Then we stir it in. Even the most novice baker like myself could manage so far. Yes, its simplistic. Some quickly sweetened bread crumbs. Youll see it start binding. Thats good. Im going to show you how we roll the dough. We use a phyllo dough. This can be bought in any frozen aisle section. Take the clarified butter and drizzle it over the top. Then sprinkle a bit of the powdered sugar, just a tad. And then take another leaf of the phyllo dough and lay it on top. And this we do five times. Five leaves of phyllo. And then we take the beautiful pears that we prepared earlier and scooped it on about two inches from the bottom. And well make like a nice little log. Flip it over. And we tighten it. Just ever so slightly because the dough is very thin. And then were going to glaze the top off. Add some powdered sugar to the top of that. Well put this into the oven at 420 degrees for 20 minutes. Beautiful. Nice and piping hot. Well cut these into nice little pieces. You can hear that. Its nice and flaky and warm. Full of goodness. Prost as they say in austria. Enjoy. It looks amazing. Residents of this neighborhood say living less than a mile from the air park, they are used to hearing lowflying aircraft. They described a loud explosion as the plane crashed down and smaller explosions as the fire quickly spread. The aircraft itself is really in two main areas. But it damaged three houses. Reporter the ntsb is in the very early stages of its investigation. The black box containing the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder was recovered from the scene. Still the investigation is ongoing. What exactly happened there. A plane crash took the lives of six people, including a mother and her son. Witnesses say the aircraft was flying erratically just before the crash. The pilots reported seeing birds near the runway in the moments leading to the accident. Heres abcs david kerley. Reporter out of nowhere, a small jet slams into this middle class neighborhood. Did anybody see people come out . Reporter gaithersburg, maryland, fire crews race to the scene. Report of three people in the house. Reporter suddenly, a second explosion. Those here say the jets engines didnt sound right. Flying erratically. Left, right, up, down. Seemed like some sort of struggle to maintain control of the aircraft. Reporter the three people on board the small jet killed. And with the fire out in the house on the second floor, three others. A mother, her 3yearold and an infant also killed. The jet came through the trees and hit that beige house and then landed on the driveway of this gray house slamming into the ground, and then the flames hit this white house. The jet broke into two. A wing flying toward that third house. The wing, which contains fuel, did end up in that third house where most of the fire damage has occurred. Reporter the problems for the jet happened quickly. The pilot had just radioed that he was ready to land. 100 is now three out, straight in reporter another pilot was watching the air jet also known as a phenom. I think that phenom just came up short. Hundreds of protesters returned to the streets of berkeley, california, after two nights of violence sparked by the grand jury decision in new york and missouri. They marched on a freeway on 280. Walking between cars and bringing traffic to a crawl, one group stood on the Railroad Tracks forcing an amtrak train to stop. They converged on a b. A. R. T. Train station shutting it down. Protesters angry over the deaths of eric garner and Michael Brown. They also jammed rush hour traffic in colorado. They staged a diein on boulder turnpike laying across one of the major routes into and out of the city. Demonstrators say there are bigger problems in america than a traffic jam. The District Attorney in the Michael Brown shooting case released more documents. They included the results of a federal autopsy performed on the body of Michael Brown. The conclusions reached were the same as two other autopsies. Prosecutors did not release their interview with a key witness. Browns friend Dorian Johnson who was with brown when he was shot. A grieving mother is calling for justice. Tamir rice was killed by a Cleveland Police officer after waving a gun. Pierre thomas with more. Reporter samaria rice witnessed something no one should see. Her 12yearold son tamir dying on the street. I see my son lying on the ground. Reporter someone called 911 about a person with a gun in the park suggesting it might be a kid with a toy. But those critical details apparently were not conveyed to the responding officers. This video shows tamir in that park. The squad car arriving on the scene. An officer shooting the boy in less than two seconds. Tamir only a sixth grader, died the next day. He was a wonderful child, a joy to my life. Reporter now his mother is demanding justice in an interview with good morning america. Im looking for a conviction for both of the officers. Reporter the numbers suggest her wish is not likely to be granted. From 2005 to 2011, the fbi received reports of more than 2600 justifiable homicides by police. But in that same period, there were only 41 cases where an officer was charged with murder or manslaughter. Why is it so rare for an officer to be charged . Two reasons. The law gives the officer the benefit of the doubt. And prosecutors work very closely with police officers. Reporter tamirs case, his mother wants the police to go to jail. Federal investigators are trying to determine if arson is to blame for a huge fire that engulfed a luxury apartment complex under construction in los angeles. The inferno could be seen miles away. Anyone want some pear strudel . Lets head inside this restaurant here in new york and learn how to make it. Were with the pastry guy, matthew neil who is going to show us how to make pear strudel. Step one, peel all offer pears here. We have the bosch pears. Doesnt matter which . Doesnt matter which at all. Peel a couple of those and chop it up into small pieces. Well start with a bit of the sugar. Sprinkle a bit of that just to cover that. Just pull out its sweetness as well. And then we set it up with a little sour cream. A nice big tablespoon. Also brandy which is absolutely delicious. Its a little alcoholfree brandy . Alcoholfree brandy . No, that it isnt. Some of our currants. Add some of those. And also some of our raisins here that we have. Add a couple of those. Also the quickly roasted walnuts that are chopped up. Absolutely delicious. Just to give it a little more nuttiness. Then we stir it in. Even the most novice baker like myself could manage so far. Yes, its simplistic. Some quickly sweetened bread crumbs. Youll see it start binding. Thats good. Im going to show you how we roll the dough. We use a phyllo dough. This can be bought in any frozen aisle section. Take the clarified butter and drizzle it over the top. Then sprinkle a bit of the powdered sugar, just a tad. And then take another leaf of the phyllo dough and lay it on top. And this we do five times. Five leaves of phyllo. And then we take the beautiful pears that we prepared earlier and scooped it on about two inches from the bottom. And well make like a nice little log. Flip it over. And we tighten it. Just ever so slightly because the dough is very thin. And then were going to glaze the top off. Add some powdered sugar to the top of that. Well put this into the oven at 420 degrees for 20 minutes. Beautiful. Nice and piping hot. Well cut these into nice little pieces. You can hear that. Its nice and flaky and warm. Full of goodness. Prost as they say in austria. Enjoy. It looks amazing. Waterboarding, the simulated drowning demonstrated here, was halted years ago.
