the new stuffed quesadillas. Only at El Pollo Loco israel has given civilians in the new summer family meal. Starting at 24. Only at El Pollo Loco. Northern gaza a deadline to evacuate 1. 1 Million People from that densely populated region and head south. That deadline expired four hours ago. As part of that notice, Israeli Defense forces dropped leaflets across Northern Gaza, morning civilians to evacuate immediately. However, all Border Crossings are presently closed, and the people of gaza cannot to leave the gaza strip. In response to israels order, the u. N. Secretary Generals Office released a statement saying the United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences. Israel has rejected the u. N. s plea, and is continuing with its mission. Tonight, Israeli Defense forces announced that they have made raids into gaza territory to eliminate the threat of terrorist cellos, and to collect evidence that will aid in locatings hostages. Hamas, meanwhile, has told gaza residents to remain in place and called israels evacuation orders psychological warfare. To give you some perspective here, the gaza strip is 25 miles long. About the length of marathon. , residents of Northern Gaza have been told to flee to the south of woody gaza, which is about halfway down the territory. Now gaza residents who do choose to make the Journey South will have to do so after surviving a fourday blockade by israel, which has cut off access to food and fuel, and water, and electricity. While Israeli Defense forces dropped more than 6000 bombs on gaza in the last eight days. Right now, the death toll in this conflict has reached more than 3200. Israel reports that the number of israelis who have lost their lives remained at 1300, with another 3300 wounded. Tonight, nbc news has obtained a top secret documents showing that hamas intended to target israeli elementary schools, and a youth center, as part of its brutal terror attack. The documents include detailed maps, and show that hamas intended to kill or take hostage civilians, and school children. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry Reports that the number of palestinians who have lost their lives is 1900, with nearly 8000 wounded. Today, israeli Prime Minister, netanyahu, give a surprise address telling the israeli public that, quote, our enemies have only started paying the price. Those comments come as u. S. Secretary of state, Anthony Blinken, is traveling across the region to engage with arab leaders. Right, now 500 to 600 American Citizens are currently inside of gaza. Today, Secretary Blinken met with mahmoud abbas, the president of the palestinian authority, which governs palestinians in the west bank. Blinken also met with leaders in qatar where he stressed the need to protect civilian life. As of right now, hamas now claims that 13 of the israeli hostages being held in gaza have been killed by israeli bombings. We continue to discuss with israel the importance of taking every possible precaution to avoid harming civilians. We recognize that many palestinian families in gaza are suffering, due to no fault of their own. The Palestinian Civilians have lost their lives. We mourn the loss of every innocent life. Israeli, palestinian, do you, christian, muslim, as well as civilians of every faith and every nationality who have been killed. In contrast, to those, appeals Israeli President , isaac herzog, told reporters yesterday he believes civilians in gaza bear responsibility for hamass attack on israel. Its an entire nation of there that is responsible. Its not true, this rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved. Its absolutely not true. They could have risen up, they could have fought against that evil regime which took over gaza in a coup detat. Half of the civilians living in gaza are children. Many injured children have already been taken to gazas largest hospital, l she fought. But like most of the hospitals in gaza, it is inside the zone that israel has ordered evacuated. That hospital is just two days away from running out of fuel. Sky news is diana magnay filed this report from aushi for today. I want to warn you, as we have in the past, this footage is disturbing, and it involves children. A boy in gazas eye Al Shifa Hospital shaking like a tiny sparrow. No child should have to be broken like this to suffer on both sides from a conflict they have no part in creating. But because the bombs keep falling, the patients keep flooding in. This is chaos. Our confusion of stretchers, of injured everywhere they can go. Remember, when the generator stopped, and israels total blockade of electricity, a fuel, of water, this will get even worse. Hospitals in gaza have already reached their breaking point. A spokesperson for the World Health Organization told reuters, there are severely ill people whose injuries mean their only chance of survival is being on life support. Moving those people is a death sentence. Asking Health Workers to do so is beyond cruel. Joining me now is nbc news Foreign Correspondent, josh lederman, live from nausea. Which is in israel, near the border with lebanon. Josh, i wonder what you can tell me. I know you are moving around the country. But what you can tell me about in turn the moving of folks inside gaza, and the mood along the border towns. This is a country, right now, alex, that is holding its breath. Everyone seems to know what is about to come. And the only question is when will this massive Ground Incursion begin . Frankly, how many people will lose their lives. There is not really any question about what the scale is going to look like, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is saying the goal is to wipe hamas off the face of the earth. And in a rare friday evening sabbath address to the nation, he really seem to be trying to prepare the israeli people for a fight that is not going to be a short lived, pinprick operation. But something that is going to go on for quite some time. There is not any doubt that hamas will retaliate for an Israeli Ground incursion. They have already been sending rockets over the border into israel every single day. The concern, of course, about this spiraling to other fronts up in the area where i am at, near the border with lebanon, we heard in lebanon today, from the leadership of hezbollah, that other militant group, saying they are not going to sit this out either. The has bella Group Leadership saying that they are contributing to this palestinian cause. And when the time is right, they will act. Towns up in this part of the country are very much on edge. In fact, there was one town that was put into a closed Military Zoned. A town called matilda, not terribly far from where i am right now because of the threat there. In the west bank, theyre concerned about escalating violence. Of course, in the gaza strip, they know that what is coming could lead to really mass disaster, for a lot of palestinians. This evacuation over the last 24 hours has really brought back some harrowing memories from 1948, from when so many palestinians during the war that led to israels creation had to flee their homes. You have palestinians who are reflecting on, once again, having to leave their homes in a hurry. But also with very little place to go. Wondering what the bloodshed is going to look like, even as foreign countries, at this point, are urging israel to reconsider this evacuation. Weve heard that from the u. N. , weve heard that from aid organizations. And major questions about what will be within israels capacity to do, to minimize civilian casualties while carrying out the very ambitious goal that they have set for themselves in a Ground Incursion into the ground district. Josh lederman, thank you josh, for that report. Stay safe out there. I know were going to be coming back too soon. Appreciate the time. The pain and devastation of this conflict is being felt acutely across the region. This was a message we received today from a fati of osha the Executive Director of a gazan volunteer organization. Hes currently inse za. Thousands of palestinians from gaza city and north of Gaza Citarevacuating their homes. Its horrible. Theres no taxes for these large numbers. I spent the morning and the evening and the afternoon helping lots of friends for securing homes and theres not enough homes here in the south of gaza strip. We are talking aut. 1 millions of dilaced people. This is the expected number. Not the majority of the people of the north and gazcity are not evacuatinget. There is no fuel, im running actually, im running out of my car fuel. Its horrible. People, theres no much enough food, theres no much enough bread. Its horrible. Gaza will never die. We will keep alive. Thank you so much. Joining me now is ayman mohyeldin, host of course of Ayman On Msnbc. A person who has covered the region extensively. Amen, its really hard. Its hard for us to hear those messages. Its unfathomable to imagine what the folks who are being asked to leave their homes in gaza are going through. Hamas has been very clear, do not leave. This is psychological warfare on the part of israel, as telling you to leave. How meaningful is that message from hamas to the people of gaza . I think its very meaningful, for two reasons, what josh was saying, i think theres a tactical aspect to it. And i think theres a principled aspect to it. I would be very susceptible very suspicious, if you will, of just simply saying hamas doesnt want them to leave without trying to understand a deeper psychology of palestinian trauma. As josh was saying, how palestinians have fled their homes, as a result of war in 1948, in 1967. 60 to 70 of the People Living in gaza are refugees, or descendants of refugees. So the idea of leaving your home is deeply embedded in palestinian trauma. The idea of leaving gaza and resettling in egypt, or some suggested, going to jordan, or going to somewhere else. Or going south, or to the desert, or why dont they just go to saudi arabia . Why doesnt saudi arabia take them in . Theres two reasons for that. One, because the trauma of not being able to return to their homes in the first place is so deeply ingrained in them, the idea of leaving again as a result of war seems very unlikely. But two, the way the International Community has dealt with the Palestinian Refugee issue in lebanon, in jordan, in elsewhere, has also been proof for the governments in the region that if you take in Palestinian Refugees, you are on your own. Thats not to say that the governments have not done well in treating them. They havent. They failed them. They havent given them citizenship, they havent recognized them. Theyve always been treated as second class citizens in these countries. The truth is these governments know that if they taken Palestinian Refugees, they will always be on their own. They will not get the money they need. They will not be allowed to be treated the way that they should be. They see what happened with Syrian Refugees in the war there, the civil war, theyre in places like turkey and lebanon. Its part of the reason why a government like egypt is so reluctant to suddenly open the border and have Hundreds Of Thousands of palestinians coming across. ,. I understand the context here, and the psychological warfare part of this. The generations of trauma relating to displacement. There is also the tactical consideration, right, the strategic consideration of how am i going to survive till monday. The Bombing Campaign has been relentless. The Ground Invasion is imminent. There are people who are, despite hamas is a directive, choosing to move. Absolutely. Youve lived in gaza, you understand how densely populated it is. We tried to give people a sense of how small the strip of land is. Its the length of a marathon. You are asking 1. 1 Million People to move from one part of the first half of the marathon, if you will, to the second half of the marathon. Theres not a lot of room. Theres no place to really go, is there . No place to go. Also, look, im not a military expert. But if hamas tactic in the Israeli Militarys top ticket is to clear out these areas in order to come into confrontation, to destroy hamas as their stated Military Objective is here, i suspect hamas is not just going to stay in the northern part of the gaza strip all the civilians move north. I think, given their history, they will move with the population to the south, vacate these areas so the Israeli Military comes in and turn around and move back up north. If the Israeli Military shifts its attention to the southern part of the gaza strip. Because the tactic of hamas, which is what i was alluding to in the first part of my question, which is they want to be embedded in the middle of the urban centers. Because thats where the fighting takes place, thats where it worked to their advantage. Where the tunnels are, where they can be in buildings, where they can move quickly in between alleyways and streets. The idea that somehow they would just stay in the city, . While the civilians flee, then not to return, or just stay there, it seems tactically not like the way hamas operates. Im not sure, at this stage, and im saying full disclosure, im not sure what the clear Military Objective is right now from the military, the Israeli Military. Like i said, if they go into these urban centers and want to destroy the buildings and destroy the tunnels, theyve done that. But they havent necessarily destroyed the organization of hamas. Theyve destroyed their capabilities, perhaps, and warehouses, munitions george. The leadership will still be there. The organization will still be there. If they ultimately leave gaza in a couple months from now, then hamas will return and rebuilt, as weve seen them do, time and time again. I think one of the more enlightening conversations i had this week with you was talking about the way in which hamass and ideology that lives on independent of the actual formal organization. When you talk about routing out hamas, theres a question of whether there can be munitions that bomb the tunnels. That can be guided to minimize civilian deaths. The ways in which you can decapitate hamas by getting rid of its leadership. But it seems like, and you know this better than i do, that hamas is cellular. It works in smaller units. It sounds like this attack may have been planned on a multifaceted front. Its not as easy as just going down the Command Structure and picking people off one by one. Youre absolutely right, perhaps some of the best evidence to support that was when hamas held the law chilly d, the israeli soldier that was held captive for five years. Ultimately released in a prisoner exchange. Very, very, very few hamas people or operatives or commanders knew where he was at any given moment. Thats how they were able to keep him out of his really rich, and Israeli Intelligence for several years. Look, i think most western intelligence agencies will admit that hamas, israel has some of, if not the best intelligence capabilities. Putting aside what happened in this attack. But they have deeply infiltrated many of these organizations. As ive said before, theyve been very successful in going after some of their most senior figures and commanders. But the ability of hamas to operate on a small unit to level is what has made them also very resilient. Sometimes they dont even know within the organization how and who is in charge of which unit, and which responsibility. So the tactics remain very decentralized, even though there is a committee control structure. It makes a very difficult. We saw that in a phase when hamas was growing its rocket capabilities, when i was in gaza, in around 2008 to 2010. They were able, at the time, to really have the rocket battalions, or the rocket groups, the militants that were firing these rockets very decentralized, sometimes in the back of pickup trucks. You wouldnt know who was responsible for which capability at any given moment. That seems to be sort of the secret, as part of this attack. To do it in plain sight. The tools that are readily available, guerrilla warfare, as many Military Experts on this of described. Guerrilla warfare in a very densely urban area favors, as we learn from our own Military Experiences in cities like palooza, iraq, four it favors the militants and the insurgence, and whatever field you are in. Ayman, you are a valuable resource in all of this. Come back and join me in the next hour, if you are. Ayman mohyeldin, thank you my friend. We have lots more to get to tonight, including concerns that the escalating bloodshed in gaza could spread beyond israels border. Were going to have a report from the border with lebanon later this hour. But first, new reporting that cia reports, warned of potential violence by hamas just days before their attack on israel. Nearly a week after hamass attack on israel, there are many questions about how and why israel did not see such a large scale attack on the horizon. Israel, after all, has a reputation for its ability to gather intelligence on possible threats. Not only within its country, but also outside of it. Yet, somehow, its Security Apparatus was unable to detect and attack that hamas claims 3000 of its fighters were involved with. Including another 1500 serving as backups. That is nearly 4500 fighters, according to hamas. We are also learning that the u. S. May have had some indication of possible violence. The New York Times reports that two intelligence reports issued days before hamass attack warned about a potential escalation in violence from the group. The intel reports did not predict the specific and complex details of the brazen land, air, and sea assault. Joining me now is john brunner, former cia director, and Nbc National Security and intelligence analyst. Dr. Brennan, im thank you for being here. Im eager to hear your thoughts on this New York Times reporting that the cia issued at least two reports warning of the potential for violence. What do you make of that . Well, alex, obviously, i dont know anything about this cia report. But the u. S. Intelligence will pick up indicators that something may be brewing. That might have been the case here, that there were some indications that hamas was planning to carry out some type of operation. As you pointed out, frequently, these type of general warnings or sense do not have the specific details of the Tactical Operations that are being planned. It was very similar to before 9 11, the u. S. Intelligence community, and cia Head Indications that alqaeda was planning something big. But we didnt know what, where, or when it would happen. So therefore, i think the israelis missed some of these things. But also, didnt take the prudent steps necessary in order to protect against something that might have happened, or was going to happen. Can i ask what deliberations go into escalating a report like this . Given the fact that it may have contained details, it sounded familiar, given the ongoing skirmishes between hamas and the idf. What are the flags for making this, effectively bringing this up the chain of command to say we have an urgent report that you need to Pay Attention to . Well, it depends on the reliability, and the access of the sources. What the u. S. And Israeli Intelligence services have probably one of the closest relationships that exists worldwide. Anytime that we, and the Intelligence Community at cia have indications that Israeli Citizens or interests were going to come under attack, we would do our very best to immediately share the information with our israeli counterparts. So weather was coming from a u. S. Source, weather was coming from some type of technical collection system, there really were no obstacles with our being able to share with the israelis in order to give them a heads up so they could take prudent measures to try to protect themselves. When i look at the Music Festival that was taking place near gaza, that was very surprised that it wasnt augmented with very Strong Military forces. Given that it was so close to gaza. If there were indications that hamas was planning something, that wouldve been the type of measure to take, even if you dont know the different specific types of attack. But you want to do Everything Possible to protect those that might in fact be most vulnerable to some type of terrorist operation. I want to ask your thoughts on something thats provoked a lot of discussion. Theres a lot of different reporting on it. But the washington post, the wall street journal, and the New York Times also just that iran knew about this attack, but did not have the specifics. Ill read a quote from the New York Times. Some people familiar with the operation said that a tight circle of leaders from iran, hezbollah, and hamas, helped plan the attack starting over a year ago, trained militants, and had advanced knowledge of it. 4500 fighters involved in this, we saw the breadth of the attack, the scale of it, the fact that it used land, sea, and air. Do you does it make sense to you that iran may have been involved in this on a training level, at the very least . Certainly iran provided hamas with the necessary Training Materials supports, munitions, that enabled it to carry out this operation. Iranians have been integrated with hamas forces for a number of years, in terms of, again, conducting this training. The question is whether or not iran, the iranian government was aware of this. And was participant in any way of this decisionmaking process. At least according to the intelligence that is coming out, it doesnt appear that they found this type of intelligence that indicates the iranian government itself. But there could be members of the force in iran, the Iranian Revolutionary forces that may have been inside of gaza, participating in this. Iran, just like hamas, they are not monoliths, they are very large complex organizations. I wouldnt doubt for a moment that some iranians were involved in the planning of this operation. And may have been very much aware of this operation before it took place. One more question for you about the hostages. Nbc news is reporting that before israel launches its Ground Invasion, there may be some Back Channel Negotiations happening brokered by qatar or another arab state to release some of these hostages prior to troops coming in. Your thoughts on the likelihood of that, and the likelihood of success . Qatar or egypt would probably be the most likely arab states involved in any type of negotiations with hamas. Im sure the israelis are going to pursue any avenue that might lead to the release of these hostages safely and securely. But i think at this point, is really not in the mood to turn over any hamas prisoners that it has, but i do think its important to try to establish some type of communication with hamas. Those who are holding me hostage is to see whether or not theres any chance whatsoever of getting them out, in qatar and egypt, are the ones that probably have the best contacts with hamas the organization. Former cia director, john brennan, so helpful hearing your thoughts about all of this, this ongoing situation. Really appreciate your time tonight, sir. Thank you. Thanks, alex. Coming up, were going to have a report from israels northern border with lebanon where concerns are growing about a second front in the ongoing war. Thats next. Worsening humanitarian crisis in gaza, there are new concerns that the conflict could extend beyond israels border, including its northern border with lebanon. And those concerns are growing by the minute. Today, the idf said it fired at Terrorist Targets blocking too hezbollah, following a series of skirmishes between that group and the Israeli Defense forces. Hezbollah said is, quote, prepared and ready to join its ally hamas and they were against zero when the time is right. The lebanon capital, beirut, irans Foreign Minister has met to discuss that about israel. For more on that, we have msnbc correspondent matt bradley, who filed this report earlier on the ground in southern lebanon. My team and i spent several hours along the border between lebanon and israel today. We were in the same place where the rioters chernow stat was killed, we did see quite a lot of action. We saw like its being fired from lebanon into israel and in one case, We Saw Anti Air Technology By The Israelis Shooting down at least one of those rockets that caused an hours long force fire. This was a horrific situation for journalists, two of his colleagues were injured as well, and its deeply saddening for all of us here in the journalistic community. The fact is, we dont know exactly what happened yet. Reuters said that they would be launching an investigation. Hezbollah issued a statement that youre putting his death to israeli missiles. Still, we dont know exactly what caused this. There is a fog of war around all this. It goes to show that journalists in the region are in great danger, as this border right behind me becomes hotter and hotter by the day. It raises the threat that hezbollah, the dominant paramilitary power in this region could in the next couple of days, weeks, enter into the war alongside hamas. Like hamas, it is a militant group backed by iran, and it seems as though they are waiting for some sort of signal, either from iran or their own leadership on whether or not to finally enter the war. A lot of this could be up to the israelis. The people that we have been speaking to, they seem to think that hezbollah might be holding back as a kind of a deterrent to kind of prevent the israelis from going in and completely ripping hamas apart in the gaza strip. Its unclear exactly what is figuring into hezbollahs decisionmaking process, but regardless, if they decide to enter into the war, that would be devastating, both for the israelis, who their military split, and for the people of lebanon, who arent definitely so weary of war and economic ruin. Msnbc Foreign Correspondent matt bradley with that report from israel, on the southern border with other non. Ask your doctor about 1 prescribed, oncedaily ingrezza. Ingrezza on saturday, when Hamas Terrorists launched an Armed Incursion into israeli territory, they had for the kibbutz. These are small communities, often agricultural one spread throughout israel. One target was a kibbutz near the gaza border. According to witnesses, hamas terrorist burned homes, shot indiscriminately and abducted whoever they could. Before the attack, the community had 400 residents. At the end of it, there were only 160 people left. Many of those who survived owe their lives to the men who fought the terrace. One of them is soggy, an American Citizen who lived in the kibbutz with his pregnant wife and two small daughters. Sagi set his father at a lot of pet projects, one was going to the metal shop early on saturday in the morning. The last time he was there, sagi spotted hamas militants, heavily armed, heading towards his community. The turnaround and alerted others. Well followed as more than two hours of heavy fighting. Sagi and the other man tried to distract the terrace with whatever they had. Their hope was ticking time for the women and children to hide and for the israeli army to arrive, but that did not happen until late afternoon. And when they finally arrived, sagi and many others, including children, were gone. Joining me now is sagi father, professor professor, thank you for being here tonight, we appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I know this is a difficult time for you, and our thoughts are with you. Can i first ask, what sort of correspondence youve had with either the israeli or American Government about her son . Thank you for having me. Bringing attention to the hostages, my son and at least 120 or 30 more israelis. Well start with the bad news, and i have had minimal contact from any official at the Israeli Government. I couldnt make that broad statement for all of the missing people that we have here. Dozens of families of missing people and i have heard almost nothing for the Israeli Government. I am an American Citizen as was sagi. As of tuesday afternoon, or evening perhaps, i was contacted, and i believe the others were as well. The American Embassy in tel aviv shortly after, the State Department, Secretary Of State blinken, i believe, on thursday had news of a stopover in tel aviv. He invited all families for a meeting. I could not make it because that the conditions that we currently are in, so i was in my kibbutz. Yesterday, and in the Morning Hours at u. S. Time, they had a video conference. President biden joined in from i would guess 45 minutes. Contact was substantial with the u. S. Government, but information is unfortunately lacking. The u. S. Government says it was working very hard to get these hostages out, and yet we also know that and Israeli Ground invasion of gazas emit. I believe you have risen to believe that your son is in gaza. How are you reconciling with the stated desire to get the hostages out and the acceptance of the part of the u. S. And others of an Israeli Ground invasion is forthcoming and could greatly complicate the picture relating to extraction . Yeah, well, it compounds the dilemma for all families who have missing loved ones in gaza. I am absolutely sure because at the circumstances, which we can get to later on, that of the people are in gaza along with many hundreds of captives that were confirmed to be there. We saw a piece of it beforehand of and abduction in my kibbutz, i believe, if i am not mistaken. A young boy who i know very well, and his family very well. We know that they are there. He has not even gotten confirmation from hamas. Your question about not just the Ground Invasion, we all see the israeli army, both the artillery and aerial assault and the enormous damage in gaza. Of course, with all the civilian casualties, as well. Two things can be true at once. I can only speak for myself. I desperately want my little boy, there are five a little boy, father of two beautiful granddaughters and as been of a wonderful wife who is expecting in another couple of months. I really want to be united, fulfillings dreams, at the same time, the events of saturday morning has shown absolute for anyone who had any doubt that israel or abroad that hamas is a terror organization. The few hundred or so terrace who rampage the my kibbutz, my home in the gaza strip, killed dozens and took captive dozens more and then destroyed my home and the homes of everybody on the kibbutz. They said their regime that simply cannot be negotiated with and constitutes a Clear And Present Danger and existential danger to all israelis. The perfect middle, of course, would be hamas to at least recognize that they or amid that they have these kept is and what their physical conditions would be. Even better would be there are these of these hostages and still missing people. But both of these things are true. We are waiting for our sons, daughters, grandparents to come home. But at least for me, also being a resident of that area, i lived a mile and a half from gaza for the last 32 years, we understand that there is no more putting this off. The alternative is mass murder and mass abduction by Hamas Terrorists, not the palestinian people, by hamas. I am so sorry that you have such an acute understanding of this horrible situation in a way that few others do. We really sincerely appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Please come back soon and keep us posted on the status of kherson. Well continue to think about him and all the others that have been abducted. Father of an American Citizen taken hostage by hamas, thank you so much for making time tonight. Thank you for your concern. Stories like jonathan, stories of families being ripped apart across israel and gaza, they speak to exactly why israels war with hamas is so deeply tragic. Civilians have and unfortunately may continue to bear the cross of this bloody conflict. So to me now is nathan, a Jewish American journalist based in jerusalem and the author of the new book, a day in the life of a bet salama. Nathan, thank you for being here. I have been reading some of the interviews that you have been doing, and i am so interested in your perspective for the root of this as a concerns hamas, because on a certain level, one would assume that hamas and know that executing such a brutal historically brutal attack on israel would lead to a devastating response. A Full Throttle response from Prime Minister netanyahu. I wonder what you think the strategy is behind this and whether hamas believes that infect a Ground Invasion is ultimately going to happen. I think that hamas was surprised by that degree to which it succeeded in carrying out the attack. It, i think, was shocked at the speed with which it took over Israeli Military bases and communities. And the number of captives that that got, i think, also exceeded all its expectations. That said, the nature of the attack that had planned because unprecedented and they had to know that israel would respond in a way that it never has contemplated doing before. And what were about to see, probably, as soon as the next few hours is that is really response that weve never seen before, which is going to be a very bloody and very costly Ground Invasion. And weve already seen israel has called on over 1 Million People to move from Northern Gaza to southern gaza. Theyre cutting off food, electricity and water to 2. 1 Million People who have absolutely nothing to do with the hamas attack. And they probably intend to reoccupy parts of gaza. And i think that hamas absolutely planned for that to happen. They are planning to attack israel from tunnels within gaza. Theyre planning to attack more Israeli Soldiers that come into gaza. And, you know, hamas is not a state army. It does not pose existential threat to israel. The israeli army does pose an existential threat to hamas. And hamas has put at risk it, its control of gaza. And it may see that as a worthwhile risk that stand to gain leadership of the Palestinian Movement and come to power over all the Palestinian National movement. But its a tremendous risk and the people of gaza are now paying the price. The idea that hamas may try and use this to effectively seize control from fatah, more secular organization, that seems to be, if you look for a reason as to why they tried to do this, that would seem to be. I do wonder if you think if that is the case, whether, as the atlantic writes, they have a piece today coat israel is walking into a trap, whether in fact, you know, hamas is counting on israel to attack gaza with such ferocity that the international sympathy of the past week toward israel, even in the arab world, evaporates quickly and as replaced by outrage at the suffering inflicted on the 2 million residents of gaza. Is that sort of the inevitable paths that we are heading down . Absolutely. I dont think any person can look at the images that were already seeing from gaza. I have a very close and Dear Colleague and friend who lives there, who had shrapnel in his living room, who was separated from his daughter, could not find her. Hes now relocated and someone elses home with dozens of other people in southern gaza. Anyone who looks at these images, at the level of destruction, that raising of the most prosperous upscale area of gaza city. No one is going to look at the killing of people fleeing the Northern Gaza to the south, and not feel tremendous sympathy for them. For these innocent civilians. And of course its going to change Public Opinion throughout the world. And then eventually were going to see more forceful calls for a ceasefire. Right now, we dont even have that you face u. S. Calling for a ceasefire. We dont even have the u. S. Stopping israel from collectively punishing 2. 1 million innocent people by cutting off food, water and electricity to them. The u. S. Is complicit in a war crime right now. In the meantime, it looks like that kind of after effects of this Ground Invasion, and the Bombing Campaign, they stumble the agreement between the u. S. And saudi arabia, which is exactly what a country like iran would like to see happen. And iran, though it is inconclusive, it may have been involved in planning the attack at the first place. There is a lot to untangle in all this. Nathan thrall, i really appreciate your time and expertise and trying to help us understand what happened here. Thanks again. Thank you for having me. Well be right back with more continuing coverage of the israel hamas war. Dont go anywhere. Im gonna hold you forever. Ill be there. You dont. You dont have to worry. All get, lock with satanics full of israeli troops headed toward the border with gaza and response to deadly attacks on israel last week, launched by hamas terrorist groups. Today, Israeli Forces began what theyre calling localized rates and border towns inside the gaza strip. To clear out hamas antitank forces and to look for signs of hostages. The idf confirmed today they carried out 750 airstrikes in gaza, just last night. Thats on top of the more than 6000 bombs dropped in the six days prior. For context, thats more bombs than that United States drops per year in afghanistan. Afghanistan unfortunately helps explain with utah and gaza has rushed dramatically with more than 1900 killed. And israel, the death toll from last weekend to tonight sets and 1300. And tonight, nbc news has obtained chilling new details about how exactly it Hamas Terrorists chose the targets. Documents recovered from the bodies of hamas fighters and obtained by nbc news from an israeli official show how the Group Detailed plans to storm specific schools. A task special units to double hostages. But documents contradict hamas claims the group does not target children. [sound of gunfire] and theyre part of it the Motion Picture of the scale and sophistication of the attack. About 500 children were killed in israel this week, psych hundred and 14 children have been killed and gaza. Its just an unimaginable amount of loss. And tonight, there is a very live question about whether this already awful conflict is about to escalate dramatically. Israeli forces seem to be in position and ready for a full Ground Invasion of gaza. Yesterday, israel dropped these leaflets all around the Densely Populated Northern Half of the gaza strip. That red, in arabic, gaza city has turned into a battlefield. You have to leave your homes immediately and head south of what he gaza. For your safety, dont return to your homes until further notice from the Israeli Defense forces. This is the wadi does that line. It cuts gazan. Have 1. 1 people live north of that line and is essentially told em to leave their homes, for who knows how long, and less than 24 hours. And context, last year in the United States experiencing homelessness. Thats a number for an entire year. Matt displacement gossip will fort worth brought people out of their homes, in just 24 hours. There is more people then live in austin or San Francisco or seattle or denver. The u. N. Called this Infatuation Order impossible to carry out, without devastating humanitarian consequences. Okay, we are going to come back with it sound a little bit later. For the gazans fleeing, once they make it past the wadi gaza line, thrust out there. Egypt has done a lot of palestinians to cross their borders. U. S. Officials estimate about 500 to 600 palestinian americans are among those tremendous right, now as well. Passing yards to the official told the New York Times today, the u. S. Is attempting to negotiate with israeli and egyptian officials for Safe Passage Out of the country for those americans. Secretary of state Antony Blinken also said today, that u. S. s attention a good Hit Safe Zones within gaza, for the fleeing palestinians. And all of this is a race against time, with an Israeli Ground invasion potentially just moments away. Joining me now is josh liverman, nbc news Foreign Correspondent. He joins us live from now area, israel, nearly portable nippon. Josh, thanks for being here. A lot of focus right now is on gaza and hamas and what is happening here. Here on the border with lebanon, where the violence threatens to spill over. I know today, there was apparently at reuters camera man who was killed in the area. Could you tell us more about that . Thats right, his name wasism upped all, and he was part of a group of journalist gathered in an area near the lebanese border with israel, where they were providing what you would call live shot there. Live video stream of the area over the border in anticipation of some of these rockets that have been going back and forth, and shelling from lebanon into israel and israel into lebanon. There were more than half a dozen people injured in that incident, including two out of zero journalists. This is one of those incidents, alex, that really just hits home. The area where he was killed is probably about ten miles from where im standing, right now. And its an example of how any kind of conflict like this, you have people who are noncombatants, who did not take an oddly logical stance or come with a certain vendetta or political goal, who inevitably get caught into this. And end up either losing their lives. And the Group Reality is, were going to see more and more of that going forward, particularly if there is a prolonged war between israel and hamas. Potentially involving other militant groups, like hezbollah in the coming days. Josh, what have you seen in terms of movements . What can you tell us in terms of movement of troops on the israeli side and what directions are they going . I would assume most of the amassing is happening at the gaza border, but walk nutellas about the fact that the israel is keeping it on multiple fronts . They absolutely are, youre right. I think the way i described is the Israeli Military is digging in, here in northern israel. Ahead of what they anticipate could be a second front and this war. So they already have extensive Military Assets in this region. They have a heavily fortified border about six miles north of where i am. But with seen them begin to pop their preparation level. There is a village called matilda here in northern israel, evacuated, put into a closed Military Zone today. Nobody is being allowed into gear because they feel the threat is particularly high. And so right now, even though the biggest focus is clearly on southern israel and area around the gaza strip, israels military, particularly after a disastrous Intelligence Failure that has really revealed some shortcomings in the Security Apparatus here, wants to make sure theyre not caught off garrison time. And so were seeing those kinds of preparations for additional fronts opening, up not only here, but also along israels border with syria and also in the west bank. Where theres also been an escalation of violence and the days since the Terrorist Attack on saturday. Josh liverman, thanks for the reporting. Well be back to you soon, stay safe. The suffering we are seeing across this region is acute. We have been hearing from several people stuck in the blockade and gaza strip. Here is what literature and Creative Writing Professor told us today. The situation and gaza is comple and upper carnage. Israel has destroyed most infrastructure. People must either gtoou and run schools or they stay with relatives and when they stay with relatives, become a sitting duck to israeli fire and missiles. So there is no more fe. No place safe. Ne is safe. We are heading towards a complete disaster, some sort of starvation, ansadly we still expect the worst. Everybody and gaza expect the worst. Joining us now is im at my dad, my colleague. And host of Ayman On Msnbc who spent years reporting from gaza to omhe 24 2014 war. Thank you for being here. And helping us all understand mountain. Except i want to talk about hezbollah and hamas and th dynamic between those organizations and sort of what your expectation is as the Ground Invasion looms large and hezbollah what is that voting . There is a lot of similarities, but also some key fundamental differences. There is a very important difference in how these two organizations have stated their objections to be, and what i mean by that is the of both part of what is called the Axis Of Resistance. Whether that is around, it wasnt one with syria, certainly hezbollah and hamas and it was those fourth from political the Axis Of Resistance to israel and with imperialism in the region, so to speak. And thats how the kind of position themselves. But typically, a little bit different than a mess. Hezbollah is both a Political Movement and military wing, politically it is part of the lebanese government and so when it makes decisions it sees itself as part of a larger lebanese society. And so its a substance to enter a war are a lot different than lets say hamas willing to one listen his pillow turned into thousand six was is it attacked israel, it went into a deadly war, lebanon paid the price for that war. Hezbollah came out, declared victory of course, and certainly by some standards it was victorious, it was able to withstand the might of israel for the 40 plus days that were listed. And because they were able to do that, they created what is often referred to as metal deterrence. Hezbollah knows that it can i militia a lot of firepower in israel. And israel knows it can unleash a lot of firepower. And as a result, the port has really been calm for the better part of 17 years. There have definitely been incidents, but no major wars that weve seen play out with hamas. And just to finish, there seems to be this kind of over the years hamas has learned from hezbollah. And whether or not theyve learned by actually working with them or just simply watching their tactics of acquiring rocks, heaven i have abilities in their arsenal between rockets, special forces, they are trying to mimic themselves. And thats what a lot of people say, around obviously has fingerprints on both groups. And is able to provide what they did with hezbollah more recently to hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. To hamas. That is the story. Whatever anyone tries to spin and say they did not mean to or that is just nonsense because the dead bodies of the israelis tell the story. When we talk about tactics, we have new reporting tonight, the humanitarian Group Human Rights watch is accusing israel of using White Phosphorus, not just based on videos reported in lebanon and gaza. The idf has denied the Sinker Accusations made against the idf regarding these White Phosphorus and gaza is unequivocaly false, nbc news has not independently verified Human Rights Watchs claims, but White Phosphorus for those of you dont, know its considered especially dangerous to civilians because it burns through flush. Now israel faced similar accusations in 2009. They vowed to stop using in 2013. You know these sort of saga of this substance, and israels use of it through the years. I wonder what you make of this . So i cover the 2008 war as you mention, and they used White Phosphorus, and it was clear as day for every journalist that was that. We all saw it and filmed. It was very different dynamic because there was people were able to required and it came out in subsequent reports on investigations that israel had used White Phosphorus. They have White Phosphorus, they have used it. As to the specific count, im not, theyre so i cant clarify. But Human Rights Watch has a long history of documenting alleged israeli crimes, so it would not surprise me that as we have seen in previous wars that it had been used in this war, as a former Executive Director told me on my show earlier this week, the war crimes of one party in a war to not justify the war crimes of the other. So whatever War Crimes Hamas committed which they certainly did in targeting civilians in their attack on israel on saturday, that is a war crime. That does not justify israel committing war crimes. And now with the White Phosphorus allegation, with the collective punishment that is clear for the world to see that there are 2 Million People deprived of electricity, deprived of food and water, unable to, leave that as a form of collective punishment under International Law again clear as day considered to be a violation of the International Humanitarian law so you are in a situation right now where both sides are committing war crimes and other people and civilians on both sides are the ones who are suffering. In the last hour we had author nathan on, he was making the point that the u. S. But not publicly telling israel not to invade, precipitously and moments from now hours from now day so now we are not sure when, but soon, is interned complicit and war crimes. Does it surprise you that the Biden Administration, we are getting a lot of different, reporting they are saying there has been no private urging of israel to do anything publicly. Nursing as well has to do what israel has to do. We hope that they abide by the rules of the that is what we do. That is what we expect them to do. But beyond that this is an administration that has taken a very shoulder to shoulder stands with israel in this hour. We are understandably, israelis are grieving, it is a heinous, attack the west potentially in the countrys history. So i guess, i wonder, do you think the Ground Invasion could imminently change that calculation for other nations . The notion that Government Officials or western Government Officials simply tell israel follow the rules of, law and they, do is quite honestly a fallacy. Lets be very clear about. That america says it follows rules of, law rules of, war and we saw what happened with we know what happens in one town, obey and it is not as simple as simply, saying we expect them to follow the rules of war and international that is just not the reality. When you have european officials, specifically british officials incapable of saying, or unwilling to say that the forced displacement of 1 Million People to leave within a span of ours is a violation of International Law, when you have International Organizations on the ground saying that is impossible, it is a violation, it makes the reality ambiguous. That is very troubling, when you dont speak with clarity about what these International Law, then you cant turn around and expect people to follow International Law. You cant turn around and expect countries and participants to be clear about what International Law is going to be applied here, and which ones are gonna be violated. That is part of the fundamental problem. I think palestinians look at Even Security Council resolutions about the occupied territories having been neglected for years, and israel gets away with occupation settlements. International laws and blocked it all of the time in his conflict and it has been a major source of the problem. On a sleeve, it kind of weakens the International Rules based system because in russia exploits it in its invasion of ukraine, and other countries say that International Laws violated here, they can get away with it in what they are doing elsewhere like ukraine. There is so much embedded, scar tissue and trauma and precedent and all of this. Very complex. Its incredibly complex, i want to say it is a fine balance to try to calibrate, you cant calibrate how to do this. We are in Uncharted Waters with this attack. Absolutely. The brutality of it is unprecedented, but the retaliation, well, we are looking down the barrel of something very, very dire. My friend, thank you so much for your time and thoughts as always. Coming up, a look at the Biden Administrations diplomatic efforts in the region as the white house seeks to bring u. S. Hostages home. That is next. You deserve better than that. I say we are going to do everything in our power to find them, everything in our power. And i am not going to go into the detail of that, but we are working like hell on it. That was President Biden in an interview with cbs discussing efforts to free American Citizens being held hostage by hamas militants. At this hour, his top envoy Secretary Of State Anthony Blinken is in bahrain, one of seven countries blinken is visiting in a major diplomatic tour of The Middle East as israel prepares for a Ground Assault into gaza. Secretary blinkens first stop yesterday with tel aviv, where he stood with Prime Minister netanyahu to publicly affirm the United States support for israel. The State Department has brushed back reports that the u. S. Has urged israel to delay its ground operation, to allow for palestinians to secure Safe Passage Out of Northern Gaza. Saying that israel has the right to respond to attacks from hamas, as israel deems necessary. But, in private, white house officials are warning that their israeli counterparts to show restraint and to avoid mass civilian casualties and that humanitarian disaster that could turn World Opinion against israel. Joining us now is former spokesperson for the u. S. Mission to the United Nations, shes also a former treasury spokesperson. Chemali, thank you for being here tonight. I wonder how you square these two opposing pieces of reporting. Obviously very publicly the u. S. Is Standing Shoulder to shoulder with israel and being very differential to israel in the timing of this Ground Invasion, the scope of its retaliation. Privately, it sounds like it may be a slightly different story. What do you imagine is going on here . You know, its not too different than when you had the last four rounds, youve had five more since hamas took over in 2006 and every single time it has been pretty similar where you had a brutal response from the israelis and the United States of already stood by israel and saying that will stand by israel in the right to defend themselves. Privately, there is always been advice and guidance saying, listen, it doesnt help your cause if you have mask civilian casualties. It absolutely harvest World Opinion. I dont think that, even with a brutal response and a high civilian death count, that it will change opinion in washington, d. C. I think it will change opinion across the United States, and against that type of behavior. It is a very difficult situation here and the reason is that israel has to achieve for things. They have defend themselves, they have to deter future attacks, they have to completely disable hamass ability to attack them, and they have to stave hostages. It is a herculean task, and so that is why the u. S. Is very careful and saying, hey, we stand with you. You have the ability to defend yourself, but please, in private, dont do this. Thats why there is a census says on the humanitarian corridor. Theyre trying to be creative, its never happened before, its the first time the u. S. Has led this charge and saying please do this humanitarian corridor. When we think that there should be first times in this given the firsttime nature of all of this. The brutality of the attacks against the israelis, the demand of the response of israel, but we have spent some time in this hour and the last detailing the dire situation in gaza for children who are on life support in hospitals. This is the scale, 6000 bombs in the course of a week, shutting off electricity, food, water, to an already impoverished part of the world and then launching a Ground Invasion is unlike anything that israel has done in recent memory as far as the concerns gaza. Im surprised that the Biden Administrations response is effectively still what it has been in previous skirmishes, if you will. I wonder if you think that there is real trepidation inside the white house about this going very, very badly and turning, as it would seem hamas is betting, World Opinion against israel in a moment when it could be the very opposite. You know, i was not surprised that this was the route that they took. They said we stand with israel just because of the conditional . Even the Talking Points, if you look at Talking Points alone. For the past three or four decades, the Talking Points regarding israel have always been the same, and they require an update. Im not saying they dont. We all used to say that when i worked on the obama administration, we all knew they needed to be updated. All of us obama folks continue to say the same thing. And now this is happened. And so this is surprising, when i saw the same Talking Points coming up, it didnt surprise me because,. Listen, were running into an election year, israel is a hot button issue. Donald trump tries to use that to his advantage, i think its disgusting how hes politicized this, but we can talk about that another time. That doesnt surprise me, now is not the time. The Biden Administration is not going to do that because theyve got selection and so on. But, also because the nature of how this war started. This wasnt just missiles, it was this brutal Terrorist Attack and well have to remember, after 9 11, how he felt. Now, i dont want to say, or make it seem like im justifying revenge in any way shape or form. That is why i think there, the distant difference i see in israel saying youve got 24 hours to get the civilians out. It is impossible, but they never said that before. The fact that the u. S. Is pressing israel to work on a humanitarian corridor its a first. Clearly theyre trying to be more creative to find a way to have their cake and eat it too. To make concessions to civilians, effectively. The other piece of this that you outlined in the four things that israel has to do is release the hostages. The Ground Invasion would seem to complicate out and away, i do wonder whether, President Biden said, he posted a tweet, i believe it was earlier today about the 14 americans were unaccounted for. I assured them that the families of those families of my own personal commitment to do Everything Possible to return them to their families. We wont stop until they are home. This is a very highrisk scenario. Of course, for the hostages, their families, for whom we cannot even imagine what this moment is like, and for the white house. The president is out there calling Prime Minister netanyahu, he is speaking regularly. I wonder how much you think that is something that they are going to have to work very closely with the israelis on and steer them in a direction that creates the bestcase scenario for getting those hostages home. Yeah, you have a mix of things that theyre going to try to do. So, first of all, this is a very, very challenging situation. Whenever you have any hostages, but first of all youve got hostages with a terrorist group. This is not the same as a state actor, so thats the first problem. And, already, its already with a state actors from iran. Second, it isnt in an active war zone, so anything could happen. Theyre going to be used as human shields. We already know that hamas has said that if israel targets any gazan home before giving advanced warning that theyre going to publicly execute these individuals. It is difficult. But the difference, again, youre dealing with a terrorist organization. It does not care about its own population, does not care about palestinians. So they have nothing to lose. Hamas actively telling palestinians to stay in place and that this is psychological warfare being perpetrated by the israelis. Hagar chemali thank you so much for a ton of thought, we really, really appreciate it. Coming up, as Israel Masses its forces near the border with gaza head of unexpected Ground Invasion will have a live report from the region, that is next. Hi. My name is kim and i am 41 years old. Josh, what can you tell us about this sort of domestic politics, how this is playing out before Prime Minister netanyahu . What is his support among the israeli people look like right now in both the wake of the attack and the run up to this presumed Ground Invasion . Well, in the run up to this attack nearly a week ago, alex, president , Prime Minister netanyahu is already clearly in hot water. Facing corruption charges, eight months of massive protests. But that has really shifted quite dramatically given that his government is now being widely blamed for massive security and Intelligence Failures that led to this attack being able to occur. In fact, there is polling that came out from the Jerusalem Post finding israelis are overwhelmingly blaming his government for these attacks. In fact, in the last few days here in israel, we have seen that start to spill into public view in really stunning fashion. There have been several of netanyahus Cabinet Ministers who have been, essentially, chased out of public events. In some cases, out of visits to hospitals to see the wounded by every day Israeli Citizens saying you did this. This is your responsibility, leave here. We dont want to see you, we blame your incompetence for this. Now, part of that, of course, has to do with the perception that netanyahus government were so focused on his controversial domestic agenda that judicial overhaul that we spend so long talking about, that it took the eye off the ball of its Security Threats. But the flip side of this, alex, is that you have a lot of israelis who say, yes, there needs to be accountability for what went wrong here, but, maybe now is not the right time to do that. I have spoken with leaders in the Protest Movement who could not be any more Anti Netanyahu who say we still think this guy is a terrible Prime Minister, but we are at war right now. We need win that war and, as soon as we have won that war, then it will be time to look at what comes next for netanyahu and this government. Steal of a lot of Israeli Citizens who are really wrestling right now with the question of whether they can hold off on accountability for the failures that led to this incident until after they deal with this immediate crisis, the major Security Threat and the existence of israel and some serious questions about what will come next for netanyahus government. Whether he can actually survive this politically. We saw netanyahu declare this unity government, bringing in one of his chief political rivals into the government with him, and trying it to paper over some of those differences, but so far we are not seeing that rally behind the flag effect that we have seen in other tragedies in the past, after 9 11 when former president george w. Bush popularity surged to about 90 . So far, the polling is suggesting that netanyahu has taken a major hit as a result of the events in the last week, alex. Josh lederman, thank you for your time and great reporting tonight, josh. Stay safe, well be back to you soon. When we come back, families of israelis taken hostage by hamas speak out about their fears and their hopes. That is next. Struggling with the highs and lows of bipolar 1 . Ask about vraylar. Hamas, meanwhile, is claiming that 13 of their hostages have died as a result of israeli missile strikes. Learn how abbvie could help you save. They dropped paper, but most of the paper is broken like this. Look, they throw it in the air. The woman you just heard from is a resident of Northern Gaza, we agreed not to play say her name publicly. She has been warned by the Israeli Government to evacuate her home, like 1. 1 million others. She was given 24 hours to do so, that deadline has now passed and no one is quite sure what happens next or when. But the expectation is that israel will launch a massive air and ground offensive against hamas soon. And many people in gaza have Nowhere To Go. The borders to israel and egypt are closed, the shelters are at capacity, the streets have been destroyed by missiles, the hospitals are very nearly collapsed, and woman we introduced you to, the one who does not want us to say her name, she has decided to stay put. We didnt have a car and, also, they closed all the ways to move. We cannot move. So we will stay in home. I dont know what will happen. Joining me now is a mom of muhammad, an awardwinning photojournalist from gaza. Many of her friends and family in gaza are trapped there right now. Thank you so much for being here right now as we try to better understand what is happening on the ground there. What was the last you heard from your relatives in gaza . Thank you for having me. The last thing was that they had absolutely no place to go and that they will not remain put in our apartment building, in the center of gaza city where they have no access to water, electricity, and very spotty internet coverage that was two days ago. Have you had any correspondence with them since then and what was their expectation about how they were going to survive the rest of the week . I mean, when you live in gaza you dont really have expectation. This is not the first war and, therefore, it is very unpredictable and that is typically how gazans make it through the war without having expectations. Which sounds very insane, saying it out loud, but unfortunately they dont really have a say in the matter. They just live with what they are being subjected to and, therefore, they just had to endure that kind of circumstances and all i had to says words of comfort that i honestly did not believe myself. So they were just trying to say that, maybe, some sort of humanitarian organizations are going to interfere before it is going to be a bleak situation and, all i know is that they had very little water left in the tanks and the electricity was completely cut off and they were relying on generators. The fuel had been cut off on the city, so whatever was left was eventually going to run out. The internet was very, very spotty so whenever they had internet we were able to exchange messages. I was very conscious of the fact that they only had battery in their phones for the times they were able to charge their phones, whenever they had generators working. So it was all up in the air, really, and this is how it was in every war that we lived together. So this was not going to be any different. You mentioned, you said, i think you cover the 2008, 2012, gaza war and there is a lot of commonality with those wars. But there is also a different scale to this one and i wonder how, as a photojournalist watching this unfold, albeit at a distance, how this is different from what you have covered previously . I cannot recognize gaza anymore. So it is absolutely different. It is completely and entirely different. Before it used to be mass destruction, it used to be tremendous destruction, heartbreaking destruction, but this is nothing that i have ever seen. I dont recognize my city, i dont recognize anything. Any summary childhood had been erased, i dont see the ice cream place, i dont see the lawful and thomas place, i dont see restaurants, i dont see schools, i dont see hospitals, i dont see anything and, honestly, i am not banking on seeing a lot much left. I am only hoping that i see my family and that i am, hopefully, but i am not really holding a lot of hope on that, either to keep my home and my familys home, but i, the whole city had been erased. It is completely gone. The buildings that are left and my apartment building, the building where me and my family lived, they still live there because we were neighbors. It is one of the few, two or three apartment buildings in that neighborhood still standing, which is mindblowing to be honest because Everything Else had been erased. So this is a definitely different, not to mention that the casualties are 100 for the past three days, have been roughly 100 children. That is not something that i have seen before. I have not seen that ever before. It is a large percentage of those casualties are indeed children. Everything that was happening right now is unprecedented. Eman mohammed, thank you for making time to speak with us about your experience and that of your family. We really appreciate it. Thank you
