out with that cone of possibility. now the time frames from the initial start near charlestown at 4:22, but i want to let you know this cone does take you on into northwestern sections of carroll county that is right in our viewing area. tanytown large hail yesterday, and you are within that cone of possibility with that particular storm. thurmont getting at littlestown and hanover, the storm will head in your direction and it may be hopefully in a weakened form. but we are watching maryland's most powerful doppler radar. let's give you a better indication of what we are seeing here as we got the most intense band of that rain coming through washington county right along i-70. if you leave now because tough get out for your normal routine, if this is part your your commute and encounter heavy rain, pull over. that he no need to risk driving through heavy rainfall in any area because all it takes is 6 inches to pick up an suv. and once you are thrown off your mark and hydroplane you are out control and anything can happen. a bigger vehicle can cause a bigger problem. smithburg we are watching the storm passing off towards frederick county. ace said earlier, -- as i said earlier, sometimes the heave iest of the rain could not be -- heaviest of the rain could not be the strongest of the wind but we have the heaviest thurmont you are on the southeast portion of the storm cell which means you could get some of the strongest wind up to 70 miles per hour or beyond. we are continuing a track the storm because there's tornado warning. if you are waking up and joining us, good morning but a shock to the system in carroll county and frederick county and back towards washington county. those are the purple shaded counties we have here. they are under a tornado warning until 5:15. we are watching the possibility of storms that are rotating shah tha could drop a twister. a severe thunderstorm warning with the poe dense of producing large hair damaging winds over 60 miles per hour. and -- propotential of producinglarge damaging winds over 60 miles per hour. we have the potential of any storm that is firing up right now that could produce tornadoes. we have this through vin many if you see the red shaded counties we have ourselves warnings popping up in virginia, and because this storm complex is racing itself off toward the east northeast, i want to do a wider view of the radar to show you how it's moving. we have got ourselves these storms that are slowly charging in our direction so if you appear annoyed because it's not happening overhead and we are making a big deal of it, this's a reason we are making a big deal of it. anyone of these storms can start spinning on their own and it's dark out and hard to see. and right now, we are going on the guidance of doppler radar alone which can see inside the storms. and any damaged reports from spotters and scanners and local emergency management officials. we have ourselves a tornado watch until 8:00 but we are watching online a vivid activity toward the west and in fact what we can show you with this particular line of storms in reference to baltimore while it's off to the northwest, we have a lot of lightning with the storms. and a fresh batch appears to be popping up here just to the west of damascus and rockville. hamilton and middleboro through northern virginia. and yes, this is up in the mountains, but do you see the lightning strikes. let's get you in closer. this is well to the west of baltimore. but you can see the line edging its way towards the east. anyone of these storms could start spinning up and in the same general area, where the initial cell may be rotating on through, we have got frederick and we have got westminster with the possibility of the storms heading in your direction. so we have that tornado watch through 8:00 and we will continue to watch the storms that seem you see just to the east of winchester riding along 66 into the north, and up approaching harford's ferry charlestown and frederick you will get a fresh batch of real intense activity coming your way in the next 20 to 30 minutes and while the tornado warning right now will expire at 5:15 and we are just about tenments away, we have to -- ten minutes away, we have to watch what's coming out east of front royal. this is close to harford's ferry. there are people near charles town leesburg that watch on the cable. brunswick this is charging up towards the east northeast. and in fact doppler radar indicates the storms are moving at 50 miles per hour. that's just forward momentum not including the strong wind that could be produced dropping out of the storms at any sort of rotation. dangerous lightning out there. it's early in the morning. you may think it's dark and it's no big deal. let me get to my car and all it takes is one lightning strike to cause problem. this is the time to stay indoors and this is the time to pay attention. this may be also the time if you haven't done so to gather up your loved ones in your house and call your friend and say we have a warning here and we have got nasty storms that killed over 80 people yesterday in the deep south with dramatic tornadoes that we will show you on video coming up in just a few moments. but tracking that batch of storms in northern sek of virginia, -- sections of virginia, up towards maryland and southern pa we have warnings just east of hagerstown. wanesboro is heading up towards gettysburgh burg, thurmont and emetsburg and it's coming down hard. this cell right here between hagerstown and smithburg i am concerned about. this is the one when you start seeing purple shadeings when you see -- seeing these purple shadeings and when you see how this storm may be rotating. and we are watching this develop. we will take you in closer and give you a indication as we are watching this same particular area and you can see this near smithburg west of thurmont and emmettsburg where we have the most intense activity. so we still have ourselves a tornado warning until 5:15 including washington, frederick, and carroll county and emmittetsburg on 15. smithburg is the most intense localized cell. and we will watch this storm ride up nears wadeboro and adams county and pennsylvania. and if we can pull this back and give you a better indication of the storm reports yesterday, yes, the red dots they are tornado reports in maryland. that near morningside at 7:22. we had a few red dots across the border near quantico in virginia and towards richmond. and as we watch it this morning, all that activity pushing itself off toward the east and northeast. there is the line of intense activity and within that line itself, we have a couple of really intense cells and we were focusing on it in eastern washington county. also just to the south of frederick county, and this particular line just came out of mount royal and heading towards charles town and it looks like -- looks like harp are's ferry towards frederick i just want to let you know that anyone of these storms at any point in time could start rotating and if we do happen to get any of that coming through on our reports and warning system and spotter system, we will be the first ones to let you know. we are dry now along the i-95 stretch. but look what is west. it's just waiting to move in. we have that tornado watch until 8:00 this morning west of the bay. and these storms will be rolling in towards dc. these storms will be in the general vicinity of anne arundel county, annapolis through baltimore and in the next couple hours. we are looking right now at 5:09, 5:10. we have a couple minutes left here with this particular warning to our west. but we have the watch and i will watch this band of rain i think we may be looking at -- rain. i think we may be looking at rein approaching howard, back towards anne arundel county and baltimore county between 6 and 7::00. we have the tornado watch until 8 this morning. i do really expect this stuff to be expanded in time frame and moveed off toward the east which means as the worst part passes, central maryland which means around midday
