A former Rochester police officer is facing new charges after he reportedly contacted the alleged victim in a criminal sexual conduct case and urged the person to talk to someone about changing their story.
Joshua Paul Laber, 43, is charged with two felony counts of first-degree tampering with a witness. He was arrested on a warrant Monday and made his first appearance in Olmsted County District Court that same day, according to court records.
A warrant was issued for Laber s arrest on April 30 given the risk to Victim, public safety, and the risk that evidence will be destroyed if Defendant were to appear by summons, the complaint reads. Defendant has already instructed Victim to delete conversations.

A Rochester man charged with exposing himself to multiple people in downtown Rochester last year pleaded guilty Friday to three charges in three cases.
Zackaria Muhyidin Ahmed, 19, was facing 11 charges, mostly misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor charges, spread across five cases in Olmsted County District Court.
Ahmed pleaded guilty Friday to gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of gross misdemeanor harassment. A charge of misdemeanor indecent exposure and two counts of gross misdemeanor of harassment were dismissed Friday. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 17 by Judge Joseph Chase.

James Lee Halverson, 38, was found guilty in March by an Olmsted County District Court jury of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and third-degree assault-substantial bodily harm. Because the charges stem from the same event, Halverson was not sentenced on the third-degree assault charge. The jury acquitted Halverson of first-degree assault.
