Let's get straight to that certified most accurate forecast this morning with meteorologist Jonathan Myers. Jonathan. Over the weekend, we got a chance to pull out the sunglasses, but today we might need to pull out the umbrellas. It seems that we can't get a good stretch of this, right? Actually, you have all that sunshine, but after we get through today, I promise you we'll see plenty of sunshine around beginning tomorrow throughout a good part of the work week. But today, lots of clouds as we start off already a couple of spots seeing a little bit of light rain just enough to kind of get the road wet a little bit, just spotty showers as we start the day off in parts of Chatham County, Bryan County, even up into FHM County. But a good part of the morning should be mainly dry, so that would be the best chance to get those outdoor activities in. But look at this rain back off to our west. This is mainly light rain in parts of Alabama and Mississippi associated with a cold front that will swing our way as we go into the evening, so impacting you for that drive home after work. Definitely, we'll see some light rain around. So showers were beginning to really develop, especially after one o'clock today, all the way into the early evening highs, where most of us will be into the mid sixties later today. That's right, where we should be for average now, after we get through today. Like I said earlier, look at that sunshine throughout a good part of the weekend, even warming up close to 70 By Wednesday, I'll detail that for in the seven day forecast in less than 10 minutes. Thank you. It's back to the classroom. For some students in Chatham County, W J C L. Zynga Robinson joins us live now with how schools are keeping your kids safe. Daniel. Good morning, Ashley. Good morning. There are several added safety precautions to help keep those kids safe, especially right here at Beach High School and other schools across Chatham County. And as they'll be heading back into those schools and through those doors that you can see there. They will be noticing some differences to their classrooms, especially as those desk will be at least a 6 ft apart, as well as reminders of the hallways to practice. Social distancing Now for students who chose to learn through this hybrid option, they will either be learning in person two days during the week or three, just depending on which cohort there in Now. This does come as that $1.9 trillion cova 19 stimulus bill is going to be debated later today in Washington, and that could provide some relief toe local school District's many schools across the country. Don't have. The resource is to be able to invest in improving facilities on hiring more bus drivers on hiring more temporary teachers so we can have smaller class sizes. The idea that Washington should be given out 100 plus million dollars of new billion of new money to schools and not even requiring them to reopen. That's an insult to those Children who are demanding that they go back to school and Ashley, you'll have more of that stimulus package in just a couple minutes, but a quick reminder for parents and students this morning. Make sure that they do have their face mask because students and teachers will be required to wear them. Ashleigh back to you, Daniel, Thank you so much. We do have an update on that culvert relief package today. Congress is back in Washington, and lawmakers have a lot on the table, focusing mainly on that $1.9 trillion relief package. Jared Hill is in our Washington bureau with more. So a House committee is expected to push this package through today before the full body would then vote Pretty soon. All this happening likely without any Republican support. This morning, nearly a year since the first known American lost their life to Cove in 19, the U. S is just shy of a death toll of 500,000. People. Decades from now are gonna be talking about this as a za terribly historic milestone. As families grapple with loss this week in Washington, lawmakers are preparing to pass another round of relief. President Biden's $1.9 trillion aid package is headed for approval from the House Budget Committee before Democrats with a slim majority, pass it over to the Senate. The bill includes widely popular direct checks to most low and middle income earners, as well as money to help schools reopened. Are we going to see the majority of schools in this country opened by April? That's our goal. That's our objective. That's our plan. But the gradual minimum wage increases being criticized by lawmakers on both sides. What does that have to do with it? Should be focused on helping families and small businesses who are struggling, not bankrupting our Children. The relief package would also help boost the testing and vaccination efforts. According to the CDC, 43 million people have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine. 19 million are fully inoculated. The winter weather last week caused major setbacks. But despite progress, Dr Fauci says, we could be wearing masks into 2022 in order to keep the virus numbers down. I wanted to keep going down to a baseline that's so low that there's virtually no threat tonight. President Biden is scheduled to hold a moment of silence and light a candle in honor of the nearly half million Americans who died from Cove in 19 reporting in Washington. Jared Hill and the president is also scheduled to make an announcement regarding small businesses around noon today. Savannah Mayor Van Johnson shares his frustrations over the reopening of new coronavirus vaccine sites in Georgia, none of which includes Savannah, Georgia Governor Bryant Camp announced for news sites opening today in North Georgia. Following the announcement, Mayor Johnson shared this post on Facebook, saying Quote while that's good news for some, it's bad news for hashtag Savannah and Chatham County. The closest site for Savannah residents is making roughly 2.5 hours away. And that's despite Savannah being one of the largest cities in the state. End quote. We reached out to Governor Camps office as to why Savannah is not receiving a vaccine site, his office says. With only four sites across the state in the initial launch, it was impossible to have a site close to every region of the state end quote Well, now to the latest coronavirus numbers in our area. In Georgia, there are more than 804,000 confirmed cases being reported. More than 14,000 people have died in the Peach State in South Carolina, more than 432,000 covert 19 cases are being reported statewide. More than 7300 people have died there in the Palmetto State. When here this morning, President Biden may visit storm ravaged Texas later this week. Right now, get this. Nearly nine million Texans still do not have water service, you see right there in that video, volunteers handing out bottled water in communities across the state, those water out into stem from power outages caused by last week's winter storms. Well, breaking news this morning. Atlanta police right now, scrambling to figure out who opened fire on the set of a video shoot for Grammy winning rapper Roddy Rich and another artist named 42 Dug. It happened yesterday afternoon and a scrapyard in southwest Atlanta, both shooting victims right now in stable condition. Now, neither 42 dog nor Roddy Rich were hurt, but police did actually arrest one person on a drug charge. What they say that is not the shooter this morning frantically still searching. Chris, Thank you so much for those reports this morning, the investigation into that fiery mid air engine failure over is continuing The FAA has ordered stepped up inspections after the engine of the United Airlines flight blew apart shortly after takeoff. ABC is Kenneth Mountain has the latest. This morning investigators in Colorado are searching for a key piece of evidence to determine what caused that terrifying plane engine failure over Denver. Experts are pointing to this video showing a fan blade broken in half. They say finding the other piece of that blade is now critical to the investigation. The really important piece to get back would be that fan blade or the piece of the fan blade, because you like to have to. Sides of the failure 231 passengers were on the United flight from Denver to Honolulu Saturday, Theo engine bursting into flames and breaking apart at 15,000 ft. United said it's temporarily removing 24 Boeing Triple seven from its fleet.
