Well, we begin with developing news in east oakland. Several people were shot overnight. Tk ktvu is at Police Headquarters with what we know. Take it away. Reporter we did just get an update from Oakland Police about what happened last night. They confirmed multiple victims of a shooting at 77th avenue and bancroft. This happened before midnight. It was an active scene out there through the overnight hours with police and s. W. A. T. Team vehicles going through the neighborhood. You can see from the video, officers had their guns drawn as they went from home to home looking for the suspects. We dont know how many People Police are looking for. They havent told us how many victims there were. When officers arrived there were multiple people at the scene shot. Some of the victims had already gone to the hospital by the time police arrived. There were two separate scenes as part of the investigation. One near 77th and bancroft. The other at 69th and wells. So, several blocks in that entire neighborhood were shut down to traffic because of that police presence. Some residents in the area told ktvu they were unable to leave their homes because of the intense search for the shooting suspects. By 6 00 this morning the scene was cleared. We dont know how many victims there are in the shooting but police are supposed to have an update later this morning. We know they said there was multiple shooting victims. Sonoma county deputies are asking for help from the public as they investigate a shooting that left two people dead. They hope someone recognizes the man seen in surveillance photos because they would like to talk to him. They describe him as 5foot 55 intall with a thin build. He stall with a thin build. It happened at a home on highway 116. A woman shot is hospitalized. Deputies say the house was being used to grow marijuana. The shooting may have been related to that. Sonoma county sheriffs deputies need help to find a driver who hit a pedestrian at a crosswalk and took off. They released this photo of the car they think may have been involved. You see it there, it appears to be a gray or silver pontiac grand am. This happened 4 00 friday near broadway and andrews street in sonoma. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries. Anyone that might have any information is asked to call the Sonoma CountySheriffs Office. In newark, one person was seriously injured after being hit by a car. This happened about 6 00 yesterday morning near mowry avenue. The driver 125eud on the scene stayed on the scene to help out. They dont think drugs or alcohol were involved. A 13yearold boy shot and killed by a sonoma sheriffs deputy is being remembered this weekend. Andy lopez was honored at a vigil in santa rosa to mark the third anniversary of his death. Lee martinez was at the vigil and talked to friends and activists about how they are keeping andys memory alive. Reporter the shrine to andy lopez was torn down and burned several times according to neighbors. The family and activists keep rebuilding it. He was shot by a Sonoma Deputy on october 22, 2013. Two deputies spotted andy at the open lot. The deputies said they thought he was carrying an ak47 assault rifle. It was actually an air soft gun. The deputy said andy didnt drop his gun a at their demand and instead alleged the barrel started moving upward when andy turned toward them. The number of 13 year olds in this country who have intentionally gone out and shot people is so low compared to the number that play with these that the odds are so slim that this was a danger. Reporter the deputy fired and shot andy seven times in 17 seconds. He never faced criminal charges for andys death. A few months ago it was announced that he was promoted to sergeant. You can only take so much disrespect. There is so much disrespect that you will take and you are going to tolerate. We wont tolerate for police to come in here, kill our kids and get promoted, get two weeks two months off vacation pay, you know, for killing a mexican. We will not tolerate that. On saturday, andys mother and sister came to the vigil but declined to be interviewed saying they were too emotional to talk about andy. A crowd of friends and activists came out to remember the 13yearold but to show the rest of the community that the pain of his death still exists. One activist says they have requested interviews with the sheriff but have yet to have that face to face interaction with the sheriff. In santa rosa, lee martinez, ktvu fox 2 news. Organizers have a child safety event say they helped dozens of families prepare for one of the most difficult events a parent can deal with. A kidnapping survivor teaming up to provide fingerprints, dna kits for families. Getting those things to police after a child is abducted can help investigators. Sanchez was kidnapped when she was years old walking home from an Elementary School. She managed to escape three days later. Mark glass says police and parents have to be more aware of what to do than when his daughter poly was kidnapped and killed in 1993. Hopefully everybody comes away with more knowledge and a better understanding of what they can do, the kinds of decisions they can make to avoid becoming a victim in the first place. Glass said its important for parents to keep talking to their children about ways they can stay safe. Several people were shot overnight and no word on any arrests. Allie rasmus has an update from oakland p. D. She joins us with more. New information from Oakland Police. Seven people shot in the area of 77th and bancroft before midnight last night. We are told they are all males between the ages of 27 and 45 years old. They are being treated at area hospitals this morning. This happened before midnight in the area of 77th and bancroft. It was a very active scene for the next five hours afterwards as police and s. W. A. T. Team vehicles go through the neighborhood. According to Oakland Police, officers patrolling the area were flagged down by some of the residents who let them know about the shooting. Thats how they found out about it. When they arrived they discovered multiple gunshot victims. Officers had the guns drawn going from home to home looking for a suspect. Police have not said anything about whether anyone is in custody or whether they made any arrests during the overnight hours. They have not provided a description of the suspect. Police did give us the update before we went came to you live here about 10 minutes ago. A total of seven people shot, all males between the ages of 27 and 45 years old. Sonoma county deputies are asking for help from the public as they investigate a shooting that left two people dead. They hope someone recognizes the man in the photo here. They would like to talk to him. He is 5 feet inches tall with a thin build. He has a full beard and wears dreadlocks. The shooting happened last weekend at highway 116. A woman also shot remains hospitalized. Deputies say the house was being used to grow marijuana and the shooting may have been related to that. Sonoma sheriffs deputies need help finding a driver who hit a pedestrian at a crosswalk then took off. They released surveillance photos of the car they think was involved. It appears to be a gray or silver pontiac grand am. It happened about 4 00 friday afternoon near broadway and andrews street in sonoma. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries. If you have information, you are urged to give the Sheriffs Office a call. In newark, one person was seriously injured after being hit by a car at 6 00 yesterday morning. The driver stayed on the scene to help officers and is cooperating. Investigators dont think drugs or alcohol were involved. Happening today, the final link connecting the bay bridge bike path from the east bay to Yerba Buena Island is set to open at noon. Part of the trail opened in 2013 but it stopped short of Yerba Buena Island. There is parking at the oakland end of the path. Investigators say the deputy that shot lopez mistook his pellet gun for a real assault rifle.
