Up to five people were pulled from an overturned SUV and taken into custody following a police chase and crash on I-95
After eluding capture for roughly an hour in a police chase, the young driver of a stolen SUV crossed multiple lanes of Interstate 95, clipping multiple cars before slamming into a guardrail and flipping over Wednesday morning.
The wreck on the highway led to a chaotic morning on I-95, snarling traffic for hours and raising the question of whether the chase needed to happen in the first place. Fort Lauderdale police refused to discuss chase policy Wednesday. A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol said his agency didn’t break policy, calling the chase justified.
