Back towards that rv and you are watching the video, you can see that moment of clarity for me when i heard guys say, go and check. I saw the biggest flames i have ever seen. The biggest explosions, i mean, and i just saw orange and saw them stumble. And i felt it, i felt the heat and the waves. We will speak to the director of the Tennessee Bureau of investigations in just a moment. But first mike tobin is live in nashville with the latest. Mike. Hi, alicia. They know who bombed downtown nashville, but escaping is the answer why. Lets start with this dramatic footage of the officer you just heard from him. Officer james wells in the area of the blast and he says he heard that voice telling him to check on his fellow officer. And the debris from the blast overwhelmed the area where the officer was standing. This is one time the public giving credit to the police for the fact that the only person killed was the bomber. One of the people who escaped, Jeffrey Rasmussen escaped as the blast shook his car. And we got to safety. Thats one thing, and then the second thing i am so grateful those officers that showed up and put themselves in danger to help us get to safety. The way i see it, i mean, two angel showed up on our doorstep christmas morning. That happened to be an Police Officers uniforms. The bombers i deed as Anthony Warner quinn, 63 years old from antioch, tennessee. He was identified by the name analysis of material in another one of its vehicles. They have no indication that anyone else was involved. His home in antioch, about 10 miles outside of nashville was rated. Neighbor say this violence did not seem to be in his character, but expressed the political ideology of those interviewed did not know it. When we see him outside, he would say hi. And the kids play outside. And it was kind of friends for the kids. But with him. He waved to people, you know, but never got friendly with anybody. He never talk to anybody. The bomb was parked outside of the at t building. Investigators now say warners late father worked for at t, but connecting the two as a motivator thus far is just speculation. Investigators also dont know what the bomb was made of. That is being analyzed in quantico. And warner did have a police record, but a very minor one. A marijuana conviction back in 1979. Alisha. Alicia mike tobin, thanks. Lets bring in Tennessee Bureau of investigation director rauch. Thank you for being here today, we just heard mike tobins report, but my first question is how do you determine motive . Thanks, alicia. So motive is one of those things that it is difficult to determine when you dont have the suspect. And in this case, the suspect is deceased. So now the job of all the investigators from the federal state and local departments that are working on this together is to do the best we can to peace information together through interviews with a number of people that knew mr. Warner. New the associates of his. So we will be spending a lot of time as we already have been talking to a lot of people trying to piece together a possible motive. It is difficult at this point if we will ever be able to specifically lock in on what that motive is, that will be dependent on the information. Alicia still so much work to do, this morning on americas newsroom, tennessee governor getting the update on the investigation, take a look. We have been fortunate, we believe that there is no one else involved. We have determined that at least so far, nashville is a very safe city and has a history of being such. So to have the sort of thing happen in our city is very unusual. Fortunately, it appears it is not attached to other folks. And there is no further danger. Alicia director rausch, is this considered domestic terrorism . The definition for domestic terrorism we have not met yet. Trying to determine if there is an ideology that this person was trying to push by their act of violence. At this point, that in question has not been answered. It is still early in the investigation, that question is not obvious as you would see in some other cases in this party. It is just not obvious yet. Alicia what about the connection to this at t building, do you think that there is a real connection here between the positioning of the rv and that building . You know, it appears that way. Of course that is all part of the investigation. We are trying to determine that. The piece of information about his father being a former employee, that certainly gives us an area to look at, to determine if that was indeed the target. If there was a target. So that its all part of the Ongoing Investigation that so many of us are engaged of at this point. Alicia one thing that caught my attention and that of so many others is that power was knocked out not just in the area, but it went to neighboring states. And also included knocking out for a brief period of time 911 communications and other types of communications. Does this expose some vulnerability for other buildings of the type around the United States that the department of Homeland Security is focusing on . It certainly puts it on a high alert radar for all of us. Understanding that these locations where these switches exist and how critical they are to the infrastructure, absolutely. Most of these locations are on these lists throughout the country, you know, the various lists that exist on infrastructure for protection. So many are already there, and there are areas that are watched very closely. This just seems to be one of those you know, that slid under the radar and was able to cause the destruction that it did. Its not something that anyone saw coming whatsoever. Alicia just a little bit of time, but i am curious with this recorded warning that provided Police Officers the opportunity to get out seems from my unknown eye that the target was more property than people, what do you think . Yes, so, and solely based this on my experience, my time in tenure and Law Enforcement over 31 years now. It does give that appearance. It does give the appearance that there was no intent to harm others, although the other piece to that has us thinking, they know lawenforcement would be drawn into that. So is that a target . Thats all part of the Ongoing Investigation trying to determine was there a specific target . Was there an individual target . Those are just questions that remain unanswered. Alicia from the Tennessee Bureau of investigation, we appreciate your time and so grateful that no one was killed. Thank you. Thank you, alicia. Alicia president elect joe biden getting a briefing from his National Security and Foreign Policy teams. Jacqui heinrichs live in wilmington, delaware, with more. Hi. Hi, alicia. We had very few details ahead of the briefing. To the president elect and the briefing now. And giving brief remarks before heading in. You touched on the importance of the countrys International Alliances saying that the World Problems cannot be solved by one country. Also saying that to our National Security has been jeopardized by a go it alone approach. And we heard him talk in the past about how he would have a departure from the americafirst approach in the Trump Administration. Officials would not comment on the details of the briefing ahead of it, but learned about specific headlines like the solar wind path and the national bombing. Even President Trumps veto of the spending bill which the house is voting tonight whether to override. The focus would be a broad overview of the health of the countrys National Security and Foreign Policy institutions. It is joe bidens first public event since christmas coming as he still has multiple cabinet and cabinet level positions left to fill. More than two weeks late on a selfimposed deadline to nominate his choice for attorney general. Bernie sanders said that joe biden has not established a truly coalition cabinet. He urged him to go with a strong progressive candidate for ag, but republicans are pushing his middle of the lane. The Progressive Movement itself is probably 35 or 40 of the democratic coalition. And i believe that the Progressive Movement deserves seats in the cabinet, that has not yet happen. Your previous guess would probably like them to move more to the left, but i have been pushing the try to keep him in a more moderate place where he is willing to reach across the aisle and Work Together with republicans. We also expected some mention of the Coronavirus Relief and spending bill that President Trump signed last night. But we just learned a few moments ago that to joe biden will be holding another event tomorrow to talk about that. He has called this bill a down payment on more relief needed early in 2021. Alicia. Alicia thanks, jacqui heinricjacqui. The house n President Trumps demand to bump up stimulus. And Nancy Pelosis tasks to its base speaker got a little mercury. Trey gowdy reacts. s welcome on your own front lawn. At newday usa, our aim is to help every veteran family celebrate home by helping them leverage their va benefits to purchase a home with no down payment to enjoy the life they so rightly deserve. Alicia the House Reading like mack meeting in a new session between new years and christmas boosting stimulus checks to 2,000. Mike emanuel is live in washington. Alicia, go to seo. The democrat led house will vote on the proposal for 2,000 stimulus checks. Then the focus will shift to the senate where the democratic leader says he could really use President Trump help. It is up to the senate, every Senate Democrat is for it. But unfortunately, we do not have the republicans on board. Today i am telling donald trump, dont just talk about it, act. The Senate Republicans have followed to you through thick and thin. Get them now to act and support to the 2,000 checks. President trump says he wants lawmakers to cut some of the spending that was in the bill he just signed. Such as foreign aid to cambodia, burma, egypt, and Central American countries. For example 1. 3 billion was in the legislation for egypt. Foreign aid that critics note his administration requested. To the president would also like to cut 40 million for the Kennedy Center here in washington. 1 billion for the smithsonian institution. 154 million for the National Gallery of art, 7 million for refish management and 25 million to combat invasive asian carp. Praising the president for noting proposed cuts while avoiding a government shutdown. Im glad that he signed it. Im also glad that he sent back his rescissions and proposals for what we should cut in order to save in terms of our overall spending. When it comes to the 2,000 check, it is important to remember that the 600 is not for a family, its per individual and child. One concern is while it is smart to help those who have lost jobs or businesses due to the pandemic, they should not be a payday for everyone. This money is not sitting on a shelf. We are going to print it or borrow it, and i think that the age should be much, much more targeted. It should be targeted to people who have actually lost their jobs. Small businesses that are actually in danger of going under. Thats why Chuck Schumer is asking President Trump to step into encourage enough Senate Republicans to get on board. Alicia. Alicia busy monday. Good to see you, mike. Mike emanuel in washington. Lets bring in trey gowdy, Fox News Contributor and host of the trey gowdy podcast, also author of the book doesnt hurt to ask, using the power of questions to communicate, connect, and persuade. Thanks for being here. Really appreciate it. My first question is from a practical standpoint. How does this work . When the president signs a bill, but then he asks for revisions, something that has artie been voted on and he has already signed, what should americans take from this . That congress is broken and those cuts are not going to be effectuated. I mean, i appreciate his perspective like i did other president s, but he signed it. And those cuts are not going to be effectuated in the next couple of weeks. So the only issue is whether or not that 600 is going to go up to 2,000, you know, alicia, government is not really nimble. Are there plenty of people who have suffered dramatically this year, and they can use 2,000 or more, and there are some people even though we have been going through the pandemic, have not been adversely impacted financially. In a perfect world, we would help the people who really need it, and not necessarily help folks who financially are okay. But thats not the way that government works. Politically i really dont understand what the republicans are doing. They are having this public spat over 2,000 per person. Meanwhile, they should be focusing on what happens in georgia, because if they lose both the seats in georgia, they will have a whole lot more spending. Alicia lets talk about the georgia race for a second, because that puts the two republicans on the ticket and a pretty tight spot, doesnt it . Well, my advice to anybody in politics now is just promised more. Whenever somebody elses promising, just promise more, because thats kind of where we are a republic right now in this limited government conservatism, people dont subscribe to it. So i would tell david and kelly, whatever the other side is promising, just promise more. Thats populism, thats what we are going through and thats how you get elected. Alicia lets move on to actually a second topic now, because as you know, they are two Incoming Democratic freshman into the house just yesterday on the sunday talk show refused to throw their support behind nancy pelosi and her speakership for the next session. I will make sure that the voices of the people of st. Louis are heard and that we have what we need. And so you will find out then. You will find out when my vote is tallied and again, organizing with our community to figure out what is best. Alicia how big of a problem is this really for Speaker Pelosi . You know, alicia, this makes me want to call my therapist, because the worst of votes i cast according to republicans were for john boehner and paul ryan. These decisions are made in november. Both sides nominated their person for speaker, and nancy pelosi was nominated by the democrats. So if someone in that caucus wants to be the speaker, he or she should have run in november. She is the nominee of the democrats and Kevin Mccarthy is in many of the republicans. So if you ever think they are going to ban together and prevent her from being speaker, then her supporters are going to ban together and keep whoever you want from the coming speaker. So it is great theater. It is interesting, but she is going to be reelected, because even if she does not get it on the first ballot, i mean, who is going to get it . Her supporters will ban together and say, you know what, we will make sure that you dont get it. So she is going to get it. Its just a matter of how interesting the vote is. Alicia people have underestimated her in the past and to live to regret it. How big of a problem as the left for the incoming president. It is terrible. I mean, i was listening to Bernie Sanders today, bernie, you lost i dont know if you got the memo, but you ran and you lost. And joe biden can say he is the most progressive person, he has a lot more progressive than i want him to be. But he aint no where near aoc and have the squad and Bernie Sanders. So expectations have been set really high. If they dont won the two seats in georgia, they are not really going to be able to accomplish much of anything. So there will be a disappointment. Alicia trey gowdy, good to talk to you, thank you so much. You too, thank you. Alicia President Trump looking to put republicans over the top of the Senate Setting a state for a big rally ahead of georgias crucial one off. Our panel reacts. At walmart, target and other fine stores. Alicia just over one week until election day in georgias Crucial Senate runoff races. To the outcome of course will determine which Party Controls the upper chamber. Steve harrigans live in. Hi, steve. In addition to battling for the sanity of the two republican senators are battling to free an 18yearold american skyler mack who has been in jail in the Cayman Islands since december 15th for violating covid. Kelly leffler are trying to Diplomatic Group running for the u. S. Embassy in jamaica, the following is a sincere hope of her parents that she can safely and expeditiously return home. Continue her studies as a premed student at mercer coming university. Failed to isolate for two weeks after arriving in the Cayman Islands and removed an electronic tracing bracelet. And those elections will determine which Party Controls the senate for the next two years, thats why it has drawn so much National Attention and national money. At the four candidates have raised more than 340 million over just the past two months alone, and President Trump has announced that he will come to georgia yet again on the eve of the election on january 4th. Alicia, back to you. Alicia Steve Harrigan, thanks. Lets bring in the panel. Thank you so much for being here. I will start with you, President Trump has announced that he is going to hold a rally in georgia the day before the election, a week from today. What are your thoughts on that and what impact will it have . Congressman . Im sorry, forgive me. Thank you for having me on. Happy holidays. Two things. One, the president has to decide how much of the grievance that he is going out for the georgia race. Pointing out that he believes that he won the state of georgia and urging voters to call the governor and the secretary of state. If he makes this about himself, it probably will continue to confuse Republican Voters there as well as democrats. Two, the question about what you have been talking about on the show leading up to the segment if republicans are going to have a choice to make, because they followed the president who is urging the 2,000 check, that i might add, i support. But they follow the two senators who seem to support the 600 check. So all of those things add up in a way that probably the democrats heading into this final eight days of the race. Alicia charlie, what are your thoughts on this announcement by the president that he will hold a rally, is it going to help or hurt or is he walking a fine line . Anything helps at this point. I was in atlanta, georgia, last week, and having covered campaigns for 20 plus years, i was astounded to look around and realize that it is december 20th and the amount of money that is being spent every single day even now in georgia on this race, and man, i feel nothing but sorrow for all of those good georgian voters on both sides of the aisle who have to listen to this for another week, it has to be insane for them. And you know, the billboards come the radio ads, the tv ads, it is just blanketed. But the important thing is, and i think that i agree with harold about the importance of President Trump to focus on how important this race is not because not that it is going undo his grievances about how the election was handled, but the fact that his entire agenda, anything, that has come out of President Trump needs to come out in georgia in order to preserve his legacy and to preserve the accomplishments that he has made. And it is tough, but i think that the president going down there and holding a rally in talking to his voters is probably one of the most effective ways they can do that. Certainly more effective than a lot of the other things that are going on in georgia right now. Alicia so much drama surrounding georgia right now. Charlie, you brought up fundraising, lets look at those numbers and Steve Harrigan was discussing them as well. This is a Georgia Senate race candidate. The record haul that they have brought in. You can see out raising david perdue, Rafael Warnock saying that senator loeffler. However, i want you to look at another sub it set of numbers. These are the massive fundraising calls from the past. If you take a look, you can see Jamie Harrison outspent Lindsey Graham and beto orourke in 2018 staying with said crews ted cruz, both of them lost. So congressman perdue near, could you begin . Money does not always translate to a victory. This is true. Even President Trump can look back to 16. So money is a factor, but not a determinant factor. I think that two things of the democrat, and you touched on some of the other leading segments. Can it continue to be outside the mainstream politics in the country . If they are, than they are going to face a harder time. I think that the country is signaling in a very strong way that they believe joe biden is going to sit somewhere in the center. I heard you talk a little bit about whether he is like aoc or larry hogan, some other things with some other shows on sunday. Joe biden is right in the middle. If these two candidates in georgia, im not saying, but if they can center themselves and stay right with joe biden on the politics, i think that they can find themselves in a victorious position on january 5th. What happens is republicans are trying to paint them as much as they can outside of that mainstream. Alicia charlie, i will give you a final moment for your thoughts. If it were harold jordan clement jr. , i would have all the faith in the world that he would be a moderate. But for joe biden, all bets are off, i dont think that we know what we are getting. Alicia gentlemen, thank you for your time. I hope you have a good day. Its a busy one. Kayleigh mcenany firing back after one of cnns top anchors took a shot at her. And other white house officials. Alicia bottom of the hour, tempered top headlines. Looking for a motive in the nashville bombing. Motive is one of those things that it is difficult to determine if we will ever be able to specifically lock in on what that motive is, will be dependent on the information. Alicia friday morning explosion injured three people and severely damaged dozens of buildings in downtown nashville. A deadly christmas weekend in chicago, at least seven people were killed and more than two dozen were shot. Chicago reporting a massive spike in homicides. S. , and now we are learning more on windows vaccines will become widely available nationwide. Here is the assistant secretary at Health Admiral brett giroir. We still expect that any americans who want the vaccine can be vaccinated by gm. If thats really very exciting. That means a couple hundred Million People being able to be vaccinated by that time. Alicia bryan llenas is live in new york city with more. Hi, brian. Hi, alicia. You just heard the admiral saying that by june, anyone who wants to get vaccinated should be able to get vaccinated. There will be enough doses. Im part of the reason is that there is more vexing on the way. Astrazeneca expected at any moment this week to be approved in the United Kingdom by their regulators. And by next week it could actually be distributed and administered to people. If the company says its vaccine is actually effective against the new strain of covid19 that is in the u. K. And that is spreading quicker than the original. Now back in the u. S. , so far 10. 8 million vaccines have been distributed nationwide and more than 2 million doses have been administered. By the first week of january, they expect they have 20 million vaccines distributed in the u. S. , by the end of january another 30 million, and by marc. So far under cdc recommendations, we are currently in phase 1 letter a of the rollout. That means Hospital Health care workers in longterm workers and residents are getting vaccinated. But the next will be 75 or older or first responders, Public Transit workers, Grocery Store workers. Then those age 65 or older and all other essential workers like construction workers and bank tellers. This also includes anyone with highrisk medical conditions that are over the age of 16. And as for children under the age of 16, admiral giroir, alicia, says that they have not seen enough data to show that these vaccines are actually safer young children, but he also did say that kids should be able to go to school regardless of the vaccine. He said that schools are safe. Alicia. Alicia bryan llenas in new york, thank you. Dr. Anthony fauci admitting over the weekend he moved to the goalposts on the numbers needed for covid herd immunity. Watch. I would imagine that you would need something a little less than the 90 . Thats where i got to the 85. Bottom line is it is a guesstimate. I gave arranged, and i use any discussion like we are having now, dana, to encourage people to get to that goal of 7085 of the people vaccinated. Thats where we really want to be. Alicia joining me now is Fox News Contributor and media politics calmness for the hill joe concha. Thank you for being here on this monday. You just heard dr. Fauci, what is your take away from that . I think that dr. Fauci needs to be more careful with his language paid when you Start Talking about guesstimates. Good start saying that you deliberately move to the goalposts. You are no longer the top Infectious Disease doctor in the u. S. Working off the data and working off the science. You are now just another guy on tv throwing darts. And i think that dr. Fauci needs to temper his a media appetite. He does not have to say yes to every interview. Thats not to say that you should not do interviews at all, but unless he has something essential to say he does not have to go on National Television and talk about guesstimates. That does not inspire confidence from people that may or may not be on the fence in terms of taking the vaccine. And also dr. Fauci can learn to say i dont know sometimes. Because this is a novel virus. It is an unprecedented situation. Sometimes we dont know what we dont know and instead he speaks with such certitude like saying that the vaccine would not be available in virtually guaranteed until many months into 2021, and here we are a two company is already disturbing not vaccine. So in the end, dr. Fauci does a Tremendous Service to this country. But he is not perfect. Its okay to criticize him once in a while, because he too can get it wrong. Alicia he did receive some criticism from marco rubio on twitter. He writes who dr. Fauci lied about masks in march. Dr. Fauci has been distorting the level for herd immunity. Not just him, many elite bubbles believed the American Public does not know what is good for them, so they need to be tricked into doing the right thing. My question is, if there is something to be said for learning as we go, as you said, it is a novel coronavirus. Even the top experts in the world had to learn some way or along the way. Oh, sure, the World Health Organization said what dr. Fauci said. The Surgeon General said that masts werent necessary in march. Dr. Fauci clarified without apologizing, but did say, i was only saying that because i wanted to protect frontline medical workers and not want a run on masks, thats why said that. But when you see these things and then later move the goalposts or have to correct things after a while, Public Confidence as you said an unprecedented situation gets more shaky. So yes, we can learn as we go. And for right now even though we have two vaccines and we are ten months into this thing, we still dont know everything about this disease otherwise we would be able to explain why california and the lockdown has exploding cases in florida which is relatively open is in doing relatively as badly. So we are still learning, alicia. No question. Alicia i want to move on to something here, because the ongoing battle between cnn and the Trump Administration just saw one more blowbyblow this past weekend. Take a listen to jake tapper. There are some people that are just so mendacious, i would not put them on error. Kayleigh mcenany, i never booked her. Jason miller from the trump campaign. I would never book him. These are just people who tell lies in a way that most people breathe. And there is no value in that. Alicia Kayleigh Mcenan Kayleigh Mcenany Kayleigh Mcenany did respond on twitter. Heres what she wrote. This is a therapy session for a broken network and jake tapper is lazy enough to participate by lobbying baseless personal attacks with zero evidence. Jakes real problem, i do not leak, i do not lie, but i do call out the lives of the media, i. E. Cnn, russia collusion hoax. A joke, we are weeks away from a new administration and they are just going to walk out the door and everyone is still going to be throwing punches . Im not understanding this, cnn hired Kayleigh Mcenany as political analysts before she was White House Press secretary and i imagine thats because they recognized her perspective and did not think she had a problem with the truth. To the bottom line i will leave it here, jake tapper use to a book Michael Avenatti personal personally. Alicia we will be right back. Thank you. We will be right back. Cancel culture coming for schools in california, a committee in San Francisco set to make recommendations on renaming dozens of schools named after historical figures including George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Senior correspondent Claudia Cowan has more, live in San Francisco. Hi, claudia. Hi, alicia. This is still Abraham Lincoln high school, but not for much longer as an Advisory Committee has its way, because in their view, the president who helped and slavery did not value black lives enough. So his name along with many others needs to go. Member panel is targeting 34 schools in San Francisco named after leaders whose actions in the past are deemed problematic by todays cancel culture. In lincolns case, the Committee Says he was insensitive to native americans and blacks alike. And point to his support of the Transcontinental Railroad which to lead to this significant loss of land and Natural Resources as well as the loss of lifestyle and culture for many indigenous peoples. Schools named after washington and jefferson also have to go because they were colonizers and slave owners. Dianne feinstein elementary has been on the list because the liberal senator was the first mayor, in 1984 she allowed a Confederate Flag to be phone outside city hall. Before she ordered the flag to be removed. The renaming portion sparked a backlash from President Trump. So ridiculous and unfair he tweeted. And from the citys democratic mayor who says that the districts top priority should be getting its 54,000 students back into the classroom. I am upset. I am mad.
