The term of the existing body expires on Feb. 10
The Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) has decided to publish the names of newly-elected ward members (corporators) of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the gazette after January 10 next, stating that the existing body cannot be dissolved before the expiry of its five-year term on February 10 next.
According to highly-placed sources in the election body, they have arrived at the decision after scrutinising the provisions already in place.
The provisions that have driven the TSEC authorities to the decision include – the first meeting of GHMC shall be held within a month of publication of names of elected members in the gazette, which would also enable the existing body to complete its term.

Hyderabad, Dec 21 : For the first time in more than six months, the daily Covid-19 count in Greater Hyderabad has dropped below 100.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported 86 new cases during the last 24 hours, health officials said on Monday.
The Telangana capital witnessed an upsurge in the infections in early June and the daily count at one point had crossed 900. The cases, however, were on decline since September.

Hyderabad: Getting your pet licensed is now an easy task as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started issuing unique identification number (UID) to pets in the city. By this initiative, Hyderabad is now the third city to have an exclusive database of pet dogs after Mumbai and Delhi.
The registration process is completely online and the registration fee is Rs 50. The application form for the license is available on the GHMC app.
