There will be tomorrow, but theres not. Theres a teeny bit down towards monterey bay. Maybe santa cruz south. But does not look like theres very much here 60s on the temps low to mid 60 to 65 system will come in tomorrow for a significant cooldown but today and maybe a couple of degrees cooler i think we topped it out on sunday but still warm to hot for many if youre away from the coast. All right, over to sal now and anything new . Nothing new. Weve seen things get a little bit more crowded, but not that bad. Right now its only 530. So you still have a window of opportunity to jump ahead, although in the next half hour, were expecting just a little bit more slow traffic to build on these commutes. It looks like my highway 24 camera may be down this is a look at northbound 101 and two, 1885. In san jose, that looks pretty good. 531 lets go back to the desk. All right, sal, thank you. Well, summer is officially over for many families in oakland. Today is the first day of school for more than 34,000 kids in the oakland unified School District. Ali rasmus here now to explain what school and city leaders planning today to kick off the new school year. Good morning, ali. Good morning, dave. Usds superintendent and some oakland City Council Members plan to greet parents and students outside some of the districts schools this morning for the first day of the new school year. About 34,000 Oakland School kids will return to class at the districts 77 different schools. Parents, students and teachers are hoping for a smooth start to this school year. Youll recall the school year last year ended after a ten day long teachers strike that strike was resolved in time for the final week of class back in may. Osd teachers now have a new contract and there are some other important roles, though, that the city and the district are still trying to fill as the School Year Kicks off. O usd has a shortage of crossing guards. The city of oakland pays for those crossing guard jobs, jobs and there are about a dozen schools that still dont have enough. The School District spokesperson made a pitch for people to help out and apply. Anybody can come and do this work. Its a Pretty Simple job. That is, you do a couple hours in the morning, a couple hours in the afternoon. Hey, as far as i know from the city of oakland is pretty good. And so a lot of retired folks do this. Other folks who are just looking for some extra money. I think that you can make some pretty good money doing it. So we just want to get the word out, make sure people know that these opportunities are there. And we do need the help. Now, there are other challenges ahead for o. Usd. Like most public School Districts, especially here in the bay area, enrollment is declining. We dont have final numbers for usd this year just yet, but in a budget document from the districts chief Business Officer earlier this year, they estimated that there was going to be a nearly 11 drop in Elementary School enrollment across a o usd this year, compared to the 2018 2019 school year. So well learn more about the future of o usd, its students, its budget later this morning. Thats when the district superintendent and some city leaders plan to be outside some of these schools for the first day of class. This morning. Live in oakland, allie rasmus, ktvu fox two news. Well, Health Officials in Contra Costa County still out there looking for any more possible patients whove contracted legionnaires disease after two people died recently from that infection. Both had visited a day spa in richmond. James torres is at the county Health Department right now to tell us why that business could be facing more trouble. Good morning, james. Dave, good morning to you. Were talking about the zen spa in richmond. Its been closed since the weekend and its still that way today. We heard from some county supervisors as well as Health Officials from over the week and they announced the day spa did not have the proper permit since that is an Environmental Health permit, nor a business permit, which they say to operate without is illegal. They are also asking anyone who has visited the spa in the last two weeks to get checked out by a doctor. According to the experts , the bacteria can be found in standing or pools of water, and once its aerosolized, people can inhale the bacteria in their lungs and become infected. Those involved in the investigation are sorting through credit card receipts. Theyre looking through appointment books, all of that in hopes to track down anyone who they say might be at risk. Key point now is first trying to locate right individuals who use this business over the past couple of weeks to ensure that theyre healthy. I think thats really the Public Health goal right now. The centers for Disease Control and prevention says symptoms for legionnaires can include a constant cough. Some muscle aches, fever, shortness of breath and headaches. We spoke to one woman who says her partner is one of those who passed from his infection. She says its a miracle she wasnt infected since they both visited the day spa together. I just wanted nobody else to have to go through some of this. What i just dealt with is not anyone. Something anyone should go through. And the health Department Says they have taken samples of water from the day spa. They are testing those samples and they expect to have preliminary results early this week. Well let you know when that happens. For now, were live this morning from Contra Costa County. Im james torres, ktvu fox two news. Thank you, james.
