Porsche announced early February it had beat the Guinness world record for fastest speed by a vehicle indoors with its all-electric Taycan, after blasting past 165 km/h in a New Orleans convention center.
Specifically, the vehicle to attempt the record was a top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo S boasting 751 horsepower — a measure of output helpful in achieving the vehicle’s zero-to-100-km/h time of 2.8 seconds.
The Taycan generally tops out at a speed of 162 mph (260 km/h), but the limiting factor in this record attempt was the wall at the end of the one-million-square-foot Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
