Upset over name change   
As a citizen of this county, sadness was my first reaction to the name change at Haile Plantation Golf & Country Club. Then came the anger at the alluded to, but no doubt real reason for the change.     
It is a shame that, over the past several years, pseudo-intellectuals have been quite successful in guilting many present-day Americans over our nation’s past mistakes — slavery being the most obvious and disgusting. This has resulted in historical monuments being moved or destroyed as well as name changing. Sadly, it would seem that the powers-that-be at Haile are among the gullible and guilt-ridden in our area.
