Tomorrow, looking at 114. Thats why the National Weather service has issued the advisory today and the heat warning into tomorrow through monday. So all through your Labor Day Weekend youre look at excessive heat warnings. They say thats likely to cause heatrelated injuries. Thats why they are issuing that warning. The warmest will be saturday when almost all of the bay area, specifically the inland areas and Higher Elevations, are under that heat advisory or heat warning. Temperatures could get so high, they set records beating the top temperatures from 1952. The bay area air Quality Management district says the hot temperatures combined with light winds and vehicle exhaust will create bad smog levels. The district has issued a spare the air alert. They are asking folks to work from home or take Public Transit or carpool. The temperatures at triple digits, officials want to remind people, look inside your car before locking it. Make sure you dont have your children or pets asleep in the back. Check on the elderly, friends and neighbors. Drink water. Dont wait until youre thirsty. Limit outdoor activity. Try to schedule Labor Day Weekend activities in the morning or evening if you can. You also want to use your air conditioning. But if you dont have it or dont want to put it on, go to the local mall, library or Community Center. Tropical depression harvey is moving north after pounding the texas louisiana border with more rain and flooding. It is pushing across louisiana and arkansas from today through saturday. It is expected to dump an additional 6 to 12 inches of rain through tomorrow. This comes as explosions are reported at a Chemical Plant northeast of houston. The incident, which was expected, is blamed on flooding in the area. This is a picture captured by a resident who used to work at the plant. He spoke with cbs affiliate khou. We could hear some pops and then see the flames in the smoke, from the distance. Flooding from harvey knocked out refrigeration units and backup generators inside. 21 people went to the hospital after inhaling fumes. 10 deputies. But they shouldnt have any longterm problems. Workers and residents who live near the plant have evacuated the area. At least 29 people are now confirmed dead as a result of harvey. The worst of the flooding this morning is centered about 90 miles east of houston. Today houstons Fire Department will begin a block by block search of thousands of flooded homes to find anyone who still is trapped. Vice president mike pence travels to texas today at the request of President Trump. While there, he is expected to meet with storm survivors as well as state and local officials. His visit comes two days after President Trump and first lady melania traveled to the region. There are so many people still needing help. On the fire watch now, Yosemite National park southern entrance is closed because of the railroad fire. So far the blaze has burnt 1200 acres in the Sierra National forest. Visitors to yosemite are advised to use the parks north entrances on 140 or 120. Guests staying in the south edge of the park were escorted back to their hotels yesterday to pick up their belongings. A suspect from the bay area is behind bars for a deadly crime spree. Authorities say depth Robert French died in a shootout. He was working with other officers on a stolen car detail. The women told them a suspect who was involved with the stolen car ring was inside the room. When the deputies knocked on the door, the suspect fired through the wall and door. I would rather they do it in a supervised space and get them off the streets. Opponents mostly Law Enforcement and district attorneys argue it may have an impact on crime in the neighborhood around the sites making attractive targets for criminals who would take advantage of drug addicts and it would create further conflict between federal and local drug laws. In it, he asked his employees to help in any way possible and thanked those who have already helped and even opened their doors to people who are evacuated. Uber is also helping out the victims. With Hurricane Harvey knocking out almost a quarter of american refineries, we are seeing a spike in gas prices. Gas prices in the u. S. Have hit 2 a gallon on average for the First Time Since 2015. Back in the bay area, here, locals in san jose are seeing roughly 3 a gallon at the pumps. Oakland facing around the same average. And in San Francisco, that number is 3. 18 a gallon. As you make your way through the south bay its been quiet although we are getting reports of a fire in the area lots of black smoke seen near the lawrence expressway but fire crews head there is northbound 101 doing the usual slowdowns as you make your way from 680 to 880. San mateo bridge, a little crowded westbound. About 20 minutes from 101. 80 at 101 in San Francisco, things are still looking good as you make your approach to the lower deck of the bay bridge.
