80yo suffers puncture wound, lacerations in violent robbery

Premium Content Subscriber only Detectives have charged two men following a violent robbery at a rural property near Lowood on Friday where an 80-year-old man was allegedly assaulted. Police allege that at around 3.40am on Friday, March 12, two men drove into the O’Reilly s Weir Road property in Patrick Estate and entered a rear shed on the property to steal fuel. The 80-year-old resident went to the shed and attempted to stop the pair from leaving by removing the keys from the ignition. One of the men threatened to stab the resident when a struggle ensued and the resident sustained a laceration to his arm and a puncture wound to his stomach.

Police allege 21-year-old Clinton Patrick Noy was in the company of 24-year-old co-accused Andy Coulson when the elderly man found the intruders trying to steal fuel at 3.30am last Friday, March 12 from a shed at O Reilly s Weir Road. The shed owner suffered a laceration to an arm and a puncture wound to his stomach and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital. During his unsuccessful bail application before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday, it was revealed Noy knew the 80-year-old after having worked for his family.

Suffolk Police were joined by four fire crews at the scene of the crash at around 11pm, with both drivers being taken to Ipswich hospital after suffering minor injuries. One of the drivers was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen, with blood tests later being conducted at the hospital. Police made a second arrest when a passer by was stopped at the scene. (45191478) A second opportunistic arrest was made at the scene of the crash when a driver attempted to pass through the scene and was stopped by police before failing a roadside breath test.

Police alleged a Glamorgan Vale man, 24, and a Deebing Heights man, 21, attended the O’Reillys Weir Rd property about 3.30am on March 12. They allegedly entered a shed located at the rear of the property in an attempt to steal fuel. It is then the victim, who was disturbed by the commotion, attempted to stop the suspects from fleeing by taking the keys to their vehicle. One of the suspects allegedly threatened to stab the elderly man during a struggle.
