Looks like thats going to stay all towards the south that you see dris in from the other direction due east. But anyway, its coming on the back side of this high. Thats responsible for whats going on this weekend. And you see up here, some flaring of some showers or thundershowers extending up to tahoe. It looks like towards the latter portion of the week and the weekend. Daytime heating tip. Avoid that in the summer months. Back to our high. What is it yeah, its about neighborhood here for today. Thats whats causing spike. But that is going to start drifting off towards the east. It looks like with all of this. Meanwhile, here comes our trough. Cooling us down. Can smash it down. Shut down a little bit. There we go to a finish towards the middle of the week. We reach some of the coolest numbers were going to see probably this week on wednesday. Lets get to it. Your 4 zone forecast for this hot sunday. 73 San Francisco looks like for the high today at the coast. Once we take care of some of that morning fog back to sunny into the afternoon. Meanwhile, for palo alto. Meanwhile, for the south bay numbers at 90 ish will call it getting ap to about 98 or so. Morgan hill, los gatos at 96 east bay shoreline, looking at upper 80s near about 90 or so. And here are the numbers are talking about 100 for livermore. Danville, 101, walnut creek, concord, a 1, 0, 2, 80 for berkeley vallejo. Youre looking at 83 102, fairfield with napa at 90 to 99 for santa rosa. Fours started extended forecast here for you middle. The weaker comes onshore. Wind cooler scattered clouds of thrown in here. But we stay in the 80s. It looks like this mild weather is going to hold into next weekend. But everybody else pretty much in the upper 60s already 60s taken. Hold up here up north 62, San Francisco but happened a little cooler at 55 for at least now. That, of course, changing forecasts as 73. San francisco today. 82 for oakland, 90 meanwhile for san jose. But the really hot numbers happening east of the east bay hills for the most part and then the change is going to that guy up there. Got to provide that onshore. Wind little trough in our backyard. Were looking at temperatures to happen. Still close to 100. Its tuesday. That turns the corner in cooling going to see a lot of 80s well inland in places that are looking at 100 today. Then late in the week. Question is, are we going to repeat this heat pump situation . Well stay sunny and mild into the weekend. Thats what its looking like. But there is a little bit of a bubble trying to develop again by the end of the week. Futurecast for this just the marine layer that comes back each overnight tomorrow morning. As you can see covering the bay monterey and also San Francisco. And then as we get into tuesday, watch this. What happens here . Its gets squashed monday night into tuesday. Thats the trough starting to work its magic, providing some winds to overnight. Lets get to those. We have to still a bit of a breeze working in here. Thats going to be driven by just local winds that we tend to get because podra you bring that low pressure system down and then into tuesday there come the winds do out of the southwest with this trough starting to build and thats going to provide some cooling relief. We definitely want those arrows from the opposite direction. 101, for antioch today will do about 102, conquered livermore, 100 east bay shoreline, upper 80s 90s up to the north. 73, San Francisco. Try about a 65. Meanwhile, 4 Half Moon Bay next couple of days again, hot today. Pay abigail king when abigail, so glad to have you this morning. Thank you for having me stuff. And its great to be here, of course. And you know, i feel like its every authors dream come true to have their book turned into a movie. How does it feel for you . Its been its been so much work for the past 4 years that i have actually forgotten like, this is the moment now. And this is the time to that my kids are my in the car like. This is set. Were driving to the screening for sepsis coach. We held a couple days ago. Yes, yes, and talk about that screening in just a moment here. But you also executive produce this film. So tell us about what that experience was like and how paramount approach to that process was like. Yeah, absolutely. So, you know, the whole process started with the books and trying to get the books out there as widely as possible in the Community Came out for at harpercollins, put out the first book in 2020 and then the second one came out 2022, the 3rd coming in at the end of this year. But from there was conversations with producers like to see this is a tv adaptation or a film adaptation to see this and musical or we can just lean more heavily. So the dance elements, okay. And then after that kind of the processes, fund screenwriter refund director, you cast and then we filmed in type. Hey, during had covid when the country was closed. So we joke that said on the planet on it was a lot of covid testing and then take after take after take of every until got to the final project where we together and now its coming out of office on thursday. While congratulations. That is so huge and and i want to talk about the screening as well. You had a screening recently in San Francisco. The whole theater was packed. It thats going happen in chinatown. You were had a chance to meet some of your fans and and just how did that moment strike you, too, as well . Just seeing so many people come out and support your film. The film is and all Asian American cast as well. So can you speak about just how that moment affected you . Yeah, i think especially with the these unprecedent strikes in hollywood right now, you know, the actors are not able to promote and the community has just really rallied around to support the miriam kim and a blue convo spearheaded bringing the community together. It was incredible. I think to watch it on the big everyone behind me in reacting and responding in the film really its just been me in the small screen and with just a couple in the beta testers. And then, of course, you know that the other folks have been involved in creating the program are putting the film. But it was i cannot imagine a more rewarding way to celebrate. And tell us as well about the story about love boat i pay or the love boat, but and walk. Walk us through for those of us who havent read the book yet. Yes. So as you mentioned, every wong is an 18 yearold girls who lives in ohio. She has not really learned much better and sheet. Is going to school, but she secretly longs to be the answer, not something. Shes told her parents yet, but her parents over Summer Center kicking and screaming to tie, pay to learn about language and culture and what she finds instead is this like some are free for all. Theres no parental supervision. Its a bunch of kids that have been, you know, kind model model students. Their whole lives down. The dropped off in a foreign country and they go crazy. So in the best of was very a lot of seeking out clubbing. Im taking glamour shot extent of the night life that i but really in the process making their culture their own. And its based on a real program that thousands of haitian refugees have combination. Dow stretchy from all over the world, rightwing on since the 1960s. Like a lot of my friends who are taiwanese. Im i didnt actually participate in the program. We a lot of my time with his friends. Have yourself also went through the how much of your own experiences reflected in the books . Yes, 7 was asked that question. I love that question. I would say, you know, there are quintessential about experiences. You like i mentioned this mistake out clubbing. My husband attended a couple summers. Be and his friend snuck out over this blue pipes. I didnt even know existed this hype over the killing river. Okay. My friends and i just ran out the front door with the counselors behind us. So that scene in the movie that was a direct reflection of the reality reality. Yes, see the kids just running out with the councils chasing after, you know, whenever gets and then, of course, having effect but, you know, i would say that i kind of collected a lot of these quintessential experiences from over the years and you go to parties and people talk about this like this experience that weve had. So theres a lot of like fictionalized on the you know, fun kind of adventures. But the internal journeys of the characters that that, you know, ever is trying to figure yut how can she pursue her . Passion for dance will still honoring her family that has always dreamed of her becoming a doctor those kind of more character journeys. I would say that are the external oneall fictionalized, interim ties from him. Many other areas. Very interesting. And tell to about the casting in this all Asian American cast. How involved are you with the casting process and what are your thoughts you know, people more involved the the production of the cast so that the kass is incredibly talented and from the very beginning and produces asking, what is the most important thing you want for this film . I said, you know, theres 30 different asian nation reckon characters in the novels. And theyre all different. Theyre all diverse. And want this film to reflect that diversity within our community that we see. But we didnt often see on the screen you know, they heard me and we did actually open up casting too, you know, to the world. And so i didnt get to see all of the tapes because they were is some of submissions. But i did you know, kind of the subset and then the final and, you know, ashley, about his poor place are ever it is. Yes. And the new hunger games movie thats coming up. Ross butler is our our lead directly was a cutie by beautiful, the theyre just theyre smart, wonderful human beings. And i feel so grateful that we could spend that time together on set. How does it feel to get to this point where we are starting to see more of that representation in the Asian Community reflected in. You know, books like ones youve written and also just in movie theaters. How does that strike . Know, its changed so even at the time. But it was coming out. There were still you just contracts. And, you know, in the holluwood people ending the shocked to hear the types of things. They were a bit like, you know, the opportunity replace your asian character with a nomination character for marketing those just 2 years before i got my film deal but i thrilled to see just there been so many wonderful films, everything everywhere, joyride, american born chinese, which is actually referenced in love. But was one of their favorite so, you know, since Joy Luck Club and crazy rich asians, i think what were now in in this and im just so honored to be a part of i want to point out, too, that all the books that were seeing right on the table here are all translations sets, right . Youve been here. Books been translated in many different languages and is available in many different countries. Yeah, it is as the foam. And i think that has been one of the most striking things to me that the story about Asian American girl going to tie pay is somehow resonating with audiences from all different cultures. And i think and some ways thats thats part of the benefit of having a cast of 30 different characters. Their Asian Americans is no longer the most. Interesting thing about that, any individual character and so they can be individuals. But at the same time, when you have that large cast, you can also find what is uniquely Asian American about our community, things like the centrality of family and the importance of and, you know, the community, especially as such a powerful message to share with our viewers this morning. Alright, abigail king, when the author of love boat tape. Hey, congratulations again to you. And thanks for joining us this morning. Thanks for having me, stephanie. All right. So want to check it out. 80 going on right now in antioch. Meanwhile, the east bay is looking at 70s 60s still hanging on the east bay shoreline with mostly 60s up north. 72 at this hour for novato. So we go forward with this program and break the back of the highs. A trough starts to develop. Giving us that good onshore winds. However, notice to the south. This was initially a little bit of a concern for some of that monsoon moisture bubbling up in the back side of the High Pressure system as starts to inch on towards the east. However, if youre headed up to tahoe, while the first part of the week will be pretty quiet, you might start to get those afternoon showers and Thunder Showers cooking up here each day all the way into next weekend. So just a little addendum to that. Again, the High Pressure zone is going to be right. The right idea, location today. Little bit tomorrow. Then it backs off a little bit towards the east. Things change for us. How about that . As we open up that trough from the west . Nicely about that by the middle of the week. We might be ok into next weekend, but there is still that potential of a little bit of a heat pump developing, stephanie. All right, dave, thank you so much. A new Mexican American documentary highlights the work of 7 bay area artists and their ongoing fight to preserve their culture. The film is called the muralist beautiful pain in the works to empower youth of color and honor local indigenous culture. Joining me live now to share more is the films director cuno. And 2 of the artists featured in the movie Vanessa Espinosa and francisco franco. Good morning to you guys. Good morning. Thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate it. Starting off with you, victor, tell us a bit about this documentary. What inspired you to do this . Yeah, i grew up in the san jose from the 70s and 80s. So its always around chicano culture. My closest friends were, you know, from the culture, you know, so a lot of friends or artists and whatnot and then eventually obviously meeting the mural artist definitely much more than that. There cultural proponents and representatives of their communities and activists to me. So what they do is really like my own version of like these local on some so that was kind early genesis of that. So it kind of kind of grew from there and find the kinder first in the threeyear journey. But its and its ready for. Prime time at the presidio this friday. Were all excited about that. Very exciting. Getting to this point. Im vanessa francisco. How does it feel to be part of this film . Surreal because, you know, we work very hard and dont get a lot of attention. You know, you know, to actually have it happen. And, you people are looking at us and appreciate what we do. I think its fantastic. You know, and about for you, its a true honor. All the artists are heavy hitters in the bay area and it really fuses mural with graffiti and street are in the whole movement together. So its amazing story and tell us to a bit about your art styles. And the message is that youre trying to convey. First well, my my work, as i say, its very american, even though Mexican American. But its its american because american perspective, even, you know, from our particular point of view. You know, its just fun to you know, its all about my work is like a fusion of american pop culture and my own cultural heritage. I think more about, you know, representing that there is you know, there there are people like me out here, americas out here that like myself. You know, its fun to. Also second. I think a blend of of that particular point of view. Its also about representation. People see us again, not recognize are out here doing things. Absolutely. And vanessa, about for for you. As a u. S. Hiphop culture vascular, i just see all the walls around this that are built to separate us and fences and borders. And when you put colors on him and your stories and and your culture, they bring everybody together. So thats what im was it like collaborating on this film . O for me, it was. So its a challenge to do anything especially when youre doing something on yourself. But there is definitely this greater good or social good. And theres we have these matching values when they were very different. Artist myself. I would say that not in these as but i had feel like i had a duty and the skills Something Like and it was very interesting as far as dirty, do it and as more because they dont really much hundreds of hours. Guys on tape. So yeah, id or them and more than they probably even a creepy kind of i mean, its a job, right . Yeah, but, you know, get their story out is just the beginning because what they do this, you know, its its taking art. Thou like these breaches that everybody lies. That is not just an individual thing with a dew, very powerful. And tell us about the messages that youre really trying to convey through this documentary into your work. Yes, for me is super quick. I mean, the ultimate audience is probably the ones that are really at home comfortable and really at home like, you know, they are doing their thing but dont realize theres people out there fighting for or against interpretation or and ensure that people are still press and people still have these challenges of everyday life and the kind swept under the rug. But what they represent out there. Is stories out there that need to be told and for the get wiped away, theyre fighting to keep it alive. So thats kind my motivation. And vanessa francisco, anything that you would like to convey . Let let the audience know in terms of what the messages with your artwork. I just i see it as a so what . What i do is sort of a celebration of our culture. And just to put it out there with all in living color and so people can will become familiar with it. Then. And maybe inspired by as well. So i think thats the main thing is just, you know, against sort of like a gun to succumb like breaking down borders and being seen being shown. And, you know, again, focusing on the beautiful culture and the routes that we have. And vanessa, for you. Basically. Im just basically, people see your artwork. You know, youre mural. What is that . What . You want them to feel what you want them to take away. So you just you never know how your artwork is going to create ripple effects in the future. And a piece that i painted actually save somebodys life ones. They said that they were in a dark place, the solemn ir and that made them want to live. So you just never know what seed are planting when you paint a wall. And i think about her every time i paint Something Like how is this are going to make somebody feel thinkers, shift the culture or inspire them to create more are so i just like to keep inspiring and mentoring. Just feel very and how can people learn more your artwork for both of you . Is there a way to get in touch or a place where they can see the artwork . Francisco franco, art dot or go francisco frankel. Art, make sure because like you might get you addicted or from spain. Im not that im the i gonna Everybody Knows . We have the ghana. The day uaderscore gonna you can find me everywhere. Dj gonna shopify dot okay. Got to watch online store. So all asians victor. We know that the film has already been accepted to a number of film festivals. And you also have a screening thats coming up in francisco about that. Yeah, its that to theater. The brand new renovated the amazing. Its amazing place over than personal National Park on this friday, august 11, 05 00pm to 08 00pm the showing their work. Institute of the Panel Discussion food and its something to be a welcoming environment and yeah, im excited for you know, the people that can come see the money from that. You know what youre hearing seeing feel from there. Its like different when youre in person and could see the work and talk to them. So its pretty fighting coming up for us. All right. Fantastic. And last question here for you is why is it so important that you met . You have this documentary available for people to watch. Now. Yeah, ive learned more and more especially from theres a couple folks from assistance you coming and uc francisco coming in that. You know, there is this kind of demand or maybe its a quite an end to have this kind of chill out there for younger generations that you need to see have a starting point. Discuss all these topics and its just like an introduction to many talked about site opens up the discussion, having a nice, easy cool. Movie put together pretty well with all these guys really point house showing the vulnerability phone abilities. Theres a curriculum that goes with it, too. So it just kind of doing our part to really share this with this nations about what these guys talk about it because before it gets kind of washed under gentrified, its doing our part to show like this is part of story. Thats really part of globally with the same story that was with Indigenous People sharing with people in different parts of the world that the paint and the struggles are the same, you know, very somewhat suppressing us and everythings going us back. Hes going to show it visually and much more visually. They filter the conduit out to the world that these port on the walls and you have to like, see and feel that thats like it. You can kind feel like sore the frequency of it here with them and see it. So. Yeah, i can go on and on. But its yeah, its. One of cool thing about mural painting in pinellas trees like that its public. Art is for everybody and it actually touches lives like, you know, like says its the same sort like yeah, so that it does. It connects to, you know, the regulars at the community. So as opposed lousiana, more stuffy gallery. Okay. Thanks is why that could is running out of time. Thats want to thank you so much, victor venessa francisco featured in the muralist beautiful pain. Thank you so much for your time. Thank check it out. Stephanie pinon favorite day of the year and a forest. Haha. Go i can say thats my favorite. Take a friday. All okay. Well, there you go. And now some tuesday we might get some scattered bay clouds working in here as well. But the basic theme here is is that today we pop because the heat spike bump what everyone called not maybe recordbreaking, although close to it. A cloud and then we stay cool all week long next weekend we might have a heat pump. Watch wolf. Dont know yet. Okay. Will keep the short sleeves and you have in hand.
