There is more they can do to deport more people faster. One of the big aspects of this has always been the socalled dreamers. These are the children who were brought into this country illegally by their parents but who did nothing wrong on their own and are now living here. During the campaign, then candidate trump said he was going to crack down on this. He now says it is a difficult situation. What are the new guidelinie ins telling us about what . This was a debate during the campaign. The guidelines exempt those children who were brought here. That basically means for now, the obama era policy stays in place. Because this is executive, done by the president only. That could change any time. One of the terms weve been hearing the last 24 hours or so is expedited removal, meaning this is going to happen quickly for people who fall under the new policies. If im already in the criminal system, do i lose my Due Process Rights now . You basically probably have less rights. This is done in a civil way. What that basically means is the government doesnt have to do as much to make sure that it is getting the process right or proving its case because you dont have as many rights to be here in the first place. The rules surrounding expedited removal changed under obama. It was anybody you found within 14 days and 100 miles of the border. Now, it is anywhere you find them up to two years. Thats right. This is basically one of several ways that this set of policies tries to give those border agents, ice agents and even now, even more local police, opportunities to catch and deport people. That is a big process. It can be expensive. Typically, not everyone that we have undocumented in the country is thought of as a priority for that. Thats where the rubber meets the road. He is asking for a new trial, claiming his original defense team dropped the ball. Gabe gutierrez is in concord, new hampshire. Good morning to you. This case drew National Headlines because it exposed what critics said was a disturbing culture at an elite prep school. Labrie maintained the encounter was consensual. He is asking for a Second Chance to face a jury. Are you hopeful for a new trial . Reporter this morning, labrie is back in court asking for a new trial and arguing his previous legal team failed him during the case that rocked one of the countrys most elite prep schools with dramatic testimony from the underage accuser. I was raped. I was violated in so many ways. I do. Reporter labries local attorney taking the witness stand and claiming the 21yearolds former high profile lawyer, carney, was unprepared to cross examine key experts. That was possibly the most terrifying moment of my legal career. Reporter labrie was acquitted in 2015 of raping a student as part of what is known as the senior salute, where older students asked out younger students before graduation, sometimes for sex. He maintained he never had intercourse with his accuser. He was accused of misdemeanor Sexual Assault and child endangerment, as well as a felony charge that requires him to register as a sex offender for life. That wasnt enough for his accuser, who revealed her identity in an exclusive interview with savannah last summer. They said they didnt believe that he did it knowingly. And that frustrated me a lot because he definitely did do it knowingly. Reporter labrie claims his previous lawyers failed to lower the felony charge. His new lawyers argue the conversations took place over the campus intranet, not the internet, a difference that his lead attorney, carney, never brought up in court. In Court Documents responding to labries claims, carney wrote, i dont consider myself to be knowledgeable about internet communications. Going on to say, i did not hire an expert to investigate this subject because it never occurred to me it was an issue to explore. The local Attorney Says she didnt see the red flags at the time. Looking back on it, as a whole, i would say, no, i wish i would have done more. Not only is labrie asking for a new trial but appealing his convictions to the states supreme court. A grandmother was recording her grandsons playing in the water along oahus north shore. A wave knocked 8yearold kim off his feet. The undertow begins to pull the boy away as his mother and grandfather struggle to reach him. A group of Good Samaritans realized the family was in trouble and rushed in to save the boy. The landing mistakingly on a taxi way, not the run way, is now the focus of an faa investigation, and the video youre about to see will likely be at the heart of it. Reporter overnight, nbc news obtained video of the moment Harrison Ford accidentally flew his single engine plane over a 737 filled with passengers. It happened two weeks ago at John Wayne Airport in orange country, california. From another angle, you can see fords yellow husky coming dangerously close to an American Airlines flight preparing to take off with 116 people on board. Ford had been cleared to land on a short runway. Instead, as you can see in the distance, he mistakingly landed on a parallel taxi way where planes taxi before take off. Experts say that is a clear faa violation. Operating in and out of this airport, its a small airport. Theres a lot of traffic going in and out of it. It is a complex bit of air space that requires a lot of concentration. Reporter once on the ground, ford radioed air traffic control. Was that airliner meant to be underneath me . The controller told ford he hadnt landed on the runway. Instead, you landed on taxiway c. W to which ford replied, i landed on c. Two years ago, ford was injured when his plane crashed on a santa monica golf course. Engine failure. Reporter investigators blamed the crash on an engine failure. Ford later joked about it on the ellen show. You crashed a plane, and it was the plane crashed. I was aboard the plane, and it crashed. I didnt. So, again, the latest close call under investigation. Molly is creator of the blog, my name is yay. Did you grow up with casseroles. All the time. Macaroni and cheese was my favorite. Two different kinds. The first al already teased. Theyre downstairs digging in already. Bacon in the first one. Yay. Talk to me about the ingredients. Our fit cut apple wood smoked bacon, the smoky gouda, pepper jack for a kick and, of course, the noodles and panko for crispy topping. Once you cook the bacon, take it out of the pan but dont blow away the bacon grease. Itll thicken the sauce. This is going to cook for about a minute. Then were going to add in the milk. This mixture is going to help thicken up the milk. Whisk it constantly until it starts to thicken. Since we dont have a ton of time, this is what it looks like after it cooks. Were going to add the cheese here. What kind again . Smoked gouda and then our pepper jack. Were going to add most of the parmesan here but save some for the topping. This is going to melt down. Do you want to add the spices . What are they . Paprika and cyan and some salt and pepper. Now, were going to add our al dente noodles. Important it is al dente buecaue itll be baked and those soften more in the oven. Get nice and juicy. The bacon. Goes on top. You pop it in a baking dish, a casserole. Add the bread crumbs right here. Then the rest of the parmesan. This is going to go right into the oven right here. Im going to reach over for a fork and try this. Guys, how is it . Unreal. So good. So good. Unbelievable. We like the little kick you put in there. Ridiculously good. Yes, it is. The second version, no bacon in this. We have caramelized onions, the stars of the show. We have swiss. I like adding a little dijon mustard for a zing. Because it didnt there is a little kick in that one which is nice. Itll be a little more mild, but it is going to have the acidity from the mustard. Of course, also, the caramelized onions. We have butter and onions going, which is my favorite smell in the world. These are going to cook down and caramelize. Molly was saying, al, if youre cooking something in your house and you have a weird smell, caramelize some onions and it changes everything. Or cover it with bacon. All right. Now, our sauce here is similar to the one we just made. Because were not using bacon fat, were just going to be using butter for this. Do you want to add the cheese . Sure. We have swiss and parmesan here. I added all the parmesan. Was that a mistake . We have more here. You can add whatever cheese you have on hand. Ready for the spices . Ready for the spices. A little nutmeg to give it nice warmth. Of course, the noodles. Should i put the mustard in . Yes. Beautiful. And this will get folded all together. Put into our casserole dish. Then were going to put the bread crumbs on and cheese. If you want to prep this in advance and stick it in the fridge and freezer at this point, you can make it and freeze it for two months. Macaroni and cheese, better the second and third day than the first day. Compare the two, which did you like better . Hard to tell. Bacon has a little edge. Bacon is aexcellent. It is called portraits of courage vrmt courage, honoring military veterans. One featured is leslie zimmermann, diagnosed with ptsd after her service. Shes found a way to give back to her fellow soldiers. Leslie has always been a hard charger. She joined the army at age 18, right out of high school. I just thrived in the military, she says. Within three years, i was a sergeant. I loved every minute of it. I enlisted when i was 18. I signed up as a medic. I was always in that situation where i was in between somebodys life or death. I think it imapacted my life positively. It made me into a stronger person, and it created more passion for life. I had a great marriage, but i didnt fit where i used to sit in my old life. I didnt realize what was going on until later, when i was diagnosed with posttraumatic stress. You cant see my problems. I dont have a leg missing. I dont have scars. You cant see the pain, right . I feel like lots of times, we do such a good job of hiding it that we dont get the help that we need. I married again, and i have three adorable kids that i think, so far, ive done a good job with, you know. You never know. I have a really good family and a lot of support. I wanted to go into an organization that gives back to veterans. Im actually doing an internship with continue mission. They get them out doing skiing and snowboarding and mountain biking, cross country. More than anything, it is about having someone who understands maybe how youre feeling without having to tell them. I feel like it is a really big honor to be in this situation, and i feel a great responsibility to kind of represent not just the military but the women in the military. Leslie came back to the ranch for the ride on my 70th birthday. She brought laura and me a signed First Edition of dream big, the Childrens Book she recently wrote, to give to our granddaughters, mila and poppy louise.
