View Comments A man was shot Monday in Powdersville by a deputy with the Anderson County Sheriff s Office, according to Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride. McBride said officers responded to a call for a welfare check at about 12:40 p.m. Monday at 1535 Circle Road. The call was made by the injured man s male roommate over an argument the two were having. McBride said the call then developed more into a welfare check. The suspect, who McBride described as a white male in his 50s, had a gun when the two responding deputies arrived. The deputies were trying to talk to the man when he went back inside the house and barricaded himself in with the roommate.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff s Office, a woman was riding on her motorcycle north on Clinton Highway/Highway 25 before she lost control on a curve. Deputies said the woman crossed over into the southbound lane and was struck by a pick-up truck.
