Coastal Carolina University held its annual Student Involvement and Leadership Awards (SILA) ceremony on Tuesday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at Wheelwright Auditorium. To ensure COVID-19 protocols were followed, only individuals who applied for an award or were a part of the ceremony could attend the in-person ceremony. The event was livestreamed for those who could not be physically present.
During this year’s ceremony, outstanding students, faculty, and staff, as well as groups, were recognized and received a plaque, certificate, or a coveted Chanticleer rooster trophy.
Anaiya Moore of Columbia, S.C., was presented the Ronald D. Lackey Service Award, presented annually to a CCU senior who serves the University community with conspicuous service through involvement and leadership in campus and community activities. She was also named winner of the Haven Hart Impact Award, presented annually to a CCU senior who has served as a role model to other students through their campus involvement, and Greek Woman of the Year for her involvement with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Moore is a Wall Fellow, vice president of Women of Color, and a residential support mentor for the LIFE program, among other honors.
