Polling in all ULBs in Telangana ends on peaceful note

HYDERABAD: Barring stray incidents of clashes between members of the ruling TRS and opposition parties, polling for Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations and five other local bodies in the state ended on a peaceful note.
Stray incidents of clashes were reported in Greater Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations. However, the police intervened and brought the situation under control.
Telangana: With night curfew ending today, will lockdown be imposed?
On Thursday, Telangana high court sought the state government’s plan on extending the night curfew or imposing a full-lockdown.

Hyderabad: With the night curfew imposed by the Telangana government to effectively control rising COVID-19 cases in the state ending on Friday (April 30), speculations are on the rise that a lockdown could be imposed.
The COVID-19 cases in Telangana does not show a declining trend, but is fluctuating. 7,646 new infections and 53 deaths are recorded on Monday, the health department said in a bulletin. This is a slight dip from Thursday’s numbers of 7,994 cases and 58 deaths.
Telangana reported7,994 fresh COVID-19 casestaking the tally to over 4.27 lakh while the toll stood at 2,208 with 58 more casualties, the state government said on Thursday. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 1,630, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (615) and Rangareddy (558), it said in a bulletin, providing details as of 8 PM on April 28. The total number of cumulative cases in the state stood at 4,27,960 while with 4,009 patients being cured, the total recoveries were at 3,49,692. The state has 76,060 active cases and over 80 thousand samples were tested on Tuesday. Cumulatively, over 1.28 crore samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was over 3.44 lakh, the bulletin said.
Telangana records 7,994 cases and 58 deaths
Telangana recorded 7,994 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The number of people who died of the infectious disease continued to increase. While 56 people died on Tuesday, 58 people died on Wednesday.
One of the reasons for comparatively less cases could be drop in the number of total tests. From April 8, anywhere between 1 lakh to 1.3 lakh samples were tested.
The highest of 10,122 people tested positive on April 26 when 99,638 samples were put to test. And on April 27 and 28, the samples examined were 82,270 and 80,181, leading to detection of 8,061 and 7,994 cases respectively. However, senior officials from the State Health department claimed that compared to other States, a high number of tests are being conducted in Telangana.

Incidentally, the Dy Mayor got infected with COVID-19 virus even after her taking two doses of the vaccine. Reddy took her second dose of the vaccine on April 20 at the Primary Health Center, Lalaguda.
