Winds already picked up compared to earlier this morning atlas peak vacaville, petaluma among some breezy spots winds will gradually increase on into the afternoon today you see that areas like vacaville in petaluma as well as down into the south bay at the tonight into tomorrow morning will be the breezy us tough conditions. This is thursday morning at 04 45am right here likely before youre getting up youll hear the wind in vacaville and calistoga sonoma, even in portions of the east bay really starting to gust pretty high and staying consistent through the day tomorrow all the way into friday morning after which point we start to see winds relaxing and that will set us up for at least better conditions into the weekend still be hot dry this weekend. But not near as windy not quite as hot either temperatures are starting to rise back into the 70s for hayward palo alto and oakland each right at 70 degrees now concord in pittsburgh as well as napa in the upper 60s temps continue to rise into the afternoon, this gets us into the mid 80s for San Francisco and oakland upper 80s in san jose and plenty of 90s. On our top story this morning, the high winds and the dry hot weather will likely mean power shutoffs tonight all across the bay area napa county could very well be hit hardest. And james i just talked with a pg spokesperson and found out that its very likely that this Public Safety power shutoff will occur. Late this afternoon and into the night, especially here in the north they will be some of the first areas that could be without power so its very likely unfortunately due to Service Issues i wasnt able export that interview for you but i can tell you what she said she said that is very likely that we will have this power shut off thats because the weather is looking the way we thought it would its looking as exactly the way meteorologist john trouble predicted it take a look at your maps you can see exactly the areas affected by this power shut off. You can see the areas all the way up in the north bay, the east bay and south bay as well as the sierras and we know that 33,000 homes and businesses could be losing their power up here in the Sierra Nevada foothills in north bay. Tonight and then 2 hours later and takes time to kind of get through to the rest of the areas in the south bay and the other portions of the sears an additional 21,000 customers could be without power and thats because of wind gusts that could be ramping up to even as high as 55 Miles Per Hour tonight that combined with our bone dry humidity thats major concern for wildfire danger in even a red flag warning has been issued so pg need looking at all of that has been you know deciding whether or not to go through this power shut off and they said its its a last resort but. These conditions are not looking like theyre going to ease up so its the that theres a high probability that there will be a power shut off tonight so if you havent done so already stephan utley time to prepare especially if you are in the north bay mountains near mount saint helene a small pockets in the east bay near mount diablo the Oakland Hills east of piedmont and near the Santa Cruz Mountains if those extra batteries get your portable phone chargers and if you have a generator which i know lot of people do at this point make sure you make sure that you have everything you need with that because thats definitely a lifesaver especially if youre still working from home and definitely getting something may need tonight as i said pg need telling me it could be as soon as even late this afternoon so be prepared. Thats really upping fire weather potential north bay areas are seeing some breezy conditions but nowhere near our peak wind gusts just yet that will be tonight into early tomorrow morning. Heres thursday morning tomorrow morning at 02 20am areas like calistoga glen ellen in sonoma seeing winds gusting in excess of 20 Miles Per Hour 3040 even 50 mile per hour gusts at times in these areas and those deepest of red hues indicating that in the east bay and of the north bay at times all the way till midday on friday. Well be in the midst of some of the stronger of wind gusts that paired with the heat only getting hotter these next few days and of course the low humidity from this hot and dry air means that fire danger will be exceptionally high and were back into red flag warning territory which weve seen wildfires growing rapidly in previous events leading up to this just the season as for the Santa Cruz Mountains red flag warnings in those Higher Elevations gust as high as 35 Miles Per Hour. All of the inland east bay that includes mountains. Inland valleys also going to be affected by red flag warnings into midday friday. All of solano and napa counties and non coastal areas of sonoma and marin counties affected with gusts as high as 50 to even 55 Miles Per Hour at those mountain tops winds and heat and even warm all the way out to the coast golden gate park, its 82 today while areas like Half Moon Bay up to 81 temperatures along the bay shore will be noticeably warmer than they have been sharing a range of 80s to 90s. Redwood city and san carlos up to 91, well be seeing more and more 90s in the forecast right along the bay come tomorrow and friday and the reason behind that as those winds whole f pull out some of the hot dry air from our inland valleys towards the coast. That heat that youre seeing in those inland areas today will be spreading to our bayshore cities.
