UNC Charlotte inks three in-state class of 2021 players

Charlotte, N.C. — Three North Carolina high school football players have signed their National Letter of Intent to attend and play football for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Tyson Clawson of Independence High School in Charlotte, Isaiah Potts of Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, and Chavion Smith of Statesville High School all signed with the 49ers during National Signing Day yesterday.
Clawson, a defensive end, stands at 6 feet tall and weighs 209 pounds. He is a 3-star prospect according to ESPN and the 247Sports Composite. A two-year varsity player heading into the spring high school season, Clawson has achieved an impressive 135 career tackles (85 as a junior), 34 tackles for a loss (18.0 as a junior), 23.5 sacks over last two years (13.5 as a sophomore; 10.0 as a junior), two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks, and an interception. He was named to First Team All-Conference in the Southwestern 4A.
