The Department of Public Works and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority has been quietly telling stakeholders the past couple weeks that due to budget cutbacks, bicycles will now share a lane along with taxis, paratransit, and commercial vehicles, and Muni busses will use only the center lane instead of curbside stops. The city will save $40 million, but it will still cost $121 million and an additional $7 million for redesign.
