Reporter ama, here at usgs the experts are monitoring all of the aing tiff activity including the aftershocks. The quake hit a few miles north along the Bartlett Springs fault. It was 85 miles from sacramento. It was felt as far inland as chico and as far out to the coast as fort bragg. For those in the Small Community , they definitely felt the shaking which isnt necessarily over. The whole truck feels like it is bobbling back and forth. The first thing i thought it was earthquake. We could see anywhere from a magnitude three to five aftershocks in the next week. The probability of having a larger earthquake in the next week is about 10 . Three more aftershocks hit the area a few minutes after the initial quake measuring 2. 0 to 3. 0. This is one of the largest quakes to hit the area in the last decade. The loss of the amount of people feeling the earthquake they dont feel caused any structural damage. The earthquake lasted about 20 seconds with the jolt being the strongest at about 2 seconds. They happened between june 30th and august 4th. Police have handed out fliers in the area. The end of a police chase in east oakland. A stolen car that was being chased crashed into a cement truck at 98th and railroad avenue. The pursuit happened after a driver of the car ran over an officer. You are glad to know the officer will be okay. Five females ranging from three to 32 were inside. They were taken to the hospital for treatment and the injured officer will be all right. Police are on the lookout for the gunman or gunmen who shot and killed a woman who was visiting rl tiffs. She was at a home where neighbors heard more than a dozen gunshots.
