A cyclist moves past buses and taxis near 4th and Market street in San Francisco, Calif. Friday, October 30, 2020. The Department of Public Works and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority has been quietly telling stakeholders the past couple weeks that due to budget cutbacks, bicycles will now share a lane along with taxis, paratransit, and commercial vehicles, and Muni busses will use only the center lane instead of curbside stops. The city will save $40 million, but it will still cost $121 million and an additional $7 million for redesign. The plane came to a head at a meeting Tuesday, with city supervisors and bike and pedestrian advocates protesting the sudden change.Jessica Christian / The ChronicleShow MoreShow Less
