Longtime nursing executive vice dean and professor is internationally recognized for her work in palliative care

Marie T. Nolan, professor and executive vice dean of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, has been appointed interim dean of the school. She succeeds Patricia Davidson, who was named the vice-chancellor of the University of Wollongong in Australia, where she starts in May.

Nolan previously served as associate dean for academic affairs, chair of the Department of Acute and Chronic Care, and director of the Nursing PhD program. Nolan was the Johns Hopkins director of the China PhD Program Collaboration between Peking Union Medical College and the School of Nursing funded by the China Medical Board. She is the former president of the International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing.
