You know, those sound like there is a couple more things, criminal penalties for government officials who obstruct enforcement and prevent the dmv issuing new licenses to illegals. Those sound common sense as well, don. A lot of us think california is super left. I feel how confident are you you could get 51 to vote for a Ballot Initiative like this . Well, were entirely confident. I mean, there have been some surveys done. There was just one done recently where only 11 of the population agreed with sanctuary policy. And we think once were out there and were really talking the truth about what this law is, that the numbers will even get greater. So many people dont even know that this law is in effect. And a lot of people think that it, again, like i said at the beginning, that it just protects, you know, quote law abiding illegal aliens and it doesnt at all. We want to prevent somebody from getting out before they are recognized as being wanted. Brian you can appreciate Law Enforcement with expertise. Therefore, do you have some parameters. The officers will do. This they will go through a four week basic training course, screening will take place only for those arrested on criminal charges and overall a collaboration between the police and ice. Right now if ice official comes to your jail or somewhere else, is there friction what we are witnessing in california. Not at all i would cooperate with ice the same way i do with the dea, fbi, secret service. Paramount in providing good Public Safety. Brian you wouldnt think this is about politics you have a democratic governor looking at california and saying im going to run for president. This might be a good thing for me to do. Maybe i will make this a sanctuary state. Governor cuomo said this or his office did. Police agencies did not and will not engage in such activity. We are troubled local sheriffs in the state have decided to participate. He is not happy with this. No. And the governor has his job to do and i have my job to do. And its a shame this came down to being political. Because to me its more Public Safety than politics. Its a sensible thing to do not to turn a criminal back out into the community. You are doing a disservice to the community. You are doing a disservice to the Law Enforcement officers that have to go back out and interact with that person. Well, the Multicultural Student Services center is hosting this seminar on christian privilege. And i think i was very surprised to see this happening. Christian groups on our campus generally enjoy a lot of acceptance by the university administration, although im sure there are some student groups who would disagree. Pete sure. You know, the namesake of your university, George Washington himself a white male christian who they would say enjoyed a great deal of privilege. Setting aside the reality of race in this country which we understand and need to address and have aaddressed. Does this not go to the heart, why is it wrong to be a christian and how does that lead to privilege. As a christian, i think this is disappointing to see. I think that the premise of the seminar im sure wellincited is misguided. I personally was taught to love my neighbor as myself and that all of us are equal, regardless of who we worship or the color of our skin. And so i am really just hope that people dont take this to heart. Ainsley if anything, dont you feel like christians are persecuted more now than ever in our country. Maybe not ever but as of late . I think that this seminar is a symptom of the larger issue of elements of christianity being down played on College Campuses and in the mainstream media. We see it, for example, with lack of reporting on christians being persecuted in the middle east and with tv personalities ridiculing Vice President pence for expressing how his faith informs him and his office. Pete talking about persecutions. We have numbers of what christian faiths worldwide today. Over 200 million christians face persecution on a regular basis especially in the middle east. One in 12 christians worldwide facing persecution. Last one islamic imoppression fuels oppression in 8 of the top 10 countries. Have you ever attended a workshop at gw about radical islamic oppression and what that does to people . I have not. We have discussed the effects of extremism in many of my classes. Pete islamic extremism or extremism as this morphos idea. Extremism on several fronts. I think that as we look abroad and see what christians across the world face, i think we can say that here in the United States, we definitely are privileged in the sense that we are not, you know, threatened with violence for our beliefs. There are definitely troubling things going on. Campus reform. This is such a weird hybrid of criminality in politics he felt a special you are not the target of the investigation. If the next witness says Something Different all that could change. I think the target hopefully are the russians and, you know, importantly the second cause of muellers jurisdiction what did russia do and who if anyone the key there is if anyone did they collude conspire or confederate with. Anything that has the word president in it, you want it. But he turned it down. I began to watch him and how strategic he was. And then it was one night he showed a vulnerability that people at that level rarely do. I mean, he was just overwhelmed. Everyone wanted him to be the advocate for their cause. And i remember telling the Capitol Hill Club have you learned every bit of capital you have. Nobody else was knocking on door in the charleston heat. You are only saying that because the color of your skin. What are you talking about . Thats not how we see it at all. What i talk about is economic racism. When you don give dont give pe economic opportunity. We spend too much time talking about race. Economics. Racism does exist. Now her father says that sometime over the weekend or perhaps on monday, she left her home in Southern California and then on Tuesday Morning around 2 00 a. M. Local time, she was discovered asleep in her car by police in mountain view. Only about 30 minutes south of youtubes headquarters here. The police let her go because she didnt appear to pose a threat they said to herself or anyone else. The families say they have told police that she was on her way to youtube and may have a plan to do harm here. Heres her brother who did not want to be identified. Now, around 10 hours after she was first found asleep in her car by police, she burst into youtubes headquarters here. Three victims, gunshot victims remain in the hospital today. When he, if he speaks with Robert Mueller, then he opens up those floodgates, right . So i mean im still, i still think that there may be that opportunity. He may go ahead. You know the president has said over and over again that he does want to speak to Robert Mueller. I know he has been advised not to. I have spoken with number of Defense Attorneys that suggest it is not the right thing to do. Im not an expert in the law. I dont know what the legalese of that would be, if he would be required to. Remember he is also looking into obstruction. So that is something that we have to consider here. And whether or not he would Say Something that would then be construed remember the special counsel has a lot of leverage here because they can go ahead and say i dont think youre being truthful. Look what happened to general mike nine. Brian sure. He had to basically, he pled guilty to one count of lying. We saw the same thing with Alexander Van der zwaan this past week. The same thing with papadopoulos. That. Pete because is he only a subject, not the target of the special treeing, what does that tell you where the special counsel is going . Is there anything on collusion . Are they moving to obstruction . What do you know. Moving away from the collusion narrative, which has never been proven once over the last year. Weve seen that even with the charges that they brought against the people. Looking at manafort, looking at rick gates there has been no evidence as of yet of collusion. I think that is very, very important. So i think, like you said, theyre moving toward this obstruction investigation and thats where there is this wiggle room that Robert Mueller has. Now it doesnt mean that theyre going to find anything. It could mean he wants to interview the president and wrap up this investigation. Brian that could be the deal. If i answer your 10 questions in writing you have to tell me you will wrap this thing up because it is destroying the country which i think it is. That is exactly it. Brian the special counsel also told trumps lawyers he is preparing a report about the president s actions in office and potential obstruction of justice, according to to two people with knowledge of these conversations, because, conversations with mccabe or things to that nature. Thats right. This is what i was talking about earlier as far as mueller looking at obstruction, putting together this report. We dont know because we only have limited access to whats being leaked what mueller is thinking or where he is going with this what we did know he is putting together a report. What the president says to mueller if he does speak with him well weigh that report significantly in one direction or another i believe. Or, he could just be finalizing this report as you said, brian, just lets wrap this up, get this concluded. Mueller already interviewed, dozens and dozens of people. Brian turns out a lot of their writing staff is liberal or we dont really know where roseanne stands. Does that matter or is this about money and success . I dont know if it is about money and success but they certainly have the recipe for reaching that bluecollar, working class voter.
