One of the victims is a 17 yearold girl. Kron fours Spencer Blake spoke to neighbors on the street who say the shootout woke them up. These chalk circles could be where casings landed from a shooting on mandarin avenue. It was after 11 pm when the bangs started ringing out on saturday. I thought it was like fireworks, because i heard like six. But it was kind of raining, so i was like, why would there be fireworks . but they werent fireworks they were gunshots, and Police Arrived shortly thereafter. And then i go out and theres seriously like ten or 15 of them like rushing by. I had my whole family here. I was worried about them. But the shooting wasnt over at that point, because when officers showed up the guy came out and pulled a gun on the cops. The officers shot the suspect before he could shoot them. We dont want to shoot people, but sometimes were placed in a position where thats the only option that we have. According to their initial investigation, the gunman had shot a 17yearold girl and another man both of whom he knew just minutes earlier. All that Police Activity meant some people who live on this street couldnt even get back into their homes until sunday afternoon. I drove by at like midnight last night, and the whole street was blocked off, so i didnt get to see what happened. But they wouldnt let me back in until like 1 pm today. Police spent time knocking on doors to talk to neighbors who heard or saw anything. To me it seems like people in the wrong place at the wrong time. I dont want to think anything bad of my neighbors. But not everyone feels the same way. I mean its not like, oh its new. its happened before. The teenager who was shot has already been released from the hospital. The other victim is still there in stable condition, and the suspects condition is critical. In hayward, Spencer Blake, kron four news. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave while investigators and the Alameda County das office look into what happening now. This Morning Police in oakland are still investigating four separate shootings and one of them was deadly. That Fatal Shooting happened around 6 00 in the Morning Saturday on hilton street. When officers arrived they found a male victim had been shot. He died at the scene. He has not been identified. No arrests have been made then within a 13hour span. Three other shootings happened in the area. Those injured in those cases are expected to survive. One man is dead this morning and another is injured after a driveby shooting in pittsburg. It happened around 3 00 in the afternoon yesterday at a home in the 600 block of carpino avenue. Across from east 14th street. One man was found dead in the driveway. The other went to a hospital in antioch. He is expected to survive. This is the third homicide this year in pittsburg. Take a look at this. Just south of the westborough exit in South San Francisco yesterday. You could see the hail piling up on the highway. Crews salted and sanded the roadway making it safe for drivers. Brittania arms Restaurant Owner maggie handyside coordinate the effort in just a few days. 25 of proceeds collected between noon and 9 at night will go to coyote creek flood victims still struggling to get back on their feet. And get them the funds as soon as possible. Giving back to the community makes where we live important and it lets Restaurant Owners, Business Owners to give back to those in need. Close to 600 structures in san jose were damaged by the coyote creek flood last month. With many left without a home the community has banded together to help out by hanging out. San jose city officials and volunteers are still working to clean up san joses kelley park. One of the areas hit hardest by the coyote creek flood. Kron fours averi harper shows us their recovery efforts. San jose is still trying to recover from flooding that sent contaminated waters rushing through entire neighborhoods. Volunteers have been signing up to help clean out flooded homes. Those efforts continue. But now the city is making an effort to clean up kelley park. It was completely underwater. And today groups are cleaning up the friendship garden inside the park had an amazing turnout over the past few days, yesterday we had nearly 500 volunteers showed up to help with the parks and some homes. Before what waters receded it look like this. Now it looks like this. Volunteers put on gloves and boots to clean up the mess. With all the work being done organizers worry that the Anderson Reservoir could overflow sending waters back into these say neighborhoods. People in low lying areas should continue to keep an eye out for water that may be backing up or ponding especially around storm drains and if they see that call 911 right away. The Anderson Reservoir in morgan hill is completely filled this morning. It was 99 percent full yesterday. And with wet weather back in the bay area. Crews fear the water could once again flow over the reservoirs spillway. And raise the water level of coyote creek. Water Officials Say they dont expect the rain and potential runoff to cause any Flooding Issues in the area. A big step this morning at the troubled oroville dam. The power plant at the base has been restarted. After a successful 24 hour shutdown of the hyatt power plant to allow crews better access to the debris. The plant is back up and running. It will give crews an additional method to release water from the reservoir. And the wet weekend did not interfere with debris removal or create a lake elevation concern. Many sports require a lot of physical contact. Injuries are always a threat. Soccer is one of those sports. This morning, jeff jones exposes some of the facts and myths about concussions and athletes. apkga nat okay. Here we go. Meet cindy cone, back in her olympic and world cup days, she was cindy parlow. A soccer stud, who always played the game for the right reason. Sot cone every level ive been at ive only done it because it is fun. So as a youth, in college, professionally, with the national team, the olympics, the world cup i mean, that stuffs fun vo three national championships, two gold metals and one world cup. Yeah its safe to say cindy has seen some pretty fun times. But the former tar heel has also experienced some low points in her career. Sot cone injuries are the worst part about sports. And for me my worst injuries were with concussions. I ultimately decided to retire due to complications with post concussion syndrome. Vo by definition a concussion is violent shaking of the brain. And as painful as that sounds cindy knows how it feels. And its a feeling shes had more times than you can imagine. Sot cone i mean, if i ball parked it, id probably say around 100. Vo you heard right. Around one hundred concussions in her career. And cindy is not alone. Along with football and hockey, womens soccer has one of the highest rates of concussions in all of sports. And the most dangerous play on the soccer field . Headers. But not for the reason you might think. Sot mihalik heading a ball itself has not been demonstrated to be dangerous, but usually when you go up to head a ball, theres an opponent who goes up to head the same ball. So, well see one head hit another. Well see an elbow hit a head. Vo doctor mihalik and cindy agree. Physically its impossible to eliminate concussions. But science has found some effective and notsoeffective ways to monitor them more closely. Sot mihalik the devices that you see here are head Impact Monitoring systems. So, they allow us to capture data, collect the data. Some are viewable in real time and others are seen only after the fact. There are other devices called head impact indicators. And theres a growing commercial marketplace for these as you can imagine, preying on the concerns for parents whose kids are enrolled in some of these sports. Vo so head impact monitors are good but devices like these that light up and allegedly signal a concussion well, doctor mihalik says these arent all theyre cracked up to be. Sot what we have found in those types of devices is if you have a thousand triggers, we were seeing that fewer than four will actually be an actual concussion. Vo so if head impact indicators arent the best defense to concussions, what are . Maybe just some wellthoughtout questions. Sot mihalik youre going to ask a lot of questions before you drop your kid off at daycare, but how many parents ask those same questions when they drop their kid off at a pop warner field and go off and run errands for the afternoon . Whos coaching . Whats the training and the qualifications of that coach . Whats going to happen if theres an injury . Is there someone there to even recognize and manage an injury . Whos taking care of the equipment . Whos fitting the equipment . These are all things that i think parents should ask. And if theyre not satisfied with the answer, thats not the organization they should be doing business with. Vo so those are the questions to ask coaches, but what about the question parents are asking themselves right now . Are sports really worth it . Theres no way for me to get out in a fire Motel Management says Smoke Detectors are in every room and that the buildings are up to code for safety and security. Kron four visited one of the newly renovated rooms and the Smoke Detector was painted over with wires hanging out. The cause of the fire is still under investation this morning. As for trumps allegation of wiretapping, a spokesman for former president obama called the claim simply false. The former director of National Intelligence who oversaw the Intelligence Community as a member of obamas cabinet said none of the agencies he supervised wiretapped trump. Now, the fbi according to two sources with knowledge of the situation has asked the department of justice to refute the president s claims that his predecessor ordered wiretapping at trump tower during the president ial election. One of the sources added the fbi deemed it more appropriate, politically, for the Justice Department to handle this. Im andrew spencer, reporting President Trump is expected to sign a new immigration travel ban as early as today. The president was scheduled to sign the order last week but his team pushed that back after he received positive reviews on his speech to congress. The updated order will ban travel from certain middle eastern and african countries. There are multiple reports out this morning that iraq will not be on the list of banned countries. Christian cardeenas is a four year old boy who is legally blind. He was surprised at his Elementary School and was given a pair of electronic glasses called esight. These glasses have a camera, which captures what is in front of a user, in high definition. It then enhances the image into a format where the legally blind can actually see. Surrounded by family and friends. Christian was able to see his grandmothers face. And his friends faces for this first time. Christian, esight recipient saysi see you i see you too i love you jordan jesse and jesigh boston i can see you too christians mother says, they heard about esight through support groups on social media. But the device costs nine thousand dollars. So they started a fundraiser and in just two months they raised the money need for the hidef glasses. Across from east 14th street. One man was found dead in the driveway. The other went to a hospital in antioch. He is expected to survive. This is the third homicide this year in pittsburg. Police in oakland are investigating four separate shootings over the weekend including one that turned deadly. That Fatal Shooting happened around 6 00 in the Morning Saturday on hilton street. When officers arrived they found a man who had been shot. He died at the scene. No arrests have been made. Then within a 13hour span. Three other shootings happened in the area. Everyone injured in those shootings is expected to recover. Police shot a man who fired at a teenage girl and another man outside a home in hayward. It happened just before 11 30 saturday night. It happened sunday morning when Stormy Weather knocked over a tree at half dome village. After the incident park rangers asked everybody to leave the area and closed the village. Police have not released the womans name. In the east bay. A busy concord road is reopen this morning after a tree came down on a car. San miguel road between lane drive and corte miguel road was closed for hours yesterday. A large tree blocked the entire roadway. City crews were on scene for several hours to clear the tree from the debris. No one was injured. A big step this morning at the troubled oroville dam. The power plant at the base of the dam has been restarted. After a successful 24 hour shutdown of the hyatt power plant to allow crews better access to the debris. The plant is back up and running. It will give crews an additional method to release water from the reservoir. The flooding sent contaminated water through the neighborhoods last month. Volunteers continue to help people clean out their homes. And nearby parks. We spoke to people who were helping clean up the friendship garden inside kelley park. They say they are grateful for everyone that has shown up to help. Had an amazing turnout over the past few days, yesterday we had nearly 500 volunteers showed up to help with the parks and some homes. Officials say they are still concerned that the Anderson Reservoir could overflow in the future and send waters back into the neighborhoods. But for now. They will continue to clean up the mess from the recent floods. The Anderson Reservoir in morgan hill is completely filled this morning. It was 99 percent full as of last night. Crews fear the water could once again flow over the reservoirs spillway and raise the water level of coyote creek. But water Officials Say they do not expect the rain and potential runoff to cause any Flooding Issues in the area. More than two dozen restaurants are donating money to coyote creek flood victims. Hundreds of people are still impacted and struggling in the aftermath. Last night several restaurants held a fundraiser and the proceeds collected will go to flood victims. A man in florida is arrested and accused of trying to kill his boss after being fired from his job. Take a look at this Surveillance Video from the incident last week. The man was angry at his former supervisor and demanded to be paid for the two days he worked before he was fired. Police say the man sent numerous Text Messages threatening to use a gun, machete or knife if he didnt get paid. The two agreed to meet, and the attacker lunged at his former boss with a knife and began to chase him around. The boss was able to fight him off and threw a rock at him.
