Governor gavin newsom has ordered all california counties to rollback their opening because of the spike of coronavirus cases in the state. Here to tell us about the businesses that are forced to to shut down. This is tough news. Reporter it definitely is, claudine. There has been back and forth with the openings, but the governor says it is expected with how unexpected the rise is. Governor newsom is making a major move to slow the spread. As of monday, every county in the state has to shut down indoor operations of restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms. Movie theaters, Family Entertainment centers, zoos, museums and all bars. There are 31 counties in the states with stricter restrictions and they are on the California Watch list here they make up 80 of the states populations. The counties in those parts of the state have to close fitness facilities, hair salons, barbershops, worship services, shopping malls and non essential offices. The 31 counties include every bay area county except san mateo and San Francisco. Governor newsom made the news after they trended above 7 with limited icu bed availability. He says coronavirus will be a major issue until there is a vaccine or effective therapy but recognizes how out of reach an immediate vaccine may be right now. That is why Governor Newsom says he is focusing on therapeutics where people can look for positive news. There are some interesting opportunities to advance therapeutics that can mitigate the morbidity and not just a mortality of this disease. There is no timeline on how long the new restrictions will last, but Governor Newsom says he is confident californias ability to help slow the spread. Ktvu fox 2 news. Several counties like dublin and pleasanton are not waiting for permission and they are opening Outdoor Dining right now. Officials want the cities to follow state guidelines because coronavirus funding in the future will be tied to complying with the governors orders. The two Biggest School districts in california will begin construction this fall with online classes only. The los angeles and san diego School Districts say that students will learn from home when the school year begins. Administrators say it could change later if the covid19 infection rates go down in those areas. Students at the Berkeley Unified School district will probably start the fall semester with Distance Learning only. Last night the superintendent released a statement saying that plans for a mixture of online and in person person classes are expected to change because of the recent increase in covid19 cases. The school board is expected to debate plans for the fall when they meet tomorrow and then take a vote on august 29. Instruction begins at berkeley on august 17. The Orange County board of education voted to allow students to return to the classroom for in Person Instruction next month. There are not going to be in a mask requirements or social distancing rules. The board has allowed the School District to follow the guidelines. Orange county has reported more than 24,000 cases of coronavirus. Both the oakland and fremont Unified School District have decided their schools will only have Distance Learning when the fall semester begins. The governor says a surge in the coronavirus cases have forced renewed restrictions. Restrictions on establishments that have to close down around the state. No indoor dining, bars, wineries and tasting rooms, movie theatres, zoos, museums and card rooms. They have to shut down. 32 counties are on the States Coronavirus watch list including seven bay area counties including alameda, contra costa, marin, santa clara, sonoma. Santa clara county was added because the three day average of virus patients rose 10 . The governor told us why the reopening process is rolling back. We are moving back to the modification mode of our original Stay Home Order. Utilizing what is commonly referred to as a dimmer switch and it is not an on and off switch. The Stay Home Order was always designed to be modified based on data and trendlines. Later this morning. The alameda board of supervisors will decide on the process. The state was pausing the permission for reopening in some areas across the state. As of now, Alameda County does not have the variance but now has the opportunity to apply. The county wants cities to follow the guidelines for future funding for covid is tied to compliance orders. For now, the reopenings are on pause. If we get the variance, then we will be able no cities will be able to continue their Outdoor Dining. Ktvu fox 2 news. In an Alameda County sheriffs deputy is in the icu battling coronavirus. His wife says watching him decline so quickly is heartbreaking. Without a doubt, he is fighting for his life. Reporter the Sherrifs Deputy has been on a ventilator for the last two weeks. He is one of two deputies in the icu with covid19 right now. The 56yearold has been a deputy for the past 25 years. He was recently taking shifts at the jail where four dozen inmates have tested positive. He was diligent at following guidelines, but working in our job, sometimes we are at risk. He cannot continue to stay on the vent at such a high setting. Its going to do damage to his lungs and hes not getting the air that he needs. Reporter his wife is trying to stay positive and urges anyone who is coughing or tests positive for covid19 to get their lungs checked. And dr. Anthony fauci, the nations top expert on Infectious Diseases, says the progress is being made on developing a vaccine for coronavirus. The San Francisco zoo opened its doors for the first time in four months and it looks like it will be able to stay open. That is despite the rollback on reopenings. Despite this, attendance is now at 50 . That is capped. Visitors have to reserve spots online ahead of time. Guests have to wear masks or face coverings and there are Hand Sanitizer stations throughout the park. The zoo is 100 acres and almost entirely outdoors. I think they are doing a great job so far. It burned about 8 1 2 square miles and destroyed one building. The cause of the fire is under investigation. And firefighters battled a small vegetation fire near old bayshore and 13th street. In santa rosa, firefighters contain a grass fire the came close to home yesterday afternoon along stony point road near mule deer lane. The flames burned up to backyard fences, but no homes were damaged. There is no word on how the fire started and no injuries were reported. A new study showing that last years ridgecrest earthquakes increase the likelihood of a big quake along the san andreas fault. The city says in the next 12 months that there is a 2. 3 of a magnitude 7. 5 or greater quake on the fault. It runs along the north edge of the mojave desert. Researchers say it could trigger a big quake on the san andreas fault. A major quake on that part of the fault line would impact los angeles and the surrounding area.
