Free month is facing intense opposition to a proposed Navigation Center to serve the homeless. There are two sites under consideration but neighbors are expressing concerns about both. Residents are not happy and they are letting city leaders know about it. Hundreds of people packed the City Council Meeting in free month, it overflowed in to the courtyard, a discussion wasnt on the agenda but it did not stop the protesters. They are opposed to two sites for a new shelter, one is in the dakota neighborhood , the other is here behind city hall, both locations are city owned land. City hall is the only site where residents are walking, not driving. My personal experience, my wife walks in the morning, she got heckled not once or twice but three times right outside of city hall. Reporter city leaders say they narrowed down the city hall site and dakota because they are near services. The city wants to open the center by next year saying the Homeless Population has jumped 27 since last year. We understand there will be two meetings next month for people to come and voice more of their concerns or maybe suggestions as to where the center should go and the goal is to have everything picked and in place by september to open next year. Barkley council phased out the use of natural gas in new buildings. The entire Council Voted that Natural Gas Pipelines wont be allowed in many new building projects beginning january 1st. The new law would apply to buildings that have been reviewed by the state energy commission. The oak land Council Unanimously voted to ban agencies from using facial recognition technology. The manager of a storage business will start notifying storage unit renters that a grass fire destroyed their belongings. The fire started yesterday afternoon on the shoulder of highway 4, the winds blew the flames onto the pa chairco montecito storage, destroying 49 units. Others suffered smoke and water damage. Items stored in the units included classic cars, work tools and important documents. The fire burned most of the belongings of a homeless man that lives in a grassy area near that storage unit. The fire is under investigation but an official with contra costa Fire Protection says most of the fires are started by human activity, particularly along a highway where a cigarette thats thrown out can start a fire or a vehicle malfunction can start a grass fire. A study blames Climate Change for the big wild fires in california. Time is 6 36, deputies found two people with 100,000 worth of drugs. Deputies arrested 29 year old paul garcia and 22 year old allison nolt at a hotel not far from highway 1. Deputies say they found cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, magic mushrooms and prescription pills in their room. Authorities also say they found scales, packing materials and a loaded gun. A couple believe it is two man who robbed them at gun point are the same ones terrorizing their neighborhood. They were robbed outside in the college park section of hayward last saturday. Surveillance cameras show the robbers one of them carrying a gun, approaching the couple. The victims believe the robbers followed them after they left a restaurant. They followed me. I have a gun here, it looked like a semi automatic gun, black color, and demanded my watch, my wallet and then he got in my side pocket and got my cell phone. The robbers stole five credit cards, the victims think the robbers are the same people who committed other crimes in the area. The protesters packed the Council Chambers and flooded the city hall courtyard during the meeting, they are against free months plans to put the homeless Navigation Center in the city by next year. Leaders have narrowed down their options for a new shelter at two possible city owned locations. One is this the da coto neighborhood, the other behind the city hall. The vice mayor says the residents concerns are driven by fear. Both groups are unhappy. Originally it was the dakota neighbors now im getting petitions from city hall neighbors. Ultimately we are going to have to make a decision that somebody will be unhappy about. There will be twoout reach meetings next month about the Navigation Centers. Leaders hope to select a location in september and get the money thats needed by january. San francisco leaders are looking at a parking lot as a first step in getting more secure housing for People Living in vehicles. Supervisors want the set up a temporary Triage Center at a parking lot near the balboa bart station. The proposal would allow 30 cars and rvs to park and stay at the lot for 90 days. The lot will be turned in to 138 units of affordable housing. We have seen a dramatic increase of homeless living on the streets. This is way to show compassion and take a positive step in the right direction this dealing with homeless crisis in San Francisco. It will have 24 hour security and services to help anyone with questions. Supervisors will be holding a meeting saturday at Balboa High School for anyone with questions or concerns about that parking lot.
