Weve been checking the Half Moon Bay this morning, head in the other direction off the tahoe looks good next week, 60s tuesday and wednesday. As you can see, little warm up there as were going to get on the home front, too. But we do have some weather traffic, though happening. Were starting to get in the fall season. Getting some of this now. Heres the slow that we had over yesterday. We talked about give us little in the way of some rain when it marched on through. Here comes that front and you can see not much of a player coming to us giving us rain. No, not really going to happen. Maybe some scattered clouds. Its the backside. We get the offshore wind. So typically a lot of times when the front goes through, you oftentimes get rain so you can handle the offshore winds. But our problem is often we dont get that rain. We get the offshore winds. Its a problem. Folks. Weather service say we should be okay. Midweek but will be on the lookout for anything. Its popping. It interesting. Another front comes but this time it has a prize. Meanwhile, for santa rosa, 7 day forecast, a warming up and by wednesday, thats the day will be watching for those winds. Interesting numbers will happen in locations of seeing like the coast might warm up artificially because of this. Meanwhile, the lower 90s going on for thursday friday and into saturday and stephanie is a reference there, too, next. The following week might even get some rain to from this. We take a look at the Richmond Center fell bridge. Look at the sunshine, comma in the sunshine. Get pretty good today. We know hoi much the way of fog intrusion going on here. Is a little bit of the coast. Were seeing a couple Little Pockets here like this Half Moon Bay. Some fog clouds, the kind of leftover just that marine layer. No surprise. Theres the marine layer and it kind of gets stuck up there a little bit. But basically were looking at mostly sunny on balance today, headed to tahoe the next few days. Weve got 60s going on tuesday, wednesday and on the home front, were looking a little pop happening by thursday into friday. Now back to the satellite picture. Theres the leftover low. A lot of recall just yesterday was right overhead. Here moved off towards the east. It doesnt have a whole lot of moisture to work with. But what it does, its dropping some rain showers and even snow showers, which we did witness up there again around tahoe. Now thats all said and done. Were going into a couple days of calm. Were going actually warm the next couple of days. Middle of the week. Its interesting, however, as we return to its october, some offshore winds now lower 60s line at the east bay shoreline. For now, freeman, a chilly 56. Weve got 66 for antioch 50s up to the north bay and 60 for San Francisco. The tropics. Theyre also pretty busy in the atlantic. There are 2 systems there. But the good news is moving away up to north, not a threat to any land and not a threat to us either. So back to the west coast, some interesting things happening. First things first, we have a front thats going drop forward, get some scattered clouds fronts tend to bring rain usually are can bring rain this goaround know, and thats very familiar for us. And the problem is we get those offshore winds on the backside and boom that poses a problem, folks. The Weather Service say they think ok and this wont be an issue. But the forecast office out of sacramento does cover our salon like Solano County region. So you may be impacted potentially part of the sacramento package. So see that in the middle the week. Thats whats going on. So offshore winds the middle of the week here. Then we get to the weekend little warm up. As i mentioned in the 90s, looking good. Then into the following week, new front this time bringing its friends, some rain. That will be nice. We can take the offshore winds after that. No problem temperatures for you today. 69 San Francisco take care of the 60s along the coast. Weve got 72 for burning game. 71 for san bruno. 75 foster city. Were still in the process of warming up here. 75 for palo alto in the south bay, mid 70s hanging out. Weve got the lower 70s east bay shoreline, also for tri valley, mid to upper 70s at that conquered at 78 got berkeley at 68 richmond, 70 68 for of allay 76 for fairfield and an app about 73. 76 for santa rosa. 70 forecast we go when middle the week wednesday. This is the offshore day of those winds. Again, i think were okay. Lower 90s as we start to finish off the week. By the way, those offshore winds sometimes deliver some warm temperatures in places that dont see it like along the coast again, from some compression. Ul heating stephanie. All right, dave, thank you. Were hoping for some wonderful weather over next event here. The 31st annual berkeley, Indigenous Peoples day happens a week from now. And joining us live now to share more are juno barcelo and murray hernandez with the event. Thank you so much to the both of you for being here with us today. Thanks for having yeah. And so tell us a bit about what people can expect when they come out to your celebration. Oh, its its wonderful celebration for. As us as a native American Community in represent Indigenous People throughout the americas and its a familyfriendly event where its a sober event. So no alcohol and drugs in. Its great place to participate in our culture and to have a wonderful gathering of generations. Wonderful. Yeah. So. People expect to see a lot of a dancing, a lot of tribal down lot of singing. Theres going to be arts and crafts there. We have made food. So we invite general public just to come out and celebrate with us on that day. So excited. We post them blessed with really good weather. Yes, yes. Which tribes will be represented there . Oh, from all over and fsu all over the americas, some of the doubts are going to have are from Central America. And again, all all the tribes all over United States and, you know, its its also good to acknowledge going to be to and native land and everywhere we walk in the bay area where we stepping on native land. So keeping circle secret and acknowledging struggles that tribes have gone through for the past 500 plus years and that were still here and were still fighting for representation and identity. And this a wonderful, beautiful way to just come together and be in community with one another. How large is the native American Population in the bay area today . Would you say which stripes are most active here . Still cost . You know, if we go back into history, we know that theres been federal relocation program. So people tried traditionally been located in like oklahoma, 5th kind of came out to the bay area to assimilate into into the bay area. So it happened in my case. My mother came out and the 1950s. And yeah, i was born out here and but my tribe is actually located in oklahoma. So out of the tribes here, a lot of different tribes are also. Came here relocations. So, yeah, this you can here in the bay area. For folks, anything youd like to add to oh, yes, yeah, theres again. This is one of the places where during rilke relocation act were times are brought here, too simulate and become part of the urban environment and most native american tribes dont live on reservations are actually here in the urban areas. Thats why its important for us to be recognize and ensure identity here in the urban settings. Because were were were here. Were here in the big cities, you know. And so were still living our lives and able to hang on to our culture and still, you know, celebrate who we are in you know, beautiful city. Absolutely. And to tell us about some of the challenges to that exist the native American Community in the bay area. And how can people help address that . So i think the similar to everybody that lives in the bay area and the housing costs are just so absorbent. So thats something our community is challenged with. Also along with that, were seeing pockets of the bay area. We see substance abuse. Thats also a well have people there at at celebration to kind of really address kind of the resources that exist within our community. So but really our Community Open to the entire public to come and just be part of it. We we like to integrate nonnative folks into it. So its just not an indigenous. Our native event. We want people. We welcome people to come in and dance with us and learn about our drumming at our songs and see our list and try our food. And so its a special day lovely murray. Anything youd like yeah. And and thats why powell is so important to us is because it it does give us to a place where we when were dancing were pain. And as were praying, were were healing as well. And the house is, you know, its almost like a ceremony. So its, you know, having respect, you know, throughout the dot, the arena. Its very important to and again, we wanted to be a safe place for our children to go and be themselves into down son and represent their their own culture by wearing their own delia, singing their songs and again and a wonderful, a wonderful thing to keep keep us connected to our ancestors and our cultural ways. I and going back to the day of the event that so tell us a bit about again when its happening, where its happening, logistics people should be planning in advance for sure. So its going to be happening right in the heart of berkeley at center park, which is just one block west of Downtown Berkeley bart station. So it starts at about 11 00am. Well start with the corps dancing, which which is a particular a dance featuring armed to that arm armed forces, veterans kind of dissipating that special down south. They do and then will kick off with a grand procession of all times, just kind of representing their regalia and their nations that they come from. And that will be just kind of like a grand procession, grand entry. We call and then this contest dancing off throughout the day. So we have different styles of dancing being featured there. And also we have some special dancers from spring said Central America excited to feature them. Wallace day off to so were excited wow them. Sounds like its going to be a very vibrant opportunity for people to get exposed to so many different cultures. Parking anything people should plan and can is there a okay and the local area . So it does cost. Its also a cow gameday. So itll be a but so if people are able to maybe take part and thats in the last throughout year, viewers to kind of come in and participate with us. So. Well be going till 6 oclock that evening to so what kind of wrap things up as the sun starts to set evening. And so where can people get more information . Sure. Our web site is www ipd like Indigenous Peoples day. How p o w w w dot wonderful. Is there a message that you would like people to walk away with when they come to your event . Whats the takeaway . Definitely that were still here that were still here. And we and we still struggle you know, maintaining our culture being able to practice on our land and being representative. Well, as thats present today, not so much as in the past that we know were still here and we were still thriving and we have so many wonderful people in our community that do wonderful things in the bay area. And we want to highlight them and that what we do work for main thing that we do work for us for the next generation and how we want them to continue to to thrive. And deal with the old certain things that it is with being in the urban community and that we can still walk those 2 worlds and and come out resilient at the end. We also wish to kind express thanks to the city of berkeley for being the first to really kind of take this on as a its a holiday that they sponsor celebrated with us for the last 31 years. All right. Wonderful. Thats juno barcelo and murray hernandez with the 31st annual berkeley, Indigenous Peoples day. Thank you so much to the both of you for being here with all right. Well be right with all right. Well be right back. Kayaking is my thing. Running is awesome. But her moderate to severe eczema would make her skin so uncomfortable.
