A CHATHAM man has been detained after a suspicious package was sent to the covid vaccine factory in Wrexham Roads around Wrexham Industrial Estate were closed off for several hours on January 27 after a suspicious package was sent to the factory and an investigation was launched. Global pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Wockhardt, which provides fill-and-finish for Covid-19 vaccines, said the company s site in Wrexham had been partially evacuated. PA news agency confirmed that production at the vaccine site had been stopped but had been restarted several hours later. A spokeswoman insisted the production schedule was not affected. Police officers and a bomb disposal unit were called to the scene mid-morning on Wednesday.

A Kent Police spokesman added: As part of ongoing enquiries, which are being carried out by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, pre-planned warrants took place at addresses in Luton Road and Chatham Hill, Chatham, on the morning of Thursday 28 January.

And today police in Kent have arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of sending the package and he remains in custody as the investigation continues.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Kent Police have detained a man after a suspicious package was sent to a Covid-19 vaccine production plant in North Wales.
“The suspicious package is reported to have been received at the facility, in Wrexham, on the morning of Wednesday 27 January 2021.
“As part of ongoing enquiries, which are being carried out by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, pre-planned warrants took place at addresses in Luton Road and Chatham Hill, Chatham, on the morning of Thursday 28 January.
