I was nervous about going to Yale Law School because of the notoriety of how liberal the school is, but i was very impressed to see that my professors were willing to stand up even against their own partisan interest to support a nominee who is very clearly qualified for the position. Unfortunately, i have been really disappointed in my peers who arent willing to do the same thing and support people regardless of their partisan affiliation. Its disappointing that they wont acknowledge the real accomplishments of judge kavanaugh and the importance of the nonpartisanship of the judiciary. The indictment charges 12 Russian Military intel officers with conspiring to interfere with the 2016 president ial election. Specifically, they are accused of hacking and releasing emails from the Clinton Campaign, the dnc, and dccc. Both the Deputy Attorney general and the white house taking care yesterday to point out one particular element of the indictment. There was no allegation in this indictment that any american citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy changed the vote count or affected any election result. The special counsels investigation is ongoing. While these charges send a clear or strong message, experts say the reality is that the russians are highly unlikely to extradite any of their officials to the u. S. For prosecution. If the economy is benefiting you and your family or you are in an opportunity where can you finally stash some away, how do we do better on 401 k and on savings . Well, pete, thats a good question. You can first talk to fox and see if you get an employer match on your 401 k thats very important personal contributions, 18,500 a year. If you are under 50 and if you are over 50, can you actually contribute up to 24,500. This can add up very quickly, if you cant max that out right now, pete, then you want to set a minimum contribution away from paycheck every pay period of 3 to at least start that 401 k and get it going. So, how can living in this period of time economically with wages rising and so forth, how can that help us get a jump start on saving and how much should would he be saving given that incomes are rising . If you check out your home price on zillow or your 401 k you notice that the price of your assets is going up. Those are unrealized gains though. So you want to be careful. There is this thing called the wealth effect. I think its very important. Have you got to be careful. Use this money from things like tax cuts and the stock market going up to put towards your 401 k and retirement savings. What is the best vehicle later on in life to give to to try to maximize retirement outcome . Its never too late to save, pete. Even if you are in your 40s, if you max out the 401 k contribution at 18,500 a year, 7 stock market average annual return, you have a nest egg of 1. 75 million in 30 years. Yesterday you saw rosenstein and the charges brought. Did the case for impeaching trump get stronger or weaker . Oh, it got much, much weaker. First, as i prove in my book the case against impeaching trump, you need to have a crime, an actual crime, of course, this indictment doesnt charge any crimes against any americans. This indictment proves any counsels office in the country could have conducted. This there is no need for a special counsel to do the kind of investigation that led to this indictment. Second, this indictment is going nowhere. Were never going to see contested proof. A real trial of these charges because these russians are not going to be extradited. They are not coming to disney land for vacation where they can be served and arrested this is the end, not the beginning of the accusation. And indictments are merely accusations. They are not proof. No reasonable person can dispute the fact that russia tried to interfere with our election, but thats not the issue. The issue is whether or not the president , the president s campaign or anybody else had anything to do with it we should have had an independent nonpartisan commission looking into the role of russia in the election. So we can prevent in the future. These indictments arent going to prevent anything. So, i dont think it does us very much good to see these indictments come down. Pete professor, how about the timing of it. It comes the friday before the sunday summit with Vladimir Putin. Is this something that would happen intentionally from the special counsel, from Rob Rosenstein to get this to sort of muddy the waters of this meeting with Vladimir Putin . I dont know what the purpose was. But Justice Department regulations preclude using indictments to affect political outcomes. And you would think that since there is no rush on, this since we already know most of the facts from previous indictments, that they could have waited until after the trip was over. Its not the purpose of the Justice Department to get the president to ask Vladimir Putin about this. The president said he was going to do it. I think thats a good idea. Im sure Vladimir Putin is just going to say no, i had nothing to do with it and russia had nothing to do with it and we are not going to get any more information from this. But, again, it gives rise to the possibility that politics, the thumb of politics is on the scale of justice. This is not the perception we ought to have. Pete still on the scale of politics after everything we saw with peter strzok as well. Democratic leadership and a lot of democrats running for president. Democrats rank and file said then well, President Trump, needs to cancel his summit with Vladimir Putin. He has got to come back here. What do you make of their reaction .
