nations Largest Airlines announcing plans to furlough workers amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. And the impacts will be felt right here in the bay area. Today in the bay kris sanchez joins us live this morning from sfo internationp. Kris, talk to us about what you know so far. Well, what we know is that families here in the bay area are definitely going to feel the impact of this, marcus. You know this is a united hub. I was just on a plane yesterday and it is obvious to a regular person that Airline Travel is still really down during then pademic. And the airlines say that without people flying and without federal assistance, they just cant afford to keep workers on the job. Heres what we know about those furlou goo furloughs at this point. More than half of them flight attendants will get those furlough notices. 19,000 american Airline Workers will get notice furlough, as well. A pending request for 25 billion in federal aid, payroll assistance but the negotiations in washington continue on that and the last round of federal aid expired at midnight. Now, Airline Travel is down 70 . And despite cost cutting, the airlines say they just cant get keep people on the job. In letters to employees, the United Airlines ceo called it a sad day that comes after months of cost cutting on behalf of the airlines. The American Airlines ceo echoed the same sentiment but adding a request that employees pressure their elected officials to take some action. Theres enormous bipartisan support for an extension of the Payroll Program which will keep those people employed. And the only problem we have is we dont have a vehicle for getting it done. We dont have a backup plan. I will be in the unemployment line like so many other people. Now, the airlines say that if the federal aid comes through, they can recall those workers back to the job, but the negotiations continue. We know that House Speaker pelosi and mnuchin will talk again like they did yesterday. If anything changes, of course, we will let you know. At sfo, kris sanchez today in the bay. 6 47 for you this morning and a new study finds the biggest contributor to misinformation about coronavirus is the president. Scott mcgrew joins us now. Coronavirus was supposed to be a big topic in this weeks debate. Yeah. It never was , was it . Cornelltook a look at misinformation and the Incorrect Information about coronavirus can either be attributed to or in some way associated with the president. They call it the misinformation conversation. The report will be released today but the New York Times has a first look at it. The studys authors say the president of the United States was the single largest driver of misinformation around covid. As for the debates, the commission on president ial debates is considering cutting the candidates microphones to stop them from interrupting when its not their turn. Joe biden says hes up for whatever the commission decides. My hope is that theyre able to literally say the question gets asked of trump and has the microphone and two minutes to answer the question and no one else has the microphone and then i dont know what the actual rules are going to be, literally. But that is what seems to me to make some sense. But im looking forward to it. During tuesdays debate President Trump was asked to condemn White Supremacists and he said sure but then never actually did it even though biden and the Moderator Chris Wallace both said go ahead and do it. The president then said the proud boys should stand back and stand by. Those are his words. The white house says mr. Trump meant stand by not in the sense of stand by for action, but in the sense of being a bystander to get out of the way. Though the president now says he doesnt even know who the proud boys are. I dont know who the proud boys are. I mean, youll have to give me a definition because i dont know who they are. I can only say they have to stand down. This is very similar to what he said about former ku klux klan leader after duke endorsed President Trump in the 2016 election. Trump at the time was asked to condemn duke and refuse the endorsement and trump eventually did but trump resisted for quite some time saying he didnt know who duke was. Refusing to condemn him, even after he was informed of dukes past. Will you, unequivocally condemn david duke and you dont want his vote or other White Supremacists in this election . Just so you understand, i dont know anything about david duke, okay. I dont know what youre even talking about with White Supremacy or white susupremacis. I dont know. Did he endorse me or what is going on . You know, i know nothing about david duke. I know nothing about White Supremacists. Yeah, and were starting out with a lot of smoke. I was looking at this and you can barely see the hills in the distance. So, the smoke continuing to move in as we look at our weather conditions around the glass fire. Of course, this is something that keeps those flames from spreading so quickly when we see cooler temperatures and higher humidity. We also have a calm wind, but its going to heat up today as we look at the north bay temperatures that will be in the 90s and well see winds picking up. The reason why we have that red flag warning going up at 1 00, the models are showing a northerly wind that will increase to about 15 to 25 Miles Per Hour and maybe even higher in some of the upper elevations and then look at what happens for tomorrow afternoon. Even stronger winds across the bay area. So that may possibly fan those flames and make the fire spread more rapidly. And any new ones that develop may spread rapidly, as well. So, we have to be really careful. Along with the hot temperature that spun that heat advisory that we have. Were going to see our inland temperatures reaching into the triple digits up to 102 degrees in antioch today while San Francisco will be in the upper 70s. Now, today, october 1st, is the first day of our water year. Were beginning the rainy season, so its nice to see that we hopefully will have some changes here because we know that we are in an extreme drought at this point, especially for parts of the bay area and where we do have the fires burning very dry conditions and there is something that looks a little bit more hopeful in the forecast. As we track this storm system moving off towards the north, there will be possibly another one right behind that and once High Pressure moves out of the way and allows for that low to get in here, possibly by the end of next week, we could see a slight chance of rain so that something we are looking forward to in the forecast. Meantime, we have to make it through this hot and dry weather. Were reaching up to 101 degrees today. 99 tomorrow. And then a slight break for the weekend as well as going into the middle of next week. Mike, how is it looking right now for the morning commute . Kari, things are changing. Nothing really dramatic. Lets look at the south bay. Not dramatic north 101 shows slowing starting to build, again. The pattern weve talked about in the south bay and nothing outstanding for Silicon Valley and south 880 looked like it cleared to the shoulder and little build in the Castro Valley and heres the issue. Into byron it looks like theres slowing for byron highway heading up into the area and the crash at camino de ablo may be causing some slowing, as well. The rest of the bay approaching the bay bridge and through concord your typical slowing. Back to you. Happening now the cdc extending a no sale order for the cruise industry until october 30th. It was supposed to end yesterday but cdc says cases are surging in places that cruises would make a pit stop. 6 55 for you this morning.
