In east palo alto, three people are in Critical Condition this morning after a Police Pursuit and crash. That chase ended at bay road on University Avenue just before 8 30 last night. The Authorities Say a car hit a tree going 70 Miles Per Hour with five suspects in the vehicle. A young girl suffered minor injuries and a man in the car refused treatment, and again, three people in Critical Condition, and all five are in custody. Police have not said yet what led to the chase. Now to the Recovery Efforts in san jose after floodwaters moved in. Inspectors are making progress clearing homes and allowing more people to return. The city says about 1,300 homes remain restricted. In the Williams Street park neighborhood three homes have been red tagged because of structural damaged, they will have to be fixed or rebuilt. The mayor says he will hold a Public Meeting to discuss the citys response, admitting that a clear failure led to the flooding and a delay in evacuations. Were very focussed on recovery this weekend. Next week we are going to be turning to focus on how we fix this going forward. Volunteers have helped clear streets and homes but there is much more work that needs to be done. Reporter this is the first day many residents in the rocks springs neighborhood were able to get into their homes since the flood. A big mess. Reporter they are shocked by the damage left by the coyote creek floodwaters. They are confused about what happened to all the chemicals they were warned about that were in the floodwaters, and his neighborhoods are wondering who will help pay for everything they lost. My neighbors car is all messed up. They cant do it no more. I think we should have had some kind of warning, you know, a day before, just to let people know you got to get your stuff, you got to get your family, and get out of the house. Reporter some residents are lucky they live on the second floor. This mans family escaped the flood but still cant go home. We dont know when we can come back here, until the city looks at the electrical, water, gas or whatever. Reporter these residents are still trying to absorb the scale of the disaster, and as few begin to clean up its clear they may not be able to move back into their homes anytime soon. A Sonoma County woman recovering after spending friday night trapped inside her car after plunge into austin creek, and she is alive thanks to a new water team and her own survival instincts. Lonny rivera has more on the heroic rescue effort. Reporter rolled over once and landed on its wheels in the creek, and then was carried 20 feet. Reporter the water rescuers responded to this emergency. A subaru stuck in the austin creek, and inside this car a 67yearold woman managed to stay above water in the backseat with her dog for eight hours. She was relieved and very calm. Gabe and cory are part of a newly trained water rescue team. They use this equipment for the first time in a reallife situation. We got a life jacket on her, and then if we were to head towards the far side of the creek there was less current and it got shallower and shallower and we walked across. The circumstances worked in the drivers favor, and emergency crew said the victim handled it well by remaining calm. The woman was suffering from hypothermia and Russian River paramedics transported her to the hospital in this ambulance. We just got done with our training and this happened and it was meant to happen, and an awesome feel pregnaing. Happy to help, and pleased to know their training was put into good use. In Sonoma County, abc 7 news. Santa rosa police are investigating a double homicide with the deaths happening across town from each other. Officers were called to a home on Valley Center drive yesterday morning where they found a man dead. These pictures are from the Santa Rosa Press democrat. A short time later they found a woman dead at a home on glen brook just four miles away, and police are saying those two crimes are connected. They have not explained how. Neighbors say Police Arrest add man prowling outside the same home on glen brook on friday morning. Its now been nine months since a 15yearold bay area girl was kidnapped as she walked to school.
