Without high school diplomas. And then you are bringing bringing in workers to come eat directly against. Or who cant find work because there is not enough jobs for workers in our own country without education. And particularly go to an American City that has labor force problems wherever that may be. Say detroit. How was it fair or right or proper that if you open up a new business in detroit the unemployed workers are going to compete against an analyst flow for the exact same jobs reducing pay for those positions. At the same time ultra high skilled workers are on the back of the line to get into the country. The more we have this conversation publicly and asked him if who ought to get a green card in this country the more momentum there is can be. If you are serious Immigration Reform that ask yourself what is in the best interest of americans in American Workers. What is the custom statistics. There are a lot of statistics that are out there. Could you cite one or two studies that prove the correlation between those two. Secondly to me why this is more important than infrastructure. The most recent study i will point to is the study from george borja off and he went back and reexamined and opened up the old data and talked about how it actually did reduce wages. They have done enormous an enormous amount of research on this as had the u. S. Civil rights commission. And so on and so forth. The recent study said that as much as 300 billion per year may be lost as part of the current immigration systems. At the end of the day why do special interests want to bring in more low skilled workers. If you get to answer the question. I named the studies. Glenn i named the studies. The New York Times can hire all of the workers they head from other countries. It is happening in our country. Maybe a time we have compassion for American Workers. President trump has met with American Workers. Ask them how this is affecting their lives. The americans might otherwise if you look at that. If you bring in the low skilled labor. There is a labor shortage for lower skilled jobs. There isnt. The number of People Living in the United States in the working agent. Its at a record high. One in four americans between the ages of 25 and 54 are even employed. The labor force petition has plummeted from 40 percentage points. If you just use common sense why some Companies Want to bring in more unskilled labor is because they know it drives down wages. Our question as a government as to whom is our duty. Our duty is to u. S. Citizens in u. S. Workers to promote rising wages. If it was good for the economy they had theyve been growing at 1. 5 over the last 17 years at a time of unprecedented new lowwage arrivals. The facts speak for themselves. The other hand like i said give ultra high skilled workers who are at the back of the light which makes no sense in the year 2017. Let me go to you. And traditionally its higher than the average american is that were looking at. There is no doubt at all its very sad and unfair that immigration policy both legal and illegal has had an impact on africanamerican employment in general and certainly africanamerican males. It has become quite tragic. The largescale immigration. It will increase the total number of jobs. Is it better for this country to have more jobs on higher wages and higher productivity. I took at the end of the day resident trump has said he is a pro high wage president. That is what this policy will accomplish. At the same time to the point about Economic Growth we are constantly told that unskilled immigration to boost the economy. But again if you look at the last 17 years we know from reality that is not true. And you look at wages you can see the effects there. We are ending unskilled chain migration. We are also making sure that the great inventors of the world and the great scientists of the world can come into the United States and compete in a competitive application process appoints based system that makes sense in the year 2017. Normally this would not be a question but will the Trump Organization stop bringing in Foreign Workers on visa programs to set an example for other businesses in the interim before this bill becomes law. The only way to head immigration policy work is it has to be uniform. You can have different rules and procedures for different companies. This does not deal with guest workers. I think thats what youre asking about. The president was clear during the primary where as a businessman my responsibility is to operate according to the laws of the nine states as it exists. They make sure that we have immigration system that prioritizes American Workers. Just as a technical matter you are talking about different aspect of immigration system. Today we are talking about the green card system. Let me move on over there. Just to take the question in another direction. Over the last seven years there has been negative flow of immigration across the southern border and unemployment is at a ten year low right now. Will that be enough workers in the southwest southwest states if this policy were to go into effect. Net migration overall has been at a record pace. Youre talking about some questions about net migration illegally across the southern border we are talking today about green card policy. It just keeps adding on every gear. The supply of foreign labor is at a record high. Its 45 million and i think there are 25 million Foreign Workers in the unites states. Two questions for you. [indiscernible] we are were not going to make an announcement on the today because there is ongoing litigation. But i will say that whatever we do will prioritize the interest of american citizens and employers. Can you speak more specifically about what that ministration likes almost sponsorship that she mentioned. Maybe its not productive. Which element are you choosing. We looked at the system. We took things we liked. We added things that made sense for america. One of the things that is most important the efforts to make sure that the immigrants are financially selfsufficient. And make sure they are able to pay for their own health care and healthcare and things of that nature. Obviously the points based system that canada has has a lot to recommend it. We took that and we added things that were all new to it. And to make sure that we have the highly competitive application process. Who gets that golden ticket. It needs to be a discerning process. If a huge pool of Unemployed Labor in the United States. In your spending massive amounts of money putting our own workers on welfare doesnt make sense economically to say that our own workers immigrant and u. S. Born into the labor market earning a living wage able to pay into taxes and bringing in lower wage substitutes. They are able to come into our country and add to our economy and our gdp but not substitutes for americans. Thank you so much. What we really should be focused on his immigration. To really tackle the problem. And secondly with them cutting that impression. The prussian for the folks that are already here. They are able and they have pending family based sponsorships. Its a new system. And. 2 is beyond the immediate family members that are covered in the bill your other relatives came in. They just had to come in through the points based system. We should be focused on this. In order to really grow this. Why not tackle it from there. But say that we have introduced a 2000 page comprehensive limitation bill. Would we be having this about green card policy. I suspect we would not be. I think its time that we forced the conversation onto this score issue. I know the president feels that its advantageous to have a conversation about this core aspect of Immigration Reform because it does receive so little discussion. You mentioned lawmakers have a choice to make. We are making an issue starting with the campaign. But as far as a real push for change and begins in earnest aggressively starting today. I just work on the policy side but i do think that voters across the country are going to demand these kinds of changes because again on the effects it has on the lights in the communities and its overwhelmingly popular. I challenge any News Organization here. Ask these questions. Do we favor applicants that speak english. Should workers that come into our country dont displace existing workers. Do you think we should prioritize people based on skill. Should we reduce overall net migration. Should we have a limited chain migration. Look at the polls look at the results you will get those in your own News Organizations and they will be very clear. He has the power today to take personal action on this by the way they did that. And bring in unskilled Foreign Workers. And the large numbers of americans who are looking for work. As the president planning on taking that action. With the congress. Just this is a technical matter. It deals with green cards. Back to the president s comments. When this is raised in a debate. My job as a businessman is to follow the law of the nine states. My job as president is to create an immigration system that works for American Workers. And as one of the reasons why i think america so deeply admires present term. He is not working for himself. He said over and over again. Ive have a great life. For it to be functional and work it has to be uniform across the board. One standard for everyone. Can you add it this legislation is not moving by the end of the year how much is a possible for you to do that. I certainly think on the administrative action front you can tighten up and continue to tighten up enforcement on the rules and standards and i think that is certainly something that we would be looking at doing but we would like to have a permanent trade in our immigration system. It will still be in place many decades from now. And thats what this legislation would accomplish. I would encourage everyone to understand the depth of this change. What President Trump has done today. As one of is one of the most important legislative moves that weve seen on this issue in many years. The president of the United States said im taking a stand today for American Workers in the American Economy and we are putting American Families first on immigration. It is a major event and all of you in your News Organization should take a hard look at the polls on these questions and see where folks are and see that this is an issue that is supported by democrats, independents and republicans across the board. A lot of energy from upfront here. Why did the senators who are with the president call it modest. And aside from that do you think that this is suggesting that this is Immigration Reform. The answer is it is the divide between how americans think about immigration and how washington thinks about it. Very confident in him and his ability. Having been in and multitude an multitude of different positions within Law Enforcement. Not just one location. I could certainly defer to tom on the issue. I think that is resaved to say. He was a carnival barker. Does the president still think that he will help fund the 10 milliondollar fund. And as you have does he have any response to his comments. I am not sure about any potential funding of the campaign but i think that senator flake would serve his constituents much better if he was less focused on writing a book and passing legislation. Nine on the year. Does the president know about this. Does he feel any sense of urgency to implement that. I cannot comment on that at this time but i will certainly keep you posted. Did President Trump feel pressure to design the bell. He wants to put pressure on the three countries in particular. He supports the principle of it. He wants to take action in that course. Not just for us but for the success of immigrants themselves. He made all really good points in that regard. It was very open to all of the questions that were posed to him. And give me an example. Back in the 30s and 40s. My grandparents came my grandfather spoke six languages none of them english. Im just wondering what your opinion is now that you had been considering that it has been a large heavy weight when it comes to all of the welfare. I know it is a double edge sword. Two of my four grandparents did not speak english when it came to the unit states. I like to think as you all the members of my family that they became less a mistake what happened today. History actually says we have a very good likelihood of a positive performance.
