Dr. Will Varner, 59, and Everette Talbot, 69, died in the crash in Spring, Texas, on Saturday just before 11.30pm
They had been in Varner's house and took his Model S for a 'spin', according to friends and family
They only made it a few hundred yards when it veered off the quiet cul-de-sac and plowed into a tree
For four hours, they burned in a fiery wreckage while firefighters tried to put out the flames
