Fifth floor where crews have had their ladders up inside of this Apartment Building at 1893 morris avenue. It appears the flames began in one apartment quickly spread to other units forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate. We saw some of them being treated by ems here on the scene with oxygen masks for smoke inhalation and there are four overall injuries two of them minor two serious. All of them civilans. We spoke with some of the people forced outside of their homes. I smelled it and i could hear the commotion. And then what happened . I got my family out. When i came out i saw all of the flames. Now again firefighters telling us four injuries, four civilan injuries here at the scene two of them serious and the other two minor. It appears they are starting to wrap up the scene and have since pulled their ladders out are told is about under control at this hour but of course we will continue monitoring the situation for you. A suspect has been taken into custody for an alleged rape that happened friday night inside a Mariners Harbor office building. Maurice scott was picked up around 11 last night. He has prior arrest for robbery, assault and public includedness. Today is the day we start to see changes. Surveillance video shows the moment david in the dark hoodie reached his boiling point when he pulled out a gun and shot 50yearold francisco in the leg inside the lobby of his west 172 172nd street Apartment Buildings in Washington Heights. Saturday nights shooting is the result of name calling and taunting for the past two years. All of that harassment because these people want us out. His 31yearold son went to the lobby to check the male when he entercounterred the 50 yearold victim drinking and cursing. He was calling the f word a lot in front of her and my son told him hey why dont you watch your mouth you are talking in front of my mother and when the guy started walking towards him thats when my son took the gun and shot him in the leg. The gun blocked to his late father inlaw and called the cops and corrected to the gun when they arrived. They called 911 and told him my name is david planko and i just shot someone in the leg. Planko senior is defending his sons actions. My son is humble and imbued kid. Right leg and is expected to be okay. David planko is in jail charged with attempted murder, weapon possession and assault. Cbs 2 news. An autopsy will be conducted today on the body of a toddler found unconscious while in the care a babysitter. Rescue crews responded sunday night. The babysitter brought the unconscious child to an uncle at the same address. A Police Source says they are investigating possible signs of trauma on the toddlers body. Chris and mary i just spoke with the fire chief here on scene. He says the fire is now out, everybody seems to be accounted for. Hes giving us an update as to those injuries five minor injuries one of them including a firefighter who had minor injuries to his leg. Scene. We spoke with one man who lives in the fifth floor where the fire is believed to have started. Thankfully my parents noticed a strange smell and they were the ones that actually woke me up. It started to get cloudy and as you went down the stairs i was looking for my little sister we found her she ended up being downstairs. Honestly it was a hectic time as anybody would expect. Again we just wrapped up speaking with the fire chief. He tells us there were a few this time hes now telling us are minor. One firefighter had minor injuries as well but again they are starting to wrap up the scene at this hour and appears that everybody is accounted for. And intelligence and Counter Terrorism says thats just one example of how apples refusal is keeping authorities nationwide from solving crimes and maybe even preventing them. Within the last half hour they have actually cleared the scene here the fire completely out but we want to show you video of when we first arrived here. The bulk of the fire in the wing near the intersection of Andrews Avenue and west burn side avenue. By that time the flames were quickly spreading from apartment poured gasoline apartment forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate. We saw some of them in ambulances with oxygen masks being treated for smoke inhalation. Five civilans treated for minor smoke related injuries. The chief says the flames were difficult to get a handle on. It was moving rapidly so it was almost like we were trying to play catch up a little bit. And so the fire was moving faster than we could deploy hoses on. We got them up there in time. It was a very real threat we were going to lose the other wing but we were able to over to that wing. Again the fire chief telling us the wing closest to andrews and west burn side avenues the top floor, the fifth floor completely gutted by the flames. The other floors some of them suffered significant water damage but the bottom floors should be okay. Again five minor civilan injuries. One firefighter being treated for a minor injury to his leg. We can tell you the firefighters tell us there were five minor civilan injuries one firefighter suffering a minor injury to his leg as well but the good news is the fire is completely out, everybody is accounted for. You can see the fire was concentrated on the top floor the fifth floor of this building near the intersection of andrews and west burn side avenues. Crews getting the call around 2 15 this morning as the fire was quickly spreading between apartment to apartment forcing hundreds of residents to evacuate. It was moving rapidly so it was almost like we were trying to play catch up a little bit so the fire was moving faster than we could deploy hoes lines. Hose lines. Manhattan District Attorney says his office is investigating 100 similar cases in which the deeds were easily obtained on line. With all of the best intentions of making our records and property files transparent cyber thieves are as creative as any other type of thief and they have found a way to make a lot of money. It dismisses them, it moves them out of their home that theyve known all of their lives. Some of these scams the attorneys the notaries the Title Companies are all involved.
