Weekend forecast is coming up at 18 minutes after the hour. Four years apparently wasnt enough for vallejo city leaders to decide whether cement plant should be built on the waterfront. The 32acre facility would be located in South Vallejo near sonoma boulevard. Last night the city council decided to put off the final decision. Instead members ordered the developer to come up with a better description of the project and complete a final Environmental Impact report. The city will then reconsider the proposal at the beginning of next year. Today, California Democrats are applauding a new single payor healthcare bill that passed the state senate last night. But critics want to know how the bill will be funded. Kpix 5s Jessica Flores joins us live in san leandro with more. Reporter california just got one step closer to a single payor Healthcare System. Its expected to cost 400 billion but the bill doesnt include a way to pay for it. Under that system, the government would replace insurance companies. The government would negotiate prices for all of california. Supporters say it means big savings for families. The California Nurses Association was the lead sponsor commissioning a study that found californians could save billions of dollars under the system. In part because of lower drug prices and because they would no longer have to pay anything. The trial is now under way for a man accused of killing two women and injuring a store owner during a dispute in a San Francisco jewelry store. 27yearold barry white allegedly slashed the throats of two women at jewelrymart on brannon street some four years ago. He faces 16 felonies including murder. The jurors now must decide two things whether white is guilty and was sane at the time of the murders. They believe the man was swimming before he was swept over Feather Falls east of oroville yesterday afternoon. That waterfall is 410 feet tall. Yesterday cal fire crews hiked about five miles to the falls but didnt locate the man. Two helicopters also surveyed the area. Where he was at he was just above the falls in the water and theres no place for you to grab on. Cal fire crews considered sending men to rappel down the falls but decided it was too dangerous because of low visibility. Now, this is not the first time this happened. In 2012 a hiker fell down the falls after getting caught in the current. Today San Francisco mayor ed lee will announce the beginning of repairs on San Francisco potholes. We were sort of doing that straddling of the lines. The good news is help is on the way. Over the next two years, mayor ed lee has committed to spending 90 million for pothole repairs, repaving streets and striping. The metropolitan Transportation Commission a bay area wide agency has rated San Francisco city streets as fair but distressed and in need of a combo of rehabilitation and preventative maintenance. The state assembly voted yesterday to shield state and local Law Enforcement from helping fda agents arrest people who are complying with state marijuana laws. The author of the bill says it would reassure those who comply with the states cannabis laws that they would not get in trouble with the federal government. Fire crews say that strong winds and dry conditions turned a small grass fire into fast moving flames right along a fairfield highway. 80 firefighters rushed to highway 12 yesterday afternoon to battle the fouralarm blaze. Crews shut down westbound traffic during rush hour yesterday. They say that visibility was the key concern. Yeah, there was a lot of drift smoke across 12 and pennsylvania avenue which was making it difficult for drivers to see. And for the safety of our firefighters, we needed to shut down the westbound lanes of 12. Residents in an apartment complex off highway 12 were told to evacuate as crews worked to contain the fire. Police say dozens of people are dead after a lone gunman fired shots and set fires the in the philippines. I can hear gunshots [ gunshots ] cell phone video captured the chaos inside when hundreds ran for cover. Officials say all 36 people died from smoke inhalation. They are calling the attack a botched robbery. The coo of the resort extended his sympathies to the workers and guests killed in the attack. A jury has convicted three men of murdering a young mother in west oakland. In march 2015, 30yearold chyemil pierce was shot while trying to shield her children in a gun battle outside her home on chestnut street. Yesterday an Alameda County jury found michael stills, alex davis and Anthony Simms guilty of seconddegree murder. Sentencing is scheduled for later this summer. Several other suspects still face trial. Three correctional deputies who were supposed to uphold the law will be spending time in jail. The jury found the three men guilty of seconddegree murder for beating mentally ill inmate Michael Tyree to death back in august 2015. The men are scheduled to be sentenced on september 1. The latest jobs report is out and the numbers are lower than expected. Kcbs radios financial reporter jason brooks has that and more. Reporter good morning. Hiring was definitely cooled off in spring as the Labor Department reports a gain of 138,000 jobs in the month of may. That was well under expectations. It also revised the prior two months lower by a combined 66,000 jobs. Despite that, though, the Unemployment Rate went down to 4. 3 . It hasnt been that low since 2001. Wage growth was probably the brightest spot in the report. It was up 2. 5 . That matched the gain the prior month. Now, this report could really weigh on the feds decision this month. It meets in a couple of weeks. Before this report, odds were high that the fed would raise Interest Rates again. But with hiring weakening over the past couple of months, that may add into the calculus and pull those odds back a little bit. Restoration hardware is having a rough day. Its Earnings Report for the 1st quarter was a revenue gain over 23 but it did a lot of discounting and that pressured its margins down. And Restoration Hardware also provided a very weak guidance for the rest of2017. As a result, its stock is plunging this morning by 25 overall the stock market is trying to build on the gains from yesterday in which all three major indices closed at record highs. So far, so good. This morning, bart police say that a teenaged boy is behind more than a dozen car burglaries across the bay area. In the past week alone bart said at least 16 cars were burglarized including nine at the millbrae station. Officers say they caught the teen and another minor breaking into a car near the daly city station on wednesday afternoon. Because the suspect is a minor, bart police are not releasing his name. Bart is warning riders to expect delays tomorrow if they are traveling in fremont. The agency is closing the warm springs south fremont station to make progress on its bart tosilicon valley extension. They will be running test trains.
