The search for the missing is becoming the search for the dead. It is not clear who can survive a week under rubble. Here, a delicate healing back of debris after the smell of possible human remains is detected under what looks like a home. Bringing heavy equipment in to help me move some of the heavy debris. How much of that has been accomplished so far . We have searched the entire seven miles of Fort Myers Beach. I put my hands on every structure. Now we are going back for both primary and secondary searches. Reporter can you still find people alive under this rubble . Still on the search and rescue operation. We have rescued several people who are trapped in their homes and had no way of letting people know that they couldnt get out. Reporter Police Checkpoints are set up by the bridge to Fort Myers Beach. Only First Responders can cross. They are set up to be here for days. People leave with whatever their backs and hands can carry. I want to be the last person off the island, you know. They wouldnt allow it. Reporter Joe Mcinerney lives on Fort Myers Beach. How many people did you say . We pulled five out, we rescued five. Reporter mcinerney says he was staying with his fiancee liana and a dog end zone with enough lies last week. Mcinerney says he wanted to stay and help. But too deputies from the Sheriffs Office told him if he stepped out of his home, they would pick him up and ship him out. He left on his own. So no clear pattern but the fbi and atf now assisting with the investigation. Cops have publicly identified five of the seven victims. They say their ages ranged from 21 to 54. Six were men, most are hispanic, but not all. The police chief says investigators are still looking for a possible motive. We do believe that it is mission oriented, right . This person is on a mission. This time we dont know exactly what they are targeting. We have folks that live in homes, we have had folks that dont leave in homes. At this point we dont know. The person is on a mission. The big chief says investigators has been with a woman who survived the attack. She said she was in her tent when she heard somebody walk around her campsite. When she checked outside, he said she was looking right down the barrel of a gun. The person fired at her multiple times. According to police, she says the shooter never spoke a word. So far, cops have yet to name any suspects. But they did announce a person of interest. This person. Cops released this brandnew to us, a Security Camera video just last night. The picket chief says they have seen this person in the video from multiple crime scenes. The person appears to be walking very upright, rigid posture with an uneven stride. He is now warning people to be careful what outdoors at night it appears the community is taking that seriously. Everybody is afraid. No one is coming out at night as soon as it starts to get dark, everyone is in. Took that woman told us at the bay area, she knew one of the victims that died last month, and heard the gunshots. Are there any patterns that you said where there is something . Some similarities have been the locations of each of the murders. It is happening in areas of darkness, happening in areas where there is very few cameras. Very few witnesses. It is areas where it is easy for this person to stay in the shadows here . We find is frequency of being surprised, caught off guard. Clearly not expected. This person of interest, chief, how many crime scenes have you spotted him that . It sounds like multiple. You have a number . We are still reviewing a lot of footage and a lot of tips. We have this individual at a couple of the scenes we havent reviewed all videos related to all the scenes yet.
